What did you do this summer?
13As some of you know, I took a few months off and wasn’t around to be in the forum. I’d love to know what you were up to for the last 3 months.
My family went to Virginia Beach and got to check out the aquarium. @puppycat had a blast watching the sharks and sea turtles.
I got to catch a few concerts - Alanis Morissette, Waterparks, and My Chemical Romance. All of them put on a great show.
We spent the rest of our time working on stuff around the house (home ownership is super fun).
So - what did you do? Do you have any cool pics to share?
Did I miss anything big?

Just got back from 10 days of travel in which I saw most of what London has to offer, yet again.
And got to squeeze in a few days in Iceland as well.
I have hundreds of photos to edit and share, but I’m happy to be back because too much time traveling will quickly wear you out.
@ExtraMedium
What year did you go to?
@rockblossom 2006, 2008-2011, 2018, and 2022. Have to say, 2022 has the best memories though not all change is good.
A very brief Seattle trip for moving things. 0/10 do not move in summer btw.
Not go on Vacation
@somf69 Also a non-traveler there.
Co-hosted a family reunion in Chicago (NW suburbs) celebrating my parents 60th wedding anniversary.
Also began hosting a foster dog we’ve named Bella.
@compunaut ooh, do you have pics of Bella?

@compunaut Oh my goodness. What a happy pupper!
Watched summer and my lawn pass away.
I spent the summer hoping that the *&$#^%@ Bahia grass was as dead as the rest of my lawn, only to find that it and the equally-hated dewberries were the only things that had come through pretty much unscathed. So now I have a shaggy and increasingly aggressive-vegetation mess out front. I am planning to rent a sod cutter next month, and scour the top two inches off, with the intent of replacing it with fresh sod during a season when I won’t have to water it every damn day to keep it from turning to dust and blowing into the street.
@werehatrack that sounds like a whole lotta work.
@Thumperchick I blame TXDOT’s infatuation with Bahia for that invasive pest’s presence.

Xeriscape?
If you are around Houston, maybe xeriscape with cuddly ‘gators.

@werehatrack In my experience, the Bahia that survives is superior to all the grass that doesn’t.
My front lawn is St Augustine (considered a weed where I grew up in the Midwest) and doing OK, but it isn’t easy.
The back yard Zoysia is barely holding on; too shady I think
