Well, damnit, now I feel ordinary. Texas. But I was the same in Montana. Though I will put on a hoodie when the temps are in the 40s. I used to wear shorts in the snow (still do, but it snows so rarely that I don’t have opportunity here) which is obviously not that big a deal, except to Texans (and others like them). 20 degrees and 10 degrees and 0 Fahrenheit are important benchmarks. When it starts to dip below 20, shorts feel less comfortable and a jacket is more important.
Here it’s cool (almost cold) in the mornings and heats up by afternoon/evening. I used to wear more zip hoodies, but a couple of years ago I found this LL Bean sweater that just goes with me everywhere, even to bed.
It’s only just a little cool here right now in CT and I’m not wearing anything but my regular daily dresses, no coat or jacket or anything else. It’s been super mild for this time of year, 60°. When the weather gets a lot colder I’ll be staying inside or throwing on my poncho or those wearable blanket type things. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the fashion plate that I once was. And yes, I miss it!
What??? Fleece was not on the list? You can tell these people who make up they surveys live in TX where cold requires just a dry t-shirt over the bathing suit rather than a wet one to cool off.
@Kidsandliz
On the Gulf coast, “wet” and “cool off” are mutually exclusive; the challenge is to find enough air flow to stay dry. If there’s a t-shirt and any kind of exertion involved, that shirt’s going to be sodden quick. Shorts and a sports bra or a crop top, that’s the ticket for hot weather here. When the temp outside drops below 70F, we haul out the parkas.
Nah, really, just the flannel over a t-shirt, 'cause it’s gonna warm up later.
Long sleeves when the weather is in the 60s F, sweaters when it’s a little cooler than that. And a cardigan when I’m in my over-air-conditioned office, which I haven’t been for 18 months or so.
Overnight in MI it went from mid 70s to high 50s, it’s definitely sweatshirt weather here. 40’s at night might even need a jacket. Summer is definitely over
generally wear a lot less than SWMBO. When she’s in a jacket, I’m in short sleeves. If I have a coat on she is in long underwear and the heated coat I bought her from Woot. Rarely wear a jacket unless it’s under 50 or so. Almost never wear a sweater.
@Kyeh
yeah, actually wore a coat on Tuesday and Wed. Stayed in town (Durango) Tuesday with high of about 35 and flurries all day. Took the DSNGRR on Wed and it was cold (25-32 or so) on that open-air car we were in for 3.5 hours each way. Silverton got 10 inches of snow on Tues and lost all power in the town for 12+ hours… while having a municipal election to boot! Snow/slush all over when we got them on Wed.
Had a bunch of snow slide off a roof onto the grandson (14 yr old) when we visited the San Juan County History Museum in Silverton. He was NOT amused (I laughed my ass off…especially since he stayed in the same spot after it fell on him and there was more fixing to fall). Had to bodily grab his giant coat and pull him out of the fall line… Obviously not a common event in TN were he lives.
@Kyeh
we did. It was a blast. Ziplined in Durango one day, Train ride and visit to Mesa Verde NP on some of the other days. Even took him to see his first James Bond flick (No Time To Die) on the one (really) crappy weather day we had.
Shorts and a t-shirt.
@yakkoTDI I said the exact same thing but you beat me to it by a couple microseconds.
I live in Florida so shorts all year round. Unless I plan on going somewhere where I might be outside for a long period of time.
@cengland0 I am in West Central Florida.
@yakkoTDI Also shorts and a t-shirt, but I live in Colorado. If it gets below zero, I’ll throw on a hoodie.
@yakkoTDI we are in the only state that did not receive any snow. Even Hawaii got snow in the mountains.
Sometimes if it gets too cold, I will pull on some sport sweat pants over my shorts so I can remove them easily in the afternoon.
@cengland0 @yakkoTDI @Pony

@cengland0 @joelmw @Pony @yakkoTDI
And fun fact:
40 below zero is the same Celsius or Fahrenheit …
@chienfou Yup, your story checks out.
But can you answer this question? If it’s zero degrees outside and the weatherman says it will twice as cold tomorrow, how could is that?
@cengland0
nope… I can hardly even understand it…
T-shirt. Unless it’s cold enough to be painful, I just chill -ya get it?- in a t-shirt.
Microfleece, baby!
A wind-breaker, and a light jacket for me.
A portable source of heat as anything below 5C/50F I shiver like gelatin in an earthquake.
My sweater, 100%. I live in a college town and anything less classy makes me feel like one of the students.
Does ‘cool’ mean like 50-60F?
Then long-sleeved shirt.
If 40-50F, then fleece vest over long-sleeved shirt
Pants
I have a decent cape to wear as long as I can get away with it. Being in Minnesota, it’s usually a narrow window.
@simplersimon
I love a pretty cape or a poncho! Wool in the winter months keeps me warm and cozy.
When it’s cool to wear a dress, I wear a dress. When it’s super cold I layer on thick.
Fall: perfect weather for a leather jacket.

✔F.) All of the above.

Well being from The Windy City aka The CHI aka Chitown aka The Second City, just kidding, seeing its only cool i like to wear a long sleeve tshirt.

Dress jacket. But I’m a clothes horse by nature, so I own several, and use them casually.

Tank top - I have hot flashes

@chienfou Were you in coats in CO? Seems like it was better weather for skiing than train riding in the southwestern part of the state last week!

@chienfou Oh no! Hope you had a good time despite it all!
@Kyeh

That all sounds like a lot of fun!
@Kyeh
t’was indeed!
Cargo shorts
Tank top, short sleeve shirt, long sleeve shirt, hoodie, cardigan. Take off and put on as needed during the day. Layers are magical!
