@yakkoTDI You need to get a “Butter Bell”.
(Look it up.)
With your butter tucked inside one, you store it out on the kitchen counter, or on the dining room table, not in the refrigerator.
While they do require a little maintenance, (consisting of water changes), once you have one, you will have found one of life’s aggravations resolved, and you will never have to complain about the consistency of your butter anymore!
(Note: This of course presumes that the ambient temperature of your kitchen counter or dining room table is “normal room temperature”, and you do not live in a tent in the Sahara, or at McMurdo Station.)
@ELJAY@yakkoTDI
Apparently, Houston (with central AC set at 79F) in March through November counts as a tent in the Sahara. Butter at room temp is rancid in one to two weeks, and we don’t use enough as spread to reliably go through a full stick’s worth in less time than that.
@werehatrack A butter bell would keep your butter fresh for 2 weeks, even at 79F. It shields the butter from air circulation & oxidation.
(The problem with the tent in the Sahara is that the temperature is well above 90F, the point that butter liquefies.)
If you don’t want to splurge on the butter bell purchase, but still want to enjoy soft, spreadable butter, why not get ahead of the spoilage process by leaving only a maximum of a half stick of butter out of the fridge at a time, replenishing as necessary, and see how that goes?
The free version is better or just as good as LastPass, 1Password, and Dashlane for logins.
Pay for the premium to get the two-factor features. That means Google Authenticator integration. Better than texting a code to your phone. Premium LastPass does not get you that. They sell it as a separate product not integrated into LastPass.
What shouldn’t be so hard? Wait, is this a Cards Against Humanity suggestion poll? If so, something offensive involving your mother or sister. Or both.
@ircon96 and as a corollary believing in ALL science, not just the science you want to believe it. It’s sort of like gravity. It works all the time, not just when you want it to.
Earning a living wage in a society built on a single-earner family of four model that still provides no cost universal healthcare and basic education primary and secondary. And covers childcare for a two-earner family model. Invest in the citizenry, not the shareholders or profit margins.
It shouldn’t be so hard to score a gosh darn IRK! I don’t think I’ve ever chased anything ALL day long!! Even more crazy is that i’m only one of thousands doing the same thing! …at the same exact time!!
@Lynnerizer I got the old version of the IRK–the fuck you buckaroo bag–and it genuinely was full of disappointing junk. It didn’t even come with a useful tote that I could use for groceries. Instead it was one of those useless string backpack things.
Getting SSDI when something leaves you permanently unable to find a job; the typical time before approval is reportedly running two years. Who the hell wouldn’t be on the street and/or dead after that long with no income? No one I’ve known who had to apply was approved without a minimum of four declines, and most had to hire a lawyer to get it down to that many.
Getting medical service providers to charge cash customers the exact same amounts as they routinely accept from the insurers who take 90 days to pay once they’ve approved a claim - and decline the claim the first three times. Seriously, if we could pay the same amounts as they do, a hell of a lot of us could say “screw this, it’s a ripoff” and do without the insurance altogether. Yes, I know, they rely on having people in the pool who aren’t going to need much, but the conspiracy to promote massive overbilling as a terrorist dick move to scare the public into the pool is just that, and it’s time we made them be honest on both sides of it.
Butter.

@ELJAY @yakkoTDI Even without a butter bell, salted butter will last for about a month at room temperature before it starts to taste a little funky.

Judging by the responses, a lot of people need to set up a password manager.

@mike808 I miss the 1040 EZ form.
What shouldn’t be so hard? Privatized health insurance that isn’t a single-payer healthcare system.

@00 @Lynnerizer I think they only gave out those string bags twice. And a hip pack once. The rest of the time it has been bags.
@00
Oh wow, I’ve never seen one of the old IRK bags! Does it have the same picture on it?
(I hate those kind of cheap backpacks with the string straps, I too find them pretty much useless!)
The answer is dealing with people. And I know someone is going to argue that point.
