“The whole idea for Powrtabs started with trying to develop new kinds of portable chargers for our Dabado (cannabis) vaporizers,” says Powrtabs co-founder Steven Helfer, age 20, of their start-up’s genesis moment.
In a storage box on an upper shelf in my office are thirteen charging cords for my iPhone (not including the 12 volt ones for my car), representing exactly how many times I’ve forgotten my power cord running out the door over the past year and half. The pure dollar value of the box burns me every time I look at it, since it’s basically equivalent to the cost of a new iPhone or iPad.
I don’t understand how these solve that problem any better than throwing a cord wherever you’d throw one of these. Maybe also a small rechargeable battery if you’re often nowhere near a power source and can’t live without your phone?
@Pantheist I think it’s because the packaging is biodegradable and mostly recyclable?
I personally bought several rechargeable batteries so I always have one in my car.
Are they Bluetooth also?
Are they self-driving?
Do they last longer?
Because Keurigs didn’t make enough waste.
Form factor notwithstanding, isn’t this an inherently rechargeable battery packaged specifically not to recharge?
@djslack looks that way.
I think this explains a lot:
Source article if you feel like making yourself .

@RiotDemon Kinda biodegradable/recyclable is still worse than reusable though.
Wait… Condoms are one-time use??? Good to know…
