I've burned the back of my hand on the top element in my stove while taking a pizza out (with a very minor scar on my finger to show for it), AND I just recently burned three fingertips grabbing a coffeemaker by the base while it was on (didn't know it was). Those fingertips have completely healed with no second reminder that maybe I shouldn't be allowed near hot things (besides my wife of course).
Just the oven I have burnt myself so many times in relation to the over, ESPECIALLY when I worked Food service. this one time I took one of those huge Sheet Pans out of the oven and need more space on the counter so I moved the pan that was there forgetting that that pan had also just come out of the oven. Um, agony doesn't begin to cover it. I can proudly say I stayed at work and toughed it out, with a little help and several frozen rags
The oven is usually the thing that burns me. The last memorable time I got myself was last Thanksgiving. I was moving the bird, with a potholder, and the potholder was covering my fingers, and the part at the base of my thumb hit the heating element. No blisters, but it burned for hours and hours. I even took an ice pack with me for the night time Thanksgiving day sales.
One time I was flipping food in the oven, and my oven mitt was touching the door of the oven. When I moved that hand to rest on my leg I felt it s warmth and looked down to see my oven mitt was on fire. I didn't burn myself, but I thought that was weird.
Other than that the only burns I really manage to get is when I get spit on by hot grease.
I've burned my fingers a disturbingly large number of times deliberately touching a surface I knew to be hot to see how hot it was. The answer was: hot enough to burn me. It's probably evenly split between that and taking a frozen pizza out of the oven, recently anyway.
Get minor oven quickies all the time and use cast iron too. Normally have at least one healing up, usually minor though. If not kitchen then motorcycle or car.
I have a scar on my right forearm from taking a pizza out of a 475 degree oven. You learn from that mistake pretty quickly. So much ice on my arm that night...
Pulling something out of the oven. Not pizza, though; more likely a casserole. Which means a potluck at work. I don't casserole very often, and the handles on the sides of my casserole dish aren't thermally insulated, so I tend to use a towel, which has slipped in the past and resulted in a mild burn. I don't burn myself in the kitchen often; I have plenty other opportunities to do that.
I am careful enouh that I don't usually get burned directly. Usually I sear myself picking up a hot pan either from the stovetop or the oven with a wet potholder. This usually happens on holidays or before dinner parties when I am working on a lot of stuff simultaneously and every surface in my tiny kitchen is covered with food prep, the potholders get pushed here and there and end up getting wet without me noticing.
My hand has caught on fire at least three times, none of which had anything to do with cooking. This is the aftermath of the worst one. I'd rather not admit how this happened.
Or even mildly hot peppers. I must have the most porous skin on the planet, but even slicing jalapenos results in burning fingers for days afterward. I now wash my hands, then slather on olive oil, pat off the excess, slice,then wash my hands again immediately afterward.
Otherwise...A few spot burns from boiling oil when making fries, maybe. I'm more prone to slicing myself than burning myself.
The worst I've ever been burned was from a crockpot that had been cooking all day.
It wasn't even from touching the actual hot crockpot part either. I rested my arm on the lid and unbeknownst to me, over the steam hole. I've never experienced that kind of pain before or since, it was a super concentrated burn circle on my wrist that would not stop being incredibly painful.
When I worked at starbucks it felt like I burnt my hand every single day. Always pouring the hot water or hot coffee on my hands. Past that I'm with @jaz853 wet pot holders or cloths are the worst for taking things out of the oven.
Did anyone mention grease popping in the pan? It happens almost every single time I fry anything. One day I'll remember it happens beforehand and be more careful
I haven't burned myself in the kitchen for a while now. That means that tomorrow I'll burn the crap out of myself >:(

@Mac454 Dang! I was going to say "My hot wife" but you beat me to it.

I confess I bump the racks on the oven way too frequently. Vinegar does wonders for burns.
Keep an aloe plant around. Used immediately, it's like a burn eraser.

I've been burned far too many times by pulling the half sheet jelly roll pan out from the bottom rack. Always hit just above the orca mitt.
@Thumperchick You have an oven mitt that looks like an orca?

@mossygreen If the pizza is still frozen, your oven might be broken.

Usually hot oil from deep frying...wings, donuts, fries etc.
Pizza out of the oven, and that darn boiling water. The boiling water steam has gotten me a few times when pouring out the pasta water.
Taste testing really hot food because I'm way to excited to wait for it to cool down. I get a burnt tongue all the time.
@luvche21 ^ This.
@luvche21 Yup. And I hate burning my tongue!
@daveinwarsh But you think I'd learn my lesson EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS, but I don't.
Cooking bacon with no pants on.
Seems appropriate. FF to 0:49.

Multiple times I have gotten a cloth pot holder wet and then used it to pick something hot up. It's a disaster and it's like I never learn.

@Moose cooking meth?
@Mavyn "None of which had anything to do with cooking, meth or otherwise"
taking pizza out of the oven
putting pizza into mouth
Slicing really hot peppers.

Steam burns are no joke.

@capguncowboy Never fry bacon topless.
