The new star design gave me a case of Vujá dé. Things should have felt familiar, but they didn't. It took me a while to figure out that the stars had changed.
@dashcloud I immediately noticed that the pages had changed somehow. I didn't realize exactly how until reading this thread. Note the comment bubble is also now an outline, instead of solid grey.
EDIT, and the Reply/Edit/Delete line is different too, but that goes away pretty quickly.
I don't care one way or the other. I really didn't notice till this thread popped up and I couldn't tell you what the old stars looked like other than they were star shaped. This sounds like some web design dweeb fishing for validation after devoting far more energy than is warranted to this life sustaining project. How many scrum hours were wasted agonizing over this anyway?
@PurplePawprints Well they asked. Personally the site could be black and white and all text and I'd be fine with it. It's the content that makes it rock.
@cranky1950 Also the stars are somewhat less usable than the old design. Where as before you new you had X likes, now it will take a newbie awhile to figure out that the number in the star is not just a random number. But hey what do I know?
I will say that I don't like it. It's a minor thing and not really all that important but from a user perspective I find it's extremely hard to pick out that it's a star. If I were a brand new user ,I doubt I would notice it for a while. It's a thin black line in a sea of white. Very hard to notice. It really just looks like a number next to the name.
It looks a bit more imperial to me, which implies the overbearing control. I do not think it's a coincidence that Meh has started bulldozing comments in product threads. I believe that this community will turn into an autocracy. The villagers of this monarch will identify @jont as the head chief of this movement.
@mehjohnson Same. On my phone at least, nothing is showing up but the numbers. The reply arrow is also invisible. I say invisible because I can click where I know it should be and the reply box pops up.
@mehjohnson Here's a screenshot. I'm just randomly tapping the general area I think it should be until the reply box pops up. Stars for the first post in the thread and on the topic list work fine, though. This is Chrome 39.0.2171.93 on Android 4.4.3.
Yo dawg, something is up with your .actions class list-style for .vote and .reply. While you're at it I'd like to suggest making them Rebecca Purple instead of gray. http://www.zeldman.com/2014/06/10/the-color-purple/
I was confused at first. I'm not sure if I like them or not yet.
They do look pretty good on my phone. Maybe it's all just a little small on my desktop.
@barney What did you do?! (Although this puts you in good company with the early goats-in-the-server-room).
@dashcloud Not much lately, but I'm working on it.
I didn't even notice until you mentioned it. At least they match the big stars now. Kind of a carpet/curtains thing.
@hallmike carpet? that't what they make razors for...
@dashcloud - Do you think it has anything to do with today's clickface? It kind of looks like there's a star.
@KDemo hadn't noticed that because I hadn't clicked the button yet, but it does look somewhat alike.
Saving the pixels for something important.

@hamjudo If I didn't have an easy comparison available, I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Me no like!
@SSteve And I'm super-creepy TV Producer Rob Lowe, and I have cable.

@cranky1950 If they were using Scrum correctly....none
@cranky1950 Well, aren't you just a little ray of sunshine this morning.
@PurplePawprints Well they asked. Personally the site could be black and white and all text and I'd be fine with it. It's the content that makes it rock.

@cranky1950 I've spent more time writing this comment than I did discussing the reply star design change.
@cranky1950 no we did it 'cause it's easier
@cranky1950 did someone shit in your cheerios this morning? Or are you always this "cranky"? I'll help myself off your lawn...
@Headly You think I was kidding when I said I never got the empathy or tribal genes?
Everybody, I don't understand why you're shocked that someone named @cranky1950 made a cranky reply.

@Bingo i think your monitor might not be calibrated well
@Bingo I've had no trouble seeing them on 4 different devices.

@Kevin
I was gonna say too much Lithium.
@PocketBrain
Stars need more purple.
Now they're boxes! I'm so confused!
I don't get stars OR boxes, but I can click the number to increment "star count" for replies... Firefox 35.0.1
@mehjohnson Same. On my phone at least, nothing is showing up but the numbers. The reply arrow is also invisible. I say invisible because I can click where I know it should be and the reply box pops up.
@mehjohnson Seeing the same thing here.
@PurplePawprints Yep, I replied the same way from Firefox 35.
Aurora(Firefox 37?) on Kindle shows the gray boxes instead. But Kindle's Silk browser shows nothing, same as Firefox 35.
Android 2.3.4 native browser shows me the hollow stars.
I'm not gonna wait for windows to boot to try an IE...
@mehjohnson It's the same in IE. Their FontAwesome font is broken.
@mehjohnson Here's a screenshot. I'm just randomly tapping the general area I think it should be until the reply box pops up. Stars for the first post in the thread and on the topic list work fine, though. This is Chrome 39.0.2171.93 on Android 4.4.3.

@Headly I also vote for the addition of purple things.
@Headly Aww, Rebecca Purple. Yes!
The stars are back!!!!!!
@lisaviolet @Headly @jqubed @mehjohnson @PurplePawprints @dashcloud @hallmike
@JonT
@JonT Could be the first time I've seen that used in a non-ironic way.
anyone else seeing this weirdness?
first shot is when i access the thread.
second is when i click the star.
third is if i unclick it.
win 7, chrome 40.0.2214.111 m
@carl669 yep, seeing it. looks like topic votes only (comments and replies are fine). we'll look into it.
@shawn excellent. here's a valentine's day card for you:
Why is this a thing? I think I'm missing something.
@Teripie I know what I missed! A question mark above.
