@Cerridwyn@mycya4me we are similar but every other year or so we also get one ice storm and occasionally one or two flurries on either side during Not So Hot, just to mix it up. It’s been 80s and 90s within a week of some of the ice storms, but the storms themselves are usually just cold enough to cause problems.
@jsfs@mycya4me I actually remember the last time we got anything that vaguely resembled snow. I can’t be absolutely sure what year it was but I know where I lived and where I worked. And I overlapped those two places by only about a 5-year. Which would have been about let’s say 87 or 88. I have seen a little bit of hail since then but that’s about it. I remember when I first moved out here and it would get cold enough at night sometimes in the winter for the Citrus Orchards to have to take special measures to prevent frost from killing the trees. I honestly have no clue when the last time that was
@Cerridwyn I know some parts of Fla gets like that. I heard that they Spray the fruit with water so that the Water will freeze & that is like a coat for the fruit!
If this wasn’t really a political comment, but instead just a random ad hominem non sequitur attack on Florida, that’s cool, and I’m sorry for my rant. You do you and all that happy shit.
But please do not move to Florida! We have enough snooty outsiders down here now, clogging up our roads, restaurants, and previously wonderful quality of life…!
Still freaking cold here. Only place I’ve ever lived where I had to run the heater in August. Colder here than in Alaska. And 2 miles from here it’s warm, 10 miles away it’s 30 degrees hotter. So weird.
@accelerator Morro Bay California. It’s right on the ocean and the fog hangs over most of the time. I can drive inland 2 miles and it’s 10-15 degrees warmer. San Luis Obispo is 12 miles away and the weather is perfect (probably why it’s been populated for hundreds of years). And then another 10 miles up the road, it’s 100°+ all summer.
One day it was 55° here and we drove 25 miles inland and it was 101°.
I just moved here in February. I grew up in southern California, so I admit I am a total wimp. I also miss the sun.
@Fuzzalini it’s hard to leave southern CA! I lived on Maui in a small village called Pukalani. It is located upcountry on the volcano Haleakala. Always about 80 during the day and upper 60’s at night 365 days! Pukalani loosely means Hole in the sky to Heaven.
Now I live in the high desert of NM. It’s 103 today with humidity from Monsoon season.
@accelerator@Fuzzalini I lived in Monterey for 2 years and damn it if I didn’t want to come back to Southern California and I did. Hated Monterey for the exact same reasons you stayed about Morro Bay
Not the colder weather necessarily, but looking forward to my kitchen/dining room renovation to be done. We’ve been “glamping” all summer and it’s getting old!
Oh, and also harvesting our garden. Onions, potatoes, and carrots this year. We’ve been getting cherry tomatoes and mild peppers for a month or so already.
Our seasons are
so meh
@Cerridwyn yep

The colder months ending so we can get back to humane temperatures again…
@shahnm The hotter months ending so we can get back to humane temperatures again…
FTFY!
@PooltoyWolf @shahnm Heat can be deadly for older folks.
@PooltoyWolf @werehatrack So can cold. On balance, the old folks tended to move to Florida for a reason…
@PooltoyWolf @shahnm @werehatrack
HeatInflation (and cost of living in general) can be deadly for older folks.@phendrick @PooltoyWolf @werehatrack So, it turns out, can a pack of hungry leopards…
@PooltoyWolf @shahnm @werehatrack fuck Florida and its politics and the humidity. Oh and Florida man is dummer than Texas and that’s pretty hard
@Cerridwyn @PooltoyWolf @shahnm @werehatrack
Yeah, we see who’s “dummer”.
back at ya from the state of Friendship
@Cerridwyn @shahnm @werehatrack I was born here 35 years ago and I HATE how things have changed here.
@Cerridwyn @phendrick @PooltoyWolf @werehatrack Does it really have to devolve into this every “politics” season…? Even here, at Meh??

@shahnm you are mighty young!
@mycya4me I used to be. A long time ago…
@shahnm Nope not from my POV. I saw the 1st Star Wars in the movie house, 1st run!
@mycya4me @shahnm I think you’re thinking of @PooltoyWolf …

@Kyeh @mycya4me @PooltoyWolf I don’t know wtf is happening anymore.
@Kyeh @mycya4me @shahnm That makes two of us!
I’m looking forward to everything not being on fire.
Rain. Call me weird if you want. I like rain.
@tweezak You’re weird.
I have no strong feelings about rain, or about those who like it. I just wanted to call you weird.
@tweezak Ok you are Weird! But I like rain too, You can get some good photos! I know I am weird… Hey I am a geeky nerd!
No heat strokes.
I moved to Houston for its cool, dry climate.
@werehatrack
A lot of Holidays
@hchavers
Summer has a lot of holidays.
When the frosting is on the pumpkin, that’s the time to go to dunkin…
Winter means dead bugs.
The end of them
/giphy spring
Not melting.
@PooltoyWolf Same
Death of mosquitoes.
Getting to wear long pants agai…
Nah! I hate anything below 60°
the Amnesia of how when it’s cold, and I really want this hot weather instead, forgetting that this is too hot.
Lower electric/gas bills!
Pining for the fjords and the heat death of the universe.

@xenophod
Wow, is it almost November?
The cold, the snow, no yard work, no bugs.

@Fuzzalini ok. I give up. Where the heck are you?
@accelerator Morro Bay California. It’s right on the ocean and the fog hangs over most of the time. I can drive inland 2 miles and it’s 10-15 degrees warmer. @Fuzzalini I also lived in the San Joaquin Valley, Merced CA for a few years. Hot as hell there!
@accelerator @Fuzzalini I lived in Monterey for 2 years and damn it if I didn’t want to come back to Southern California and I did. Hated Monterey for the exact same reasons you stayed about Morro Bay
@accelerator @Cerridwyn Went to Monterrey on the 4th of July one year and it was so cold!! I totally get it!
Nothing. I like only needing to wear shorts and t-shirts.
@adr5 You must not walk on sidewalks like the ones here.
/showme Eggs and chicken frying on the sidewalk
@mediocrebot Uh, bot, the fire is built-in and the pans weren’t expected, though I guess are more hygenic.
/showme dog burning feet on the hot sidewalk
Something went terribly wrong. Please try again.
Not the colder weather necessarily, but looking forward to my kitchen/dining room renovation to be done. We’ve been “glamping” all summer and it’s getting old!
Temps not being 95-104°f
Summer, I live for it.
All of the above, not sweating so much during exercise and walks.
Oh, and also harvesting our garden. Onions, potatoes, and carrots this year. We’ve been getting cherry tomatoes and mild peppers for a month or so already.
Mostly sub-100 degree temps.
Would it ruin my online persona if I admitted, snuggles?
Cape season!
