Oh hell I don't know it depends on my mood and what I'm eating them with. Dill is quintessentially anti-good though. Dill is the worst flavor known to man.
@pitamuffin I never thought I would see Hipster Chips. My Great Granddaddy ate wood chips and metal shavings as snacks. They're trying to turn us into a gaggle of pussies!
@Fish_Kungfu it was from a contest that Lay's did... "Do us a Flavor"... my fav was the Cheddar Bacon Mac N Cheese flavor... I never found a bag of the wassabi to try, but I bet I would have loved them. ... and yes the Cappuccino chips were nasty.
Walker's Thai Sweet Chili. I ate so many of those when I was in England. Lay's brought them here for a little while, but discontinued them. A manager told me the Lay's Sensations potato chips were very successful but the corn chips weren't and the corn chips used the same production line as Sun Chips, which were (finally) getting popular, so they dropped the whole Sensations lineup.
Can anyone recommend a hot chip? The Kettle Jalapeño are a joke and when Doritos used to make the Habanero flavor they were still only on the edge of hot. Sprinkling cayenne and cumin over Lays Salt and Vinegar is too much work.
@brhfl Thank you. Now that I've seen the Trinidad Scorpion sauce I have to try it, I'm assuming it would be cruel rather than funny to transfer this to a Tabasco bottle and leave it on the table.
Hand cut paper thin by grandma in her kitchen and fried in lard in a cast iron skillet while I waited patiently with my brothers and sister through every little sizzle and pop only to devour them as soon as she salted them, ignoring her admonishment to wait until they had cooled a bit . . . That was a long time ago, but: Best. Chips. Ever.
@KDemo At least they didn't lie and call them wasabi. Most things that claim to be wasabi are actually horseradish (plus some green food coloring in some cases).
@ChunkyBitz - Interesting. I thought wasabi was a form of horseradish, but I just learned it's a different plant. Cheddar wasabi doesn't even sound good.
Mackie's Haggis and Cracked Pepper chips are the best ever, forever, bar none. I keep my pantry stocked at all times and reorder as soon as I'm down to three bags.
@goldenthorn Hmmm...these contain no haggis, only haggis spices. Seems like blatant false advertising to me. If there's no heart, liver, lungs and stomach involved, it ain't haggis!
@trisk They do. I never have room in my luggage for them because my luggage is full to the breaking point with McVitie’s Dark Chocolate Digestives. However, back in the late 90's, I smuggled back some Pringles Salt and Vinegars for my coworkers. Nowadays salt and vinegars are commonplace in the States, but back then they were not. I'd like to think that I helped bring the taste sensation to the USA. Well, I helped, but I don't think I helped.)
My all-time favorites were O'Gradys ("the more potato potato chip") Au Gratin. They were a very thick-cut slice of potato with yummy cheesy stuff added. Very potatoey! Most chips these days are about a single potato-molecule thick, which is then deep-fried and then sprayed with flavor stuff. It's like the potato is just a delivery mechanism for the oil and flavoring. O'Gradys were so much more than just a potato chip.
I've kind of liked some chips since O'Gradys disappeared, but I've neved loved any of them. My understanding is that they were very expensive to make. I'd be willing to pay twice what the other chips cost! Bring back O'Gradys!
@Teripie I was at a function last week that had catered box lunches from Wolfgang Puck. One of the items was potato chips; made by them. They had not added much (if at all) salt, and not greasy. It tasted like potato! Quite a revelation. People were scavenging the leftover boxes just for the chips.
I have recently discovered Zapp's Voodoo chips. They're like a mashup of Salt and Vinegar, Sweet Onion, and BBQ chips, and are the most perfect thing to ever exist.
Ketchup chips!
@curtise I.... uh.... don't know how i feel about that. Partly disgusted yet strangely intrigued.
@apachebeaster You gotta be Canadian I think.
Wasabi....kemosabe!
Snyder of Berlin Hot BBQ are damn good
Oh hell I don't know it depends on my mood and what I'm eating them with. Dill is quintessentially anti-good though. Dill is the worst flavor known to man.
All of those choices sound pretty good. How about you send me one of each and I'll send you a detailed analysis?
It depends on the wine.
Salt & Vinegar are the best flavor of Pringles, but I don't believe they count as chips. They're crisps (at least in the U.S.).
What the hell kind of sacrilege is this crap!
@Fish_Kungfu Yeah, those were/are bad!

Mmmm.
Another epic fail of a poll....
How do you miss an answer like
"ALL OF THE ABOVE!"

@jqubed England's potato chip flavors opened my eyes to all kinds of possibilities around the year 2000. . . but I drew the line at "Prawn cocktail".
@jrwofuga mmmm shrimp cocktail.. mmm chips.... 2 great tastes that taste great together?
Tomato & basil chips. I don't know why, but they're sooo good.
Also, ITT: Lay's advertisements
@Fej are you the official /meh/hailcorporate person? hehe

@cercopithecoid have you tried any of the Dinamitas? All of the Dinamitas flavors burn on both sides of the human body.
@cercopithecoid Mama Zuma's Revenge is the best I've found, but still not terribly hot. I put this on my eggs for tolerance reference.
@brhfl Thank you. Now that I've seen the Trinidad Scorpion sauce I have to try it, I'm assuming it would be cruel rather than funny to transfer this to a Tabasco bottle and leave it on the table.
Old Bay-flavored chips. Don't know how far they're available outside of the Mid-Atlantic area, but they are awesome. Mmmmm ... spicy.
@Sarahsda Go nice alongside a Flying Dog Dead Rise… mmm…
Kettle cracked pepper, for one. Pretty much any super crispy kettle-cooked chip.

Still the best chips, wish they'd bring them back:
Nom nom
@KDemo yum
@KDemo At least they didn't lie and call them wasabi. Most things that claim to be wasabi are actually horseradish (plus some green food coloring in some cases).
@KDemo I need to try these.

@goldenthorn Oh I'm going to order these. Thank you for making my weekend.

Chips (or crisps) just come in better flavours outside the States. I never have room in my luggage for them. :(

@ChunkyBitz come on lays... bring 'em back... retro is cool these days.
My inner Kiwi says:
But I guess these would be my second pick:
@hollboll Bluebird Potato Chips? Is that some local brand? Never heard of them but Green Onion chips sound freaking kickass
@Bingo Yeah, as far as I know they're basically just in New Zealand/ Australia, but they're pretty damn good.
I'm fond of potato flavored potato chips.
@Teripie I was at a function last week that had catered box lunches from Wolfgang Puck. One of the items was potato chips; made by them. They had not added much (if at all) salt, and not greasy. It tasted like potato! Quite a revelation. People were scavenging the leftover boxes just for the chips.
I know a certain someone who would love these chips... Possibly mostly because of their colour...
I have recently discovered Zapp's Voodoo chips. They're like a mashup of Salt and Vinegar, Sweet Onion, and BBQ chips, and are the most perfect thing to ever exist.
@tombrend I've had those before! They're really good.
Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato flavored chips. Another one of those Lays contest chips. They are amazing!
