Gargoyles on Disney+. I loved it as a kid, and it’s still got me good. Of course I just hit that long stretch of random locations and crap stories in the middle, but this time, I can just binge thru in a few nights and move on. When it aired, it felt like it took forever.
Been watching Avenue 5 (just finished S01E08), Star Trek: Picard, New Amsterdam and a bunch of other recent stuff. Also, watching some older stuff, specifically Midsomer Murders (watched S04E03 earlier this evening).
@baqui63 Sadly, Avenue 5 is a dead end. I had high hopes for Hughe Laurie. But I got most of the way through E2 and have no desire to move on to E3. It’s just not funny. I’m shocked that HBO has already renewed for S2.
Re-watching LOST on Hulu.
Instead of being stranded on an adventurous island, I’m stranded in my own home with nothing better to do than binge watch TV and movies and the occasional video game.
@mike808 I watched the first season of Altered Carbon and it was ok. Then I read 2 or 3 of the books and they were ok.
I have not been able to enjoy season 2. Watched the first episode and didn’t like it at all so gave up.
Then I saw some positive reviews of the series so I watched the 2nd episode and didn’t like it at all.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was skeptical of the hype around The Madalorian but ended up loving it.
@mvalleeis I am in the same boat. I lost HBO when they pulled the plug on Dish Network’s access in 2018. I just resubscribed to HBO Now. LOTS to catch up on, and plenty of new shows have kept me occupied. Caught up on Silicone Valley, The Deuce and Succession.
As far as new shows, I haven’t able to bond with Avenue 5. I did get sucked in by Chernobyl, Watchmen, The Outsider, His Dark Materials, The New Pope, and this very odd Sky import titled Years and Years.
@tjwbiowa Enjoy it while it lasts.
It’s debatable when things started going downhill on that show, but for me, it was season 6.
Season 8 was the real turning point for me, though.
IMO, it has pretty much sucked since then.
I still watch it but I really don’t enjoy it at all anymore.
I thought the first few seasons were some pretty exceptional TV, though.
Then the show runner, Scott Gimple, just plain ruined the show and then handed it off to a new show runner who has been busy stabbing the shambling, undead remains of the show in the skull.
I hope it doesn’t run for more than one more season, after this current one.
Having read the comic series, which has now concluded, the TV show could definitely arrive at the same ending by the end of next season, and they should.
I’m not sure I can subject myself to any more if it goes longer than that.
@cranky1950 I used to like him years ago but his videos are unfortunately full of bad advice. (Using brass compression fittings when servicing the braking system even though the packaging explicitly states they’re not for automotive braking systems for example). He’s also proving to be a curmudgeon not open to new ideas and new technology. No, '90s Toyotas are not the epitome of automotive perfection. Cars are safer and cleaner and better in just about every way now, albeit more complicated. And EVs are the best option available now.
@FightingMongoos True! But he rants with such panache. I’ve been waiting for his eyes to roll back and him to keel over like Belushi usta do. It’s fun for the solution to every problem to be buy a pre 2018 4 cylinder corolla or camry.
B
There is so much NOTHING worth watching, I will pick up a 2 & 1/2 men, MASH, or Big Bang to compliment the few current shows I watch, BULL, TOMMY, AMERICAN IDOL, and I look forward to the return of FARGO.
Catching up on Arrowverse.
Shows on Nerflix (Toys That made Us, Movies That Made Us, 13 Reasons Why, etc).
Watching shows on Disney+ (Imagineering Story, Clone Wars, etc)
Wife is watching Outlander. Just got Parasite from the Library, they closed that day, so we have it indefinitely. Will watch some of the new Netflix shows as they come out, and Westworld…
Rewatching one of my favorite shows, Ugly Americans. I forgot how great it was. Only two seasons. Ah, Bojack kind of reminds me of it, but not quite as ridiculous.
For live action, watching Babylon Berlin. Highly recommend turning off the American dubbed voices and watching it in the original German with subtitles. Really good.
I’m in the middle of tons of series. It’s not that I don’t want to finish watching them, it’s just that I can’t usually get in the mood to pay attention to grim fiction.
Been plowing my way through all the Star Treks, since I’ll watch those while cooking or roasting coffee. In the middle of Enterprise now.
I have to say, I was wrong, that time I was playing devil’s advocate for that pop song. Sure, once, it’s fine. But once you’ve heard it more than two times, god help you. I never skip intros, except by mistake, but “It’s been a long road…” and I am mashing my thumb on the button quick–faster–dammit–make-it-stop!
I even tense up while watching the episodes when they play little musical chords that sound like the chord immediately prior to the intro.
of stuff that is currently airing:
jeopardy
westworld
top chef (well, starts thursday)
homeland
riverdale
bob’s burgers
the walking dead
grey’s anatomy
project blue book
picard
teen mom
jersey shore
dispatches from elsewhere (haven’t started it yet but have it on deck)
mcmillions (just finished - if you haven’t watched this you really should. it was excellent. i’d watch it ten times.)
also very excited for the new season of ozark on the 27th.
additionally, we just switched from cable to youtube tv and there is a channel called “tastemade.” it’s all cooking shows - actual cooking shows with many different types of chefs/cooks and no competitions or gimmicks. (yes, i know i just mentioned watching top chef but that is, imho, a worthy exception.) my favorite programs on it are “make this tonight” (featuring a different chef each episode) and “struggle meals” which focuses on budget cooking and what you can make with odds and ends in the fridge. the other great part about this channel is that most of the “commercials” are things like, a video of someone crafting a wooden spoon, or, making cocktails or preparing matcha. there’s only music and you only see hands. it’s very relaxing.
@AmazingChicken You mean that Moonshiners show on Discovery?
I watch a bit of it every now and then, but not a regular watcher.
I’ve always wondered how they get away with that…
They’re on TV, apparently engaging in criminal activity without any attempt to disguise their identities.
@AmazingChicken@RiotDemon
I mean, I assumed there was plenty of scripted stuff going on, but I also assumed those guys were real bootleggers and not actors pretending to be.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Patriot. Probably one of the best shows I’ve seen on Amazon Prime Video, honestly. Artful direction, clever writing, perfectly powerful, yet subtle acting.
Mom and I watched a few episodes of Columbo and Murder She Wrote. No offense, but those shows are awful. (Peter Falk is awesome, don’t get me wrong, but holy shit are those plots dumb as hell or what.)
Just nothing. Listening to some amazing jazz.
@shahnm It just dawned on me that the music I’m listening to is the Brad Mehldau Trio.
Mehldau
Ok then…
@shahnm who are you listening to?
@00 At the time I posted that, Brad Mehldau Trio, Seymore Reads the Constitution. Currently Ahmad Jamal and Yusef Lateef, Live At the Olympia.
@shahnm Brad Mehldau is amazing.
the inside of my eyelids in a couple of minutes
@rtjhnstn I think it’s a rerun.
@shahnm that’s why it is so relaxing
Westworld Season 3 started last night and I’m happy about that.
@brandom perfect timing coz I’ve just finished Kidding and The Outsider.
@brandom I’m sad about it because I was borrowing an HBO subscription from a friend and they just cancelled it recently.
Hunters on Amazon
@tinamarie1974 Me and the wife are watching this too.
@tinamarie1974 Same here. It’s a goofy concept not grounded in reality, so pretty much the same documentary value as watching Fox News.
@mike808 but it is entertaining
Person of Interest on Netflix
Rewatching Scrubs in anticipation of Shea Serranos upcoming essays on the series.
Watching the Joe Schmo Show literary right now.
@Raptor_007 How much literary value can there be in a reality show?
Or was that supposed to be “literally”?
@DrWorm Indeed no literary value at all.
It was definitely intended to be literally.
Right now?
Live P.D. as they catch/arrest the stupid.

@simplersimon I love the Avalon “world tour”. To each his own.
Samurai Cat
I started watching Picard over the weekend.
I still need to watch tonight’s Better Call Saul.
TV-wise, it’s a great time to be alive.
@zachdecker ST Picard is awwwwful. Why must everything be gritty and dark and miserable?
Just started Devs on HULU
Been watching Avenue 5 (just finished S01E08), Star Trek: Picard, New Amsterdam and a bunch of other recent stuff. Also, watching some older stuff, specifically Midsomer Murders (watched S04E03 earlier this evening).

Now that I have my Disney + subscription… Empire Strikes Back, the best Star Wars movie of all time.
@cenots #2 - Rogue One!
Grinding through Stargate Atlantis. Then Altered Carbon S2, Lost in Space S2, Fargo S3, Picard, ST Discovery S2, the Short Treks.
Finished The Mandalorian and it was glorious.
@mike808 I watched the first season of Altered Carbon and it was ok. Then I read 2 or 3 of the books and they were ok.

Just finished Avenue 5. Now watching “Are You Being Served?”
Watching myself play video games
Season 14 of Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Just got HBO again, so I’m watching Avenue 5 and the last season of Silicon Valley and starting Westworld III.

TWD for the first time lmao. Just finishing up season 3.
@tjwbiowa Enjoy it while it lasts.

What sports I can find, including cooking competitions.
@hchavers Full contact?
Scotty Kilmer videos!

Better Call Saul. This new season is uneven and weird so far but here’s hoping it comes together nicely at the end!
Bitchin’ Rides! Kindig-It Designs makes some killer custom cars.
Scrubs, made it to season 5 so far. After that it’ll likely be MASH or The Simpsons.
Reviewing some Big Bang episodes to relax after work
The Sopranos on Amazon.
There is so much NOTHING worth watching, I will pick up a 2 & 1/2 men, MASH, or Big Bang to compliment the few current shows I watch, BULL, TOMMY, AMERICAN IDOL, and I look forward to the return of FARGO.

Shows on Nerflix (Toys That made Us, Movies That Made Us, 13 Reasons Why, etc).
Watching shows on Disney+ (Imagineering Story, Clone Wars, etc)
Rock docs. Jimi, janis, zz stop, 27 club, rush. A few more, lots to go.
Started watching Bojack Horseman a few days ago.
Picard
@arielleslie Isn’t there enough misery in the world already?
@FightingMongoos Fair, but… Picard.
Altered Carbon Season 2 - Netflix
Castlevania Season 3 - Netflix
Wife is watching Outlander. Just got Parasite from the Library, they closed that day, so we have it indefinitely. Will watch some of the new Netflix shows as they come out, and Westworld…
@olperfesser Those fines are gonna pile up…

The Great British Baking Show. And High Society, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Kiss Me Kate, and Mistress of Spices.
I watch lots of stuff, but I’ve only recently started binging Rick & Morty. Fun.

How does that not get them busted?
@AmazingChicken @DennisG2014 it’s because it’s not real.
@AmazingChicken @RiotDemon

Rewatching Deadwood. My goodness, it is excellent.
Just started The Wire for first time. 2 episodes in. It’s i’ight.
Patriot. Probably one of the best shows I’ve seen on Amazon Prime Video, honestly. Artful direction, clever writing, perfectly powerful, yet subtle acting.
@jitc I agree!
@jitc @sammydog01 I can’t hear the word Patriot today. I’m mourning…
Whatever my wife wants to watch. I enjoy her “mood” afterwards when I let her pick. If I pick, it usually does not end well for me.
Backlog on Netflix:
Fuller House (Season 2)
Riverdale (Season 1)
Jessica Jones (Season 1)
On the DVR I have two episodes of My Hero Academia to watch via Toonami.
