That right there is everything I know about Dishwalla.
Once when I worked on boats we were docked and a 150+ foot fancy (motor) boat came in. The crew just threw the dishes overboard. When they left someone from our (tall ship) boat went snorkeling and brought up tons of nice dishes (and silverware, glasses, cups…). I can’t imagine what the owner thought. Of course the owner may never have known if dishes were continually being bought and the accounting practices were, umm, a bit off.
Another “tall ship” boat (shall remain nameless to protect the guilty even though it has been years but one of the guilty parties is still working in that industry) I know of did an “interesting” pre-wash rinse. They used to put their dirty dishes in a net and drag them behind the boat before they’d finally get around to washing them. I don’t think they did that when passengers were on board though.
Almost forgot - they’d be listening to the sounds of the sea.
@zinimusprime Not cruise ship. These are replicas of pre-steam engine sailing ships. I used to work on them and have a USCG license for them.

back in 2003-04 the third shift retail job i was working had it in at least once nightly rotation(well…whatever muzac channel they played had it on nightly rotation…)
usually the tv is on in the living room, most likely whoever we were watching stream on twitch. but i can’t really hear it in the kitchen.
anything loud enough for me to hear clearly over doing the dishes (i wash under running water) would probably also be audible to our neighbors downstairs. i usually do dishes somewhat late and they have young children who are probably in bed by that time so i wouldn’t want to start blasting music or anything.
I’m into true crime podcasts, I listen to it almost all the time (including doing dishes). Now I’m on My Favorite Murder, that’s great! It’s a perfect mixture of discussing serious and frightening stuff with jokes and stupid comments.
