@brainmist I used to have hair down to my butt, but I can’t understand how I could stand it - I get annoyed now if it gets too long, like past my shoulders.
@brainmist@Kyeh I’m growing mine to donate, and I decided to let it grow until I get tired of it. It’s down to my butt, and I want to see how long it’ll grow, but it does get annoying. Most days, I braid it or put it in a bun to keep the ends from getting too beat up. There are some days when I just don’t feel like it, but then I worry that the ends are getting damaged.
@brainmist@lisagd Oh, good for you. I kept mine long all through high school and college, it was part of my identity, and I didn’t think twice about it. But the few times I’ve tried growing it long since then, it just got on my nerves after a while. It’s thick and coarse and doesn’t stay in braids or buns well.
@brainmist@Kyeh I have a lot of hair, but it’s fine, so it’s a challenge for me to do anything more than a braid or a bun, and it doesn’t even like to stay in a braid that well.
and it doesn’t even like to stay in a braid that well
I also have fine, but thick hair. It was way past my butt years ago when I worked taking adjudicated youth canoeing across the state of FL. One evening a couple of kids told me that if they put a ton of braids in my hair I wouldn’t need to comb it for months and it would be even easier to wash than now (All I did was wash my scalp and the first couple of inches of braids while it was in 2 braids and more or less dust off the rest of it which was incredibly easier than washing it when loose). Anyway they cornrowed and braided my hair telling me I was a baby when I yelped it was being pulled too tight. It stayed that way for 3 days before it started to come apart. The kids who had done it could hardly believe it wasn’t going to stay for weeks.
@xobzoo Oh no, I disagree! To me, wigs are very hot. A toupee might be better but IDK. I took care of a guy who had snaps sewn into his scalp to make his toupee more permanent. The first time I saw it I was a little freaked out, it was kinda gross to my young 18/19 year old self.
The hair extensions are cool but you still need to have hair for them to attach to. I just don’t think they’re as easy as some may think but chances are I’m totally overthinking it. Lol
@Lynnerizer@xobzoo Concur on “wig not always”. I am resigned to the fact that for outdoor activities, my Social Hair (a wig) is just not on. But I have so little native hair remaining that I wear the wig a lot nowadays.
@werehatrack@xobzoo
These days my very curly, thick, beautiful hair ISN’T ANY of those things anymore! I was considering getting a wig last year but because I’m always so hot I didn’t think it was going to be for me. And besides that I couldn’t find many choices with my hair type and style that were made out of real hair. Without spending a small fortune that is.
Undercut
I had one for a few years and loved it, but I never felt like it was quite right. Like the long hair seemed too thin to hang out there on its own.
I actually needed this reminder because I was wanting to do this hair style again, but knew there were reasons I grew it back out in the first place.
@LaserEyes Yeah that style has to be cut perfectly. Isn’t it funny though how we get/hear just what we need, right when we need it! Good luck with whatever new du you get!
@mediocrebot@xobzoo Is the person on the left pointing to themselves, giving the clowns the finger, or shoving a pen down their throat? (Or is that a bowling pin from the painting?)
At this point, I’d take anything. (Stupid bald head.) I used to have thick, luxurious hair. I also want credit for the curtain hairstyle. I had it years before Leo Dicaprio had it in Titanic.
Now that I’m healthy again, I’m slowly letting it get longer once more. I’m in my 50’s now and thankfully haven’t gone grey yet… so I’m going to grow it while I can. I’ve donated it twice and hope to do so at least one more time. When I got sick it was past my shoulders but after a two month nap, it started falling out in handfuls. It wasn’t healthy so I had to cut it all off. My daughter saw how upset I was that I couldn’t donate it, so she donated hers. Cool kid. I’m hoping I can pull this off again…
@capnjb
Wow, you’re lucky it will grow back the same. I’m thankful for my hair but I wish it was as thick as it used to be. I still remember the day all mine fell out and nothing is scarier than that.
@Star2236 Yeah, they say there are three things that are major contributors to hair loss. High doses of medication, rapid weight loss, and stressful situations. Going from 185 pounds to 125 in an induced coma for 6 weeks really checked all the boxes I also had a lot of nerve damage. Part of that was on the top of my head… thankfully that seems to have self corrected. Nerves heal, but they do so slowly. When I was losing my hair, I had to clear my hairbrush twice a week. There was A LOT. And then one day… everything was normal. I haven’t found one hair in my brush in the past year. It’s still very fine hair, but it’s healthy (and not falling out ) So I’ll just be thankful for that in this moment Hoping to have it back in a ponytail before fall
@capnjb
Mine was birth control medicine. But it was like I went through menopause (with the hair loss) and my hair never returned to normal. I now have half the amount of hair I had and still have to go through menopause. Good luck with your hair journey.
@Kyeh@metaphore@yakkoTDI
my daughter shaved her head (about 1/8" long hair) for a play that she needed to wear a wig for when she was in college. We told her it was better to do it then while she was young then try it when she was older and would take longer to “recover from” if she decided she didn’t like it. Actually looked pretty good on her (sort of GI Jane-ish)
Short!
/showme long elegant braided nose hairs with beads
@mediocrebot I don’t see any nose hairs
The one that stays on the top, not migrate down.
I used to have hair down to my butt, but it keeps getting shorter. Le sigh.
@brainmist If it gets too short you may have trouble sitting. You should see a doctor.

@brainmist ditto!

@brainmist @Kidsandliz @lisagd Too bad! It probably looked cool for those three days, though!
Fun fact
The hairstyle that anybody can pull off is the wig/toupee.

@Lynnerizer But it’s not permanently attached, right? So even with snaps, the hairstyle could be
pulled offremoved?@Lynnerizer @xobzoo
@xobzoo Yes, he would remove the hair but then all that could be seen was the snaps that remained sewn into his scalp, they’re permanent! Ew gross…

I wish I had enough hair to be able to have a hairstyle.
@werehatrack I think I can help you out. Let me check my trunk.
@yakkoTDI Not thrilled about refurb.
@werehatrack isn’t no hair itself a hair style?
@hchavers No-hair is a head style. It’s a hairstyle only if not collecting stamps is a hobby.
@werehatrack But the Kojack hair is a popular one with males!

I wish I could shave my head, but it has a funny shape to it, and not that many people are into bald chicks.
@metaphore A bald chick is one of the best visuals in Star Trek - The Motion Picture.
@yakkoTDI You’re into bald chicks, and I’m into it, but I feel like we’re in the minority, no matter how cool movies make it look.
@metaphore @yakkoTDI It seems like it’s accepted best on women with extremely feminine faces, like young Sinead O’Connor or Persis Khambatta.
@Kyeh @metaphore @yakkoTDI

Long, straight hair like the fiancé’s. I’m jealous of his.
@PooltoyWolf Yours is a neat color, though!
@Kyeh Thank you! I hope it stays with me LOL
@PooltoyWolf His might not stay either …
@Kyeh Color? No idea. Length? Probably will stay!

I’d like butt-length hair. What I end up with is naval-length hair (for some reason my hair grows over my eyes, not my back)
@pakopako Naval-length hair?
@Kyeh Ah, auto carrot gets me again!
(Though in that design, the 2" marker looks like a very large pompadour)
@pakopako Or like a vintage Ken doll:
