What's your holiday menu today?
7For Christmas breakfast I made Grands biscuits with butter and homemade habanero grapefruit marmalade. For lunch I had 'tater patties ( southern style potato pancakes) just like my grandmother used to make. Growing up, this was what love tasted like. For supper tonight I’m making Thai green curry chicken with jasmine rice, and lemon bar with sour cream icing for dessert.

Why can’t you be my neighbor? I’d invite myself over for every meal.

Serious Ditto.

@Barney @f00l And I love to cook for people…
@moondrake Hey @f00l, I think we got an invite!
Edit: At least I got one, not sure about you.
@Barney
Re invites to @moondrake’s feasts: formal and “accidental”:
I have commented on being in EP in the past, and she f00lishly dropped clues as to the correct location.
I love EP.
And once I’m in EP, and in the neighborhood, I figure I can just follow the pet hair.
@moondrake, you’d better plan on having your dogs squish me, not attack me, if you want to dissuade me.
All Dogs Are Good Dogs.
And All Dogs know I know that.

@f00l @moondrake I’ve been in El Paso once and that was with my husband (to be). We went to the Beach Boys/Chicago concert in KC and ended up in EP.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, the whole marriage was like that.

@f00l My guys are lovers, not fighters.
@moondrake
If they squish me with love, I’ll be pretty happy.

Too Much Ain’t Enough.

Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, once upon a fine time:
Ones upon a time, was there on Tx Independence Day, with friends, and quite a good ways toward being wasted.
Was the entertainment Johnny Paycheck? I forget.
In the ladies room I happened to hear very nice looking person mention what was clearly my high school and the name of the fine person who had been my date to my senior prom in HS. (a good guy)
I turned around and said “Pardon me for interrupting: Did you just mention so-and-so from Fort Worth?”
Yes. She had. By then he was a big deal lawyer at a huge TX firm. She was a Tx native, a current Columbia Law student and was his fiancee.
I told her I went to the senior prom with him. She already knew about me.
We spent the rest of the evening combining our respective parties, getting way way more wasted, and telling so-and-so stories.
A few days later, he called me in NY. “what did you tell her? Will she still marry me, do you think?”
I reassured him, but that wasn’t necessary. He was a great person, always decent and honorable, not one to ever justify casual cruelty or thoughtlessness.
And smart as hell, tho I was, of course, reluctant to feed his ego on that one.
Haven’t seen either in decades, but … They did, I hear, get married. I heard it went well after that.
No harm no foul.
That’s an iguana in top.
The neighbors didn’t like it.
Mayor Koch liked it. Guess who won?
@f00l My HS boyfriend was equally awesome. I tell people that every girl at age 16 should be issued a strapping 6’4" blond haired, blue eyed, sweet and well mannered southern gentleman just like him. After having been all but a ghost throughout my school career, the eternal stranger, I was quite surprised when Prince Charming put in an unexpected appearance, making me welcome among his friends and making my last year of school wonderful. I hope he’s had a fantastic life.
Turkey at my house. Looks like Thanksgiving again but we like it. Leftovers for dinner.
Pretty snowstorm for a white day but the roads are closed and/or horrible for the people trying to travel.
@speediedelivery Ah, it’s 72 here. Spent the afternoon reading in the back yard swing.
@moondrake currently 19° and feels like -3°. Still better than the “high” tomorrow of 15°. Looks like about a foot of snow that you are missing out on. Do you want to stop by for leftovers?
I did get to go outside and dig a car out of the snow for fun. It is not even the good snowball snow.
@speediedelivery I don’t really like snow or turkey, but thanks.
@speediedelivery
Sounds a lot like conditions at our house- I plowed snow for about an hour, cleared the snow off the porch and walk AGAIN.
Then we drove over snow-covered roads to my niece’s house for an Italian-themed XMas dinner w/ lasagna, meatballs, sausage, and other assorted sauce-covered goodnesses, and many libations- therefore SWMBO drove home.
@PhysAssist I am NW of you near the lake. Record snow of 34 inches yesterday at the airport. Another foot planned for today.
I am making baked potato salad for lunch today. Grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and onions to go with it. I have decided not to go out to lunch today.
@speediedelivery
Yeouch!
I made chicken, mac’n’cheese (boxed, not the good stuff) and green beans and my family damn well better have liked it. We’re going “home” to my mom’s next weekend and will have all the good stuff then.
@PurplePawprints
Isn’t the boxed stuff “The Good Stuff”?
@PhysAssist Depends on which kind of boxed stuff and how good the homemade recipe is that you’re comparing it to.
@PurplePawprints
I ALWAYS improve on it…
@PhysAssist Mac n cheese with Pico de Gallo, bacon and sour cream.
Sirloin steak, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, some green veggies, and salad.
Hope it comes out okay.
Made a traditional Norwegian cake yesterday and will have some leftover for dessert.

@RiotDemon That cake looks yummy!
@moondrake it wasn’t bad. I overcooked it a little so it was a little firmer than normal. Everyone that ate it at my friend’s Christmas eve party said it was good, so I guess it was alright.
I ordered soooo much chinese food! I was going to take a picture of it, but I was too hungry.
Kapusta, perogi, and golabki
Beans and weenies for dinner.
/giphy Chinese Food
cranberry stuffed pork chops
peas and pearl onions
and this awesome salted pretzel bread, comes frozen, and in all honesty, not sure i could have made it as good
https://images.heb.com/is/image/HEBGrocery/001605876
i could have eaten it all day
We cooked a ton of bacon for breakfast then fried eggs sunny side up in the bacon grease (and spooned the grease over the eggs to cook the tops properly). A rare treat, and we’ve got already cooked bacon to last a few more days.
Dinner: a ham, home-made potatoes au gratin, mixed vegetables, a great bakery apple pie with ice cream on top.
We forgot to make biscuits but that left more room for the pie
Thai curry
Krave black cherry barbeque pork jerky, Kettle Brand dill pickle krinkle cut potato chips, and Allsorts English licorice.
Made sausage balls for breakfast. Almost ran out of cheese, forgot I made macaroni and cheese the other night.
Late dinner, roasted prime rib, mashed potatoes/gravy, salad, corn and chocolate cake that we were too full to eat. It was really good, if I do say so myself.
Great for leftovers! No cooking tomorrow, except breakfast. Bacon and eggs, maybe pancakes shaped like a bunny.
We made a prime rib roast, mashed potatoes, green beans with shallots and hazelnuts, sous vide carrots, Yorkshire pudding, mushroom gravy, and horseradish cream sauce. For dessert my sister made a chocolate peppermint cake with chocolate chips. Before dinner I made negronis. It was my mom and her boyfriend, my wife and me, my sister, her husband, and their 16yo son and 13yo daughter. A splendid time was had by all.
Wow, I’m kinda surprised how many other people also had had Thai curry for dinner tonight. Strange…
TODAY, it will be coffee and water because, dear Odin, the diet sins that were committed yesterday are too numerous to want to even think about.
Sadness and regret.
