I think cheese is healthy (in moderation) bc it has protein. I know I don’t get my daily protein in everyday bc I’m not a huge meat eater so I’m always happy to eat cheese.
@mycya4me@Zeusandhera
If fruit was precut for me and just appeared in my fridge that way, that all I would eat. It’s just expensive to buy it precut and it takes up a lot of space and I get lazy to do it all the time.
@mycya4me@Star2236@Zeusandhera I keep telling myself when I buy fresh vegetables or fruit or cheese I will prepare it into nice snack pieces, snack sticks and put in containers easy to grab. Then I usually don’t.
@mycya4me@Star2236@Zeusandhera Yeah, I too have made aspirational fruit and vegetable buys. In the store, I’ll tell myself I’ll prep it when I get home. Getting home, I get caught up in something or other and into the fridge it goes, untouched.
@kittykat9180@therealjrn yeah, the “hog wild” option would be the pork meat sticks. Though that might go well with some string cheese or the cheddar sticks. Then some nuts or fruit if I prepared.
I often would use things like this on long drives. I didn’t like wasting time or money stopping during the day for fast food. Just a few minutes for refueling (the truck, not me).
I usually packed enough food in a bag I could reach from the driver’s seat that I didn’t have to buy the overpriced unhealthy stuff at gas stations.
Smaller cheeseburger and a smaller slice of 3 meat pizza, all washed down with a smaller chocolate malted. And then skip the usual piece of cheesecake.
Gotta keep lunch small during these indulgent holidays.
I usually try and keep some kind of nuts around or heathy type fruit bars and granola bars for a quick snack if I’m hungry. Most days I don’t eat anything from “my” breakfast which is more like lunch till a late dinner.
December I’m usually snacking on cookies though bc I make a bunch and someone’s gotta eat them.
@rancho the one from 1992 that people keep re-gifting? Also the imported “panettone” which is similar. It is shelf-stable for years apparently. My mother would buy them on clearance after the Holidays and I tried to tell her “stop getting those!”
I’m sure if I were in Italy and got a fresh one at a bakery it would be very different.
Larabar.
Not healthy but Cheese. Big chunks of cheese. I love me some cheese.
@Mehlachi
Cheese = life
@kittykat9180 @Mehlachi yep, I like shredded cheese, blended several types. Get a spoon ful. Major Yum!

@Zeusandhera Banana! If it is good enough for the Minions, then it is betting for me! Especially on a sandwich with peanut butter! Triple Yum!

Eggs or fruit
Well, I did buy 48 meat sticks recently.
But usually it’s popcorn.
@kittykat9180 Ha ha! I answered meat stick because of the same reason! But ordinarily it’s hard boiled egg or cheese.
@therealjrn I like to keep string cheese around.
@kittykat9180 I was in my 30s when I found out about string cheese. I had a coworker who was nuts about it. I enjoy it now, but not all hog wild.

When I need a healthy snack during the holidays, I try to get past that feeling quickly and get back to the pastries.
@BioBill I hear ya, past me the triple Chocolate (anything!)
Ham.

Very Delicious
@Wollyhop Excellent choice. So is bacon, in my opinion.

@Star2236
Bless you sister, you’re truly doing the Lord’s work.
@therealjrn
I love Christmas cookies, epically my moms and my aunts, I’ll eat them till their stale.
@Star2236
Which is why you are here.
Wow no one chose fruit cake?

I try to make sure there is a veggie tray for snacking.
