I’m sorry, do you like having the Weather trying to COOK you whenever
You walk around?
I have a couple of weeks left before the Temperature here starts to reach the Triple Digits. Combo that with the Humidity and Heat Stroke becomes a constant issue.
@haydesigner Too many ties to my current location to consider moving.
Family, Friends and Career are all kinda rooted where I’m at.
That plus the Food…
I don’t want to have
To eat what some States call ‘cuisine’. If it’s still moving when it gets to my table something is wrong.
You say I am the opposite. I’d much rather have the heat than the cold. Yes I know technically you can bundle up but I just sweat if I bundle up. And then I feel miserable. So I’d much rather have triple digits than single digits
@werehatrack No, you are definitely worse off. Cold and rain can always be dealt with. If you get too hot there’s no relief other than going indoors. High humidity just makes it that much worse.
A boss I had once who did mountain search and rescue had a saying: “There is no bad weather…only bad gear.”
Interestingly, the current poll is showing Winter and summer to be about the same votes. (That can be determined by a bar graph.)
I have been back in the 'ole US of A for about 8 months now. I find that the weather (not counting changing the clocks) here in Northern Virginia is bitter cold, or boiling hot, with pollen accumulations that coat everything from your porch to your car.
That being said, I am still a summer person. But I would rather be in Guam or Thailand or Laos for that.
Really seems to be geographically dependent… I’ve lived in the North for far too long but we’ll be moving somewhere without winters, now that the nest is empty. The grass is always greener I guess!
I enjoy all seasons but would prefer sunny days at 75° and cool nights at 60° A place on Maui comes close; Pukalani (Heavenly Gate) on the slopes of Haleakala is just as close as I’ve ever been to perfect.
I actually enjoy all the seasons.
Pool time and outdoor activities in the summer,
Cooler days with brisk nights, “leaf peeping” trips in the fall
Indoor time with occasional “nice” weather projects out in the shop in winter
Getting the garden ready and planting my veggies in the spring.
That being said, I live in Central Alabama so winters are not as cold as when I lived in “frostbite falls”, and I’m mostly retired so have fewer time constraints on when I can do things.
As always YMMV
@chienfou
OK, granted summer isn’t here yet (technically), but, we have been having AMAZING weather locally thanks to the Omega block. Lows about 5+ degrees below normal with highs about 10 degrees lower than average. All accompanied by tolerable humidities, even WITH all the recent rain’s.
Forecast calls for sunny and coolish (for the season) temps next few days. I’ll take it!
Summer in Georgia is hell. Set foot outside and you are assailed by foul tempered fire ants, ferocious mosquitoes, gnats, snakes, alligators. Worst of all, is the humidity. I like winter.
Summer. I am thinking of the worst week of each the past couple of years.
This winter had something crazy like 18 inches of snow in a day, freezing temps, and it shut everything down for a few days. I spent hours and hours snow blowing and shoveling. The world was quiet and peaceful.
The summer had triple-digit temps, power outages, the city advertising cooling centers so people don’t die. People trying to find hotel rooms and losing hundreds of dollars worth of food. Check on the elderly. Don’t walk your dogs. Etc. etc. etc.
The longer I live in a Summer Tourist city, the more I hate the Summer and long for Winter. But I detest other drivers during Winter enough that it remains my least favorite
I say Winter, You have to wrap up way too much! In the warmer months you can strip down to nearly nothing! Of course covering all the Important parts that should not be seen in public (unless you are on a Beach or Park you can bear it all! - NOT Me!)
@chienfou@Kyeh now that one I will absolutely concur with. I think I audibly gasped when I saw the mountain today. There is so little snow. I’m really worried about the summer.
I’m not going to say I outright HATE Winter, but it’s getting pretty close to it the older (wiser?) I get. -30 to -50 Fahrenheit wind-chills are pretty close to brutal. Large amounts of snow &/or accumulations of ice are all but a given…No Sir! I don’t like it!!
I am built for the Cold.
I can always throw another layer on, but there’s only so much I can take off in polite company…
The Fiancee and I are house hunting currently, she thinks I’m being too picky for wanting the place we buy to have central air. you’d be surprised how many houses in our area (NW Ohio) don’t have aircon.
Even freshly remodeled homes with NEW FURNACES…
and NO, window units are not good enough… what is this the 1980’s!!!
Spring can suck.
Hail storms. tornadoes. pollen. Mebbe flash floods. Ya never know.
OTOH wildflowers.
Summer sux.
Early summer feels like Houston only sometimes 10F or so hotter. So like a very hot swamp.
Late summer is going for that Death Valley vibe. Just go outdoors for a while and mebbe die.
Also there’s possible drought. And so many killer insects.
And the worst of summer tries to not leave some years. .
Autumn/Fall does not suck.
Even tho maybe hurricanes.
Football weather, Y’all. Even if someone hates football.
Winter can suck.
Some of it’s like fall. The rest of it is v cold v windy with ice storms a-coming.
——
I’ll take spring and fall.
I’ll toss summer and the worst days or winter.
“Summer” has finally officially arrived here. We are hitting temps over 90 with humidities 75% above. Typical summer storm/rain pattern to accompany. Everything is currently loving the rain and growing faster than I can keep it weeded and trimmed.
Spent time over the last few days turning over a section of lawn by our fence between us and our neighbors in anticipation of planting some spice bushes to decrease some of the visibility to our pool area. Half an hour breaking up sod with a spading fork resulting in being drenched in sweat and led to a quick dip in the pool to drop my core temp. 45 minutes with a tiller resulted in another immersion. Got the area covered in cardboard and grass clippings. We’ll plant the bushes in the fall.
Likewise spent some time weeding and trimming some of the plants in the veggie garden. Harvested some cukes, jalapenos, a few tomatoes, bell peppers, and some yellow squash to send home with my daughter. Things are just starting to get ready so the next several weeks will generate lots of fresh goodness (cantaloupes, zucchini, watermelon, eggplant, habaneros, grapes and the aforementioned). Also ended up picking about a quart and a half of blueberries. Fig trees and pear trees are covered in fruit and will be ready later in season. As long as I can keep water on things they should all do well.
I’m sorry, do you like having the Weather trying to COOK you whenever

I want Autumn or Winter.
@jadesabrexiv move further north then?
@haydesigner That used to work, but Chicago reportedly had temps in the 90s last month. (Of course, there’s always Alaska … naaah.)
@jadesabrexiv Me too. I can always wear more clothes and drink cocoa.

Summer; Texas!
@hchavers you coulda skipped the first word
@hchavers Depending on the region, you can be Cooked in a variety of styles.
That and the fact that the Weather is as insane as Ted Bundy….
I live in a two season state. Cold and wet and less cold and less wet.
@tweezak I don’t know if that’s worse than “Hot and damp vs hotter and sodden”, which is what it’s like in Miami.
@werehatrack No, you are definitely worse off. Cold and rain can always be dealt with. If you get too hot there’s no relief other than going indoors. High humidity just makes it that much worse.

Winter just because of driving conditions can be horrible. Otherwise, all seasons have their +/-.

Summer if I’m living in the desert.
@kittykat9180 winter in the desert is terrible; the days are a little more bearable, but the nights are practically ice tornados.

Spring for 2 weeks. Mud season as Winter leaves so slowly. Flowers everywhere, which drown in the mud.
Down East Maine BTW.
