What are you watching for the Olympics?
7The 2016 Summer Olympics are upon us and soccer has already started; what will you be watching? I’m interested in rugby’s return to the Olympics, and I’ll also be watching soccer, tennis, field hockey, team handball, maybe water polo, table tennis, and badminton.

The only things I usually watch are horse related, and this time they are broadcasting even less than usual. I’m not going terribly out of my way to watch it.
Not planning on watching unless local athlete is competing. IOC & NFL commissioner’s office are watching the same how-to videos. I’m out

Yeah I had to go to the ER and have my brain removed after watching that.

Brain removal isn’t a normal option at ERs around here either, but staff took pity. They used used a power drill and a shop vac. Messy but effective.

I am watching CSI:Brazil. Ted Danson & William Petersen team up with Gisele Bündchen (bet you didn’t know she was Brazilian) in speed round of autopsies and crime scene evidence gathering. The show will travel with them as they look at all the DNA scattered around the rooms at the Olympic Village. Whoa! Checkout how these rooms glow [turns on the woods light]
Besides Brazil does like have around 20 cities in the top 50 of murders per capita.

One year back when I had DirecTiVo I recorded and watched all the biathlon and curling and nothing else. It was my favorite olympics ever. The announcers were knowledgeable and passionate about their sport. Learning so much about those sports gave me a great appreciation for them.

I don’t really watch tv much so I don’t know how much I’ll catch. I like watching the horse events but they’re never broadcasted. I’d like to see fencing too since I did it for 3 years in college. Other than that, I’m not really interested.

Sadly, I’m not watching any of it because our local station is no longer an NBC affiliate and I don’t have cable. This sucks because it’s the only time I ever watch sports.

@jqubed Nope, it all requires cable/tv provider login. However, my sister is awesome and still a cable subscriber (don’t ask me why) so I was able to catch up on a few things. NBC’s site sucks for trying to find things easily and there is a lot that you can’t watch if it’s no longer live apparently. I was watching the late night review thing, started streaming after it had started, but was able to start from the beginning, and I had to pause it to do something. When I came back, it said coverage was over and wouldn’t let me watch. I’m tempted to use a VPN instead, but I didn’t really like the iPlayer setup any better.
@PurplePawprints A friend from high school is using Fibersat TV to get European feeds or something like that. Whatever she’s watching has French commentary. Her husband’s Moroccan (they got this so he could still watch the sports he likes), so I don’t know if maybe some Moroccan TV is in French or it’s just French channels. But she’s getting to watch everything and with no commercials.
The only reason I still have cable is for sports; I’d switch to Sling but my local hockey team has their games on a regional Fox Sports channel and Sling doesn’t have any Fox Sports channels yet.
@PurplePawprints I’ve also seen rumours that since Universal Sports died last year a streaming Olympic Sports service is going to start at some point providing full season coverage of sports rarely seen on TV in the U.S. outside of the Olympics. I’d be in almost solely for FIS Alpine Skiing and the sliding sports; everything else would be a bonus.

I’m so disgusted with NBC delaying broadcast that this Olympics has been ruined so far for me.

So now I’m in search of a website or stream that’s showing the events as they happen ( commercial free)
@Enigma The NBC site shows a commercial when you start streaming, then at normal points in the broadcast, like changing ends in tennis or halftime in rugby. They don’t seem to be interrupting competition, though. http://www.nbcolympics.com/live-stream-schedule
