There was just a major update reveal for Destiny 2 (video game for those not into that sort of thing) and now I’m excited about what the next year of stuff holds.
What about you guys? Anything coming up that’s got you hyped?
@Ignorant@sammydog01 There were some kids out but I didn’t participate. It was probably the thing I missed most through this whole mess. Well, that and common sense.
This year isn’t looking too promising but I’m hoping!
@Kyeh@ybmuG Last year one of the jars was grapefruit-dragon fruit. It was really good. All of them were really good.
Here’s the list from last year:
Apricot and Mango
Apricot with Bergamot
Apricot with Lavender
Blueberry and Blackcurrant
Cherry and Blackberry
Cherry with Christmas Spice
Cherry with Elderflower
Fig with Cardamom
Grapefruit and Dragon Fruit
Honey
Lemon and Yuzu
Mandarin
Mango, Peach and Lime
Orange with Cinnamon
Pear and Mirabelle Plum
Pineapple and Passion Fruit
Raspberry and Lychee
Raspberry and Redcurrant
Rhubarb and Strawberry
Seedless Raspberry
Strawberry and Verbena
Strawberry and Wild Strawberry
Sweet Orange and Passion Fruit
White Nectarine and Peach
@sammydog01@ybmuG That sounds wonderful! I’ve never seen a lot of those flavors - if you really love one of the unusual ones can you find the big jars anywhere?
@Kyeh@sammydog01@ybmuG only 3 in on that listing, and I’m already throwing things away unopened.
Bergamot is disgusting garbage. The smell just makes me nauseated…
Earl Grey can Rot in hell… or whomever concocted the tea named for him.
( I know the tea came about well after the man was dead and buried. he had nothing to do with it)
Frankly, I’d rather Try Durian Jam, than anything to do with bergamot.(which for some reason my browser thinks I mean ambergris, or if I Capitalize the “B”, Bertram…)
@blaineg@earlyre@Kyeh@sammydog01@ybmuG The scent of both bergamot and lavender instantly register as fancy soap to me so yeah, none in consumables for me either, thanks.
@blaineg@earlyre@macromeh@sammydog01@ybmuG
So how about cilantro? My whole family hates it. I don’t like the slice of lemon in a glass of water either because that makes it taste like dish soap to me.
@blaineg@earlyre@Kyeh@sammydog01@ybmuG Hmm, I enjoy cilantro in appropriate dishes and also like a slice of lemon in my ice water. I can’t stand goat cheese (tastes just like goats smell to me). FTR, my wife and kids like bergamot (and also goat cheese) - I don’t disparage their choices.
@blaineg@earlyre@Kyeh@macromeh@ybmuG My advent calendar just got delivered. There was a free piece of candy in it- Bergamote de Nancy. Yes, it’s bergamot flavored. I liked it.
Technically it was delivered to the asphalt because the bottom flap came loose and the delivery guy left a trail of packing peanuts from the street to my door. I had to go pick them up. A lot of them. Plus my free candy so it was worth it. I guess turning the box over was too much work.
Packing boxes for my move OUT of Flori-duh. (Born here, moved back 18 years ago after some traveling.) It’s much worse than shown on TV, and I’m scared. I’d rather deal with snow and a state income tax than crowds of unmasked Florida WoMan.

I kinda can’t get into the mood uptick for a new game or movie or flagship phone release at the moment.
So, apologies to all.
Maybe it’s just a bad week.
Perhaps I ought to be more appreciative of @sammydog01’s lovely list of flavors. And more appreciative of other small sweet moments.

Looking forward to having weather that’s pleasant for working out in my yard, which really needs it; I just can’t hack the 90+ temps, ugh. So I’m hoping for a beautiful fall, if possible.
Actually, yes. On a jet freighter right now, on his way to me, is the first prototype for the real, actual, physical, tangible, huggable inflatable PooltoyWolf, AKA Mactoy! To say I am excited would be an understatement.
@lisaviolet It’s not even close to over here in covid land the deep south. heat index was something like 110 yesterday. Now I would love for it to be over that is for sure! So with you on that.
@Kidsandliz Oh, it’s not close here, either, but we’re on the downhill side and I am so looking forward to it. It will be nice to have a natural breeze and not the fans going on high speed all day long.
Oh, and going along with the summer theme, we’re putting together a little outdoor movie theater for watching movies at night.

Halloween events (theme parks, home haunts, etc)
@Ignorant I can’t believe it’s already that time again! Maybe I can build my face mask into my face mask and actually go to a haunted house this year.
@ExtraMedium @Ignorant I’ve only used my theme park pass once this season. I plan on burning a hole in it during October for Halloween Haunt.
@ExtraMedium @Ignorant @sammydog01
What theme park?
@ExtraMedium @Ignorant @Star2236
Kings Dominion
https://www.kingsdominion.com/events/haunt
@ExtraMedium @sammydog01 @Star2236
We have Knott’s Scary Farm, Universal Halloween Horror Nights, and Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash out here.
@ExtraMedium @Ignorant @Star2236 I would totally go to the Oogie Boogie Bash.
@sammydog01 we usually do Disney and Knott’s.
Oogie Boogie will be in early Oct and if it’s like previous years we will walk out of there with more candy than we know what to do with.
@Ignorant Just having Halloween decorations and trick-or-treaters this year will be great!
@Ignorant Do they give candy to adults without children? Just in case I ever get out that way?
@sammydog01 they sure do!
@callow I agree. Last year was so strange having empty streets on Halloween.
@callow @Ignorant I didn’t think kids would show up last year so I only bought 30 candy bars. I had to turn off the lights at 8:30. Oops.
@Ignorant @sammydog01 There were some kids out but I didn’t participate. It was probably the thing I missed most through this whole mess. Well, that and common sense.
This year isn’t looking too promising but I’m hoping!
Just got my new sheets in the mail. Cannot wait to try them out!!!
@tinamarie1974
@compunaut oh, ha! Sadly I only meant to sleep on. Pretty boring in the TM household!!
@compunaut @tinamarie1974 According to Michael Bryce in the Hitman’s Bodyguard “boring is always best”.
I just ordered myself a jam advent calendar. Is that too far ahead to be excited about?
@sammydog01 will there be marmalade? If yes, then, no, it’s not too soon.
@sammydog01 @ybmuG
I wish Trader Joe’s would bring back their pink grapefruit marmalade! Or that someone else would start carrying it.
@sammydog01 My kind of advent calendar.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 pink grapefruit marmalade!!! Where has THIS been all my life? And now is gone, you say?
/giphy Oh the humanity!
@sammydog01 @ybmuG
So cruel, right? This place carries it but it’s more expensive and shipping’s not cheap either.

It’s from Bonne Maman. I highly recommend it.
@sammydog01 @ybmuG That sounds wonderful! I’ve never seen a lot of those flavors - if you really love one of the unusual ones can you find the big jars anywhere?
@Kyeh @ybmuG Nope, they’re special batches just for the advent calendar.
@sammydog01 @ybmuG Well, that could be kind of frustrating! I’d probably love the weirdest flavor and never be able to find it again…
@Kyeh @sammydog01 @ybmuG Well you could go buy each individual flavor if you could and then mix them to get the combos.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 @ybmuG only 3 in on that listing, and I’m already throwing things away unopened.
Bergamot is disgusting garbage. The smell just makes me nauseated…

@earlyre @sammydog01 @ybmuG
Throwing them away figuratively, I hope?
I tried durian ice cream in Thailand. It was … not good.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 @ybmuG yeah, I’m just reading the listing, but such is my visceral reaction to Bergamot. Full body heave
to be fully honest, I likely wouldn’t touch most of that list. probably just the honey.
in my 42 years I’ve liked 2 jams.
Grape. & Boysenberry.(but mostly Grape)
just not that Fruity…
@earlyre @sammydog01 @ybmuG
Well, then I don’t think you’d like durian jam.
@Kyeh @sammydog01 What? No prickly pear cactus? Elderberry? Gooseberry?
Though honestly, I’d try them all - and likely enjoy most.
@earlyre @Kyeh @sammydog01
Unless you mean a durian jam…session!
@earlyre @sammydog01 @ybmuG
That I DO like!
Who is it?
@earlyre @Kyeh @ybmuG Sounds like you’re not a jam person. Maybe check out the tool advent calendar @blaineg posted?
Test-tea Thursdays got me hooked on Victorian London Fog tea which has both bergamot and lavender. You would hate it.
@blaineg @earlyre @Kyeh @sammydog01 @ybmuG why about Toe Jam??
@earlyre @Kyeh @sammydog01
It’s some YouTuber named ELFguitarpicker.
He has a ton of “______ jam session” videos. Orange Marmalade sounds like I feel when I have it on toast.
And the Spicy Jalapeno!
And you gotta love the “I just plugged in and started recording” un-staged background - clothes on the futon, cleaning products on the table.
@blaineg @earlyre @Kyeh @sammydog01 @ybmuG The scent of both bergamot and lavender instantly register as fancy soap to me so yeah, none in consumables for me either, thanks.

@earlyre @Kyeh @sammydog01 ooOOOOoo, you gotta try some Sea Buckthorn Jam!
@blaineg @earlyre @Kyeh @macromeh @ybmuG My advent calendar just got delivered. There was a free piece of candy in it- Bergamote de Nancy. Yes, it’s bergamot flavored. I liked it.

@earlyre @sammydog01 @ybmuG
I just listened to that - love it!
I checked out his Instagram page too, very impressed. He sure has some gorgeous guitars.

@macromeh
Chaplin films and NKC songs are pretty sure things.

@OldCatLady
I just thought it was a kinda weird choice of week to drop this particular question. The very bad news has been pretty thick lately.
Hoping your move goes well. Hoping the winters don’t flummox you, since you aren’t accustomed anymore.
Where are you going? Someplace in OH? Cincinnati?

@Kyeh @sammydog01 Awwwww!! And yes, there will be pictures!

@dyounghbic “Family leeches”…hahahaha!
We’re going to the county fair tomorrow. I’m pretty excited to watch my 5 yr old really enjoy the games/rides.
@Thumperchick Fun! Will this be her first time there?
@Kyeh no, but it gets better every year to see her excitement.
I’m pretty excited to get a pair of ZMF Aoelus headphones that are shipping in a few days. Kinda specialized interest, but still, I’ll take my excitement where I can find it these days!
