@Weboh
That’s the beauty of living on a one acre piece of property at the edge of a small town… Of course that may have to change when my wife gets back from a visit to Crete/Greece with her sister. She tends to be colder than me. I think she keeps me around in order to keep the bed warm!
@chienfou@Weboh The dumb asses who own this apt complex decided to put down rolls of grass after 3 weeks of no rain at a time when there was at least 12 more days of none. We have maybe some predicted in a week. One day of it and that’s a maybe. Oh yeah and then planted a bunch of weird looking bushes. They think watering in one place for 15 min is enough and the sprinkler spins in a circle. As much as I enjoy sunshine and no rain after the rainiest month ever the no longer green stuff sure needs it.
@chienfou That’s a worthy cause! I’ll see what I can do. In the meantime, there’s a new invention you may want to try out: Have you heard of a hose? It’s an amazing thing! It’s like an unlimited supply of water, directed exactly where you want it! Crazy! I’ve even heard tales of subterranean hoses called “spïngás” that can turn themselves on and off by magic with no human intervention to assure optimal water everywhere! The Year of our Lord, 2022 is a crazy time to be alive!
@Weboh
1)Too much of a PITA to use a sprinkler to cover an acre of ground. Pecan trees, fruit trees, fig trees, roses, herbs, veggie garden, flowers galore, palm trees, olive trees, camellias, loropetalums, azaleas, and what passes for lawn. And in the front yard…
2) By the time I get everything watered I have to start over again. It’s hard enough to just water the 3 dozen potted plants on a regular basis (every other day – minimum).
3) I’m too cheap to pay the city for that water (plus I have to pay sewer rates based on my water usage… WTF!?) Really need to check my old dug well out and see if it finally recovered from the last drought.
@Pony What about when you have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and leave the cozy sheets? Or worse: Get up an hour before you’re supposed to be for the same reason? You try to ignore it and just go back to sleep but you don’t get the hour’s worth of quality sleep.
Neigh, neigh I say! Give me a season where sheets are a luxury, not a necessity!
Although any season and any time is good for sleeping, Fall is great because you can have the windows open in the morning (I sleep in) without the insane chatter of birds as in Spring. Birds are nice but best when I am awake or trying to gently awaken, not actually sleep.
Winter - turn up the heated mattress pad and revel in the dark-until-late mornings (my bedroom has a skylight, which is nice, but awfully bright in the summer.)
Fall, because the nights are cool and I can snuggle up under the weighted blanket. Plus my allergies are usually bad enough to need meds, and those make me sleepy.
I’m sensing discrimination on these forums, Meh! Where’s the option for “I’ll tell you my favorite season in the comments” for those of us who don’t get the seasons listed?
The best season for sleep is rainy season. Who doesn’t love falling asleep to the sound of a monsoon outside knowing you don’t have to go out in it? So relaxing.
@Weboh Or the two seasons in Illinois, Road Construction and Dreary. In Miami, they used to be Tourist and Even Hotter. In parts of Texas, they are Football and Wildfire.
Autumn is nice, but winter, when I can have the bedroom window cracked open even when its bitter cold outside, and have the 5 pound 100% wool Swedish officer’s surplus blanket on top of the woobie, on top of the flannel blanket my Mom made for me decades ago, on top of My Pillow excellent sheets, and the warming pad underneath… that is sleeping nirvana.
Winter sucks bc (I can’t sleep with pjs I get to hot and hot flashes suck) so taking off my pjs before bed is to cold, going through bathroom in the middle of the night it’s freezing. Spring the birds are so dam loud they wake you up, fall it’s not hot enough for the air but still warm in the house (we live behind a 5 lane rd and running train, it’s kinda loud to open our windows at night but I miss the open windows) so I’d say summer is best and I grew up with no AC (till I was 28) so I’m used to the warm air at night.
Night.
I sleep best when it’s cold in the room. And I do mean cold. I run warm and it’s an absolute misery trying to sleep in the summer.
@kjady As A Floridian, I agree with every word.
Fall, windows open
Our current nighttime temps are upper 40’s low to mid 50’s.
@chienfou Couldn’t do it. I’d freeze! Windows closed, AC off here.
(Actually, I’d love to have the windows open. Can’t in a loud neighborhood, though)

@chienfou I just closed my window when it started dropping into the 30s at night.
@weboh
feel free to send some rain my way. Haven’t had any for a couple of weeks and the grass and veggie/flower plantings are needy!

So yeah, not gonna happen.
None. Sleep is a waste of time and I would avoid it forever if I could.
Winter, when you can snuggle up in nice cozy cotton flannel sheets. Not bamboozle rayon crap.

Under a warm blanket with a certain someone on a cold winter night.
Cold outside, warmish indoors.
When it comes to sleep, I’m a Man for All Seasons. As long as temps don’t go to extremes in there (60 +/- 20 F) and sirens don’t stop at my door.
@phendrick those sirens can be annoying …

@ThunderChicken
But no birds to worry about on the cruise ship, right?
@Kyeh Not necessarily.
@ThunderChicken Gulls?
@ThunderChicken
@Kyeh 'Zackly

Also - winter: no lawn mowers, leaf blowers or weed wackers making a racket outside.
Seasons have nothing to do with it for me. It’s all about depression for me I love to sleep when I get super depressed.
Winter, it’s darker earlier/longer and heated mattress pad soothes old bones.
Fall, because the nights are cool and I can snuggle up under the weighted blanket. Plus my allergies are usually bad enough to need meds, and those make me sleepy.
Summer… I like a warm room and that’s expensive in winter. Also cold is not fun and I dont care for lots of blankets.

time to hibernate like a bear…

Winter is the best time to hibernate.
I try to sleep in all seasons.
Sadly, sleep eludes me in all seasons. I recall fondly the days when I could sleep through six hours without interruption. <sigh>
