@yakkoTDI nope, actually you are one of the poor souls that has built up a tolerance. My sympathies if you ever have to abstain from drinking it for any extended period of time. The shakes you probably can get used to but I am not sure about the headaches, insomnia, and irregular heart beat.
@elimanningface Nope. I didn’t start drinking coffee until my late twenties. Never got a caffeine affect. I do not drink every day nor do I drink large amounts of it on most days when I drink.
If I drink too much hot coffee, or any hot beverage, I will start to fall asleep.
@yakkoTDI I completely understand. I’m the same way. I can drink no coffee for days then have 6 cups one day and the only difference is the increased liquid intake ups my liquid disposal.
Back when “Jolt” and “Surge” were the only caffeinated soda pop drinks stronger than Mountain Dew, I once drank 2/3 of a 2-liter of Surge all at once at 2am in a failed attempt to stay up all night on New Year’s Eve. I fell asleep at 2:30 and only woke up at 8am due to a rush to deposit the extra liquid.
@elimanningface Another here who is not affected, but also not addicted.
I usually have a couple ~8oz cups per day (the last one after dinner) and buy 2-3 espresso drinks a week on average, but have cut it off cold turkey for hiking or travel for up to a week with no ill effects. I’ve always been able to drink coffee/espresso right before bed without it keeping me up, even back in high school when I only had it once every few weeks.
@elimanningface That’s why it’s non-coffee…
It’s almost as big a WTF as non-alcoholic beer.
The mere thought of such bastardizations upsets the entire multiverse
@2many2no it was a reference to my numbness to its effects. I’ve been hooked on large doses of it for so long I can drink it at 10 pm and sleep like a baby. Surely I’d get monsteous withdrawal headaches from decaf.
On long drives I have to shift to that hyper-Mountain Dew rhino piss to get a concentrated dose. But that sugar load is pure hell.
I’ve never had coffee in my life.
@PlacidPenguin your GI tract thanks you.
@PlacidPenguin Curse your brilliant white teeth!
@melonscoop
Pffft. Nowhere near that.
No flightless seabirds were harmed while making kopi luwak
@nadroj
Yum. Defecated coffee cherries.
/s
@nadroj I have a small package brought to me on a plane from Indonesia. I have yet gotten my balls together to make and drink it.
@PlacidPenguin I can’t swear that I have never had a cup of coffee. I must have had a bit somewhere to know how much I can’t stand drinking it.
I have mine on a steady IV drip throughout the day
I finished my last cup for today at 10:30 pm.
Whenever I want.
Coffee is for grown-ups.
@Pavlov
And you don’t know any yet?
@f00l Exactly.
on normal days
11pm hard caffeine cut off(like coffee/red bull/ v8 energy juice)
12am all caffeine cut off
i work over nights
I can drink it whenever. I am one of the poor souls that is not affected by caffeine.

@elimanningface I have some tolerance; any effects don’t kick in until the second cup.

Coffee has caffeine in it?
@RedOak They make a non-coffee product called decaf
@2many2no why would anyone drink coffee if not for the caffeine? Do they now make good tasting coffee?

It’s almost as big a WTF as non-alcoholic beer.

@RedOak I know you were just being facetious but what happened if it turned out Mountain Dew was actual rhino piss?
@elimanningface it would still taste like shit… I mean piss.
I usually try to taper off starting around 3 AM, hardly ever have any after 5 AM
I don’t do coffee, but I can’t function without my morning Dr. Pepper. I switch to tea after that, and that stops at 6PM.
Normally, a cup of coffee first thing, then switch to diet soda or iced tea.
If I have a real boring meeting to go to, I’ll have a second cup.
If lunch is light and quick, maybe then a SBUX run for a dessert coffee.
Two cups of regular in the morning, two cups of decaf @ 7:30 p.m.
Still sipping very lightly some days until 9pm or so. Usually on iced tea by then.
Sometimes I drink it all through the day and night. I love it when I can stay up all night, the silence between 2 and 5 is something I never tire of.
Do coffee enimas count? Lol (don’t personally do them, not even a coffee drinker) http://sawilsons.com/library/basic-coffee-enema-procedure-and-recipe/
Coffee is for closers.

Coffee is nasty. I prefer to get my caffeine via chocolate.
My after dinner coffee (8-9PM) is usually an Irish coffee.
First and last cup is usually around 11 to 11:30 AM these days.
I have mine latté in the morning.
