The dogs (Lucy and Sheeba) favorite toys ARE the cats. And interestingly enough, the cats (Scrappy, Maya, and Amelia) favorite things to ignore are the dogs.
My cat is quite partial to the house plants, if he can get ahold of 'em. He grows tired of their appeal and gives 'em back fairly quickly, though, along with whatever else is in his stomach at the time.
I have found dogs generally care more about sleeping than playing with toys.
With the rescue, she is afraid of toys. Sometimes she will interact with ones that don't make noise if she is really feeling wild and adventurous, but if any toy makes a noise she will hide.
My pets are high end snobs. Only real fur or feathers does it for my cat. Or a twist tie left on the floor...or bottle cap... I buy my cat fox tails and bunny fur puffs on amazon. If I don't pick them all up before I leave the house, the dog will tear it to bits.
My cats love the little tiny mice with catnip inside, they swat them around until they get lost under furniture. They also really like to sit in the cardboard boxes my toys come in.
Anything that squeaks, has boundless amounts of fluff inside, and has easily chawed-off appendages. Most toys that cost more than $10 don't make it past the 5-minute mark. With the now 3 yr old puppy, that is. My old dog couldn't care less (he has one favorite toy that he runs and catches once--maybe twice--before curling up for a nap).
My cats love Styrofoam, the kind that comes in box to keep a microwave oven, etc., intact. I try to keep it far away from them, and take it away as soon as they find it.
My pack-mate dogs all play with angels now. But a Kong with peanut butter inside it, or one of the cubes they could knock around that would disgorge treats at random were big hits with them here.
@duodec Mom's Cocker Spaniel had a Dice that you put tiny treats into for them to roll around and have them fall out a couple at a time. She loved it and it was fun teaching her how to use it
Any time a bug gets indoors... best cat toy ever. Next best is one of those micro quad copters they sell here from time to time. They also enjoy the stick with tassles or feathers. Ooooo, but the yarn... THE YARN MUST DIE!!!
The package of the toy I actually bought for my cat.
@metageist Have you seen this?

@Foxborn No but that's a great idea!

I thought I was probably the only one here without a dog or cat. Apparently I have company (though not the 4-legged variety).
@KDemo
I'm not exactly good with animals. It wouldn't be fair to myself (or them) to own one.

@Foxborn I haven't seen that before, but I had to make one!
My dog loves cardboard. Pieces of delivery boxes, paper towel rolls. Anything cardboard

And wife's Nicolai-kitty liked houseflies...
