what April Fool's jokes have you seen around today?
10I always looked forward to Google’s April Fool’s pranks but they have stopped doing them since the Minion’s mic drop got people fired and other crazy shit like that.
Has anyone seen anything memorable today?
BlueQ.com is opening a dairy farm and selling milk
The State Fair of Texas announced a Dating site, FairMates What better than finding your true love over a corny dog?
Heard on the radio, instead of 1-800 Cars for Kids it was 1-800 Eggs for Kids. Eggs are probably worth more these days than your junker car anyways.

@f00l
Void Linux Enterprise Edition is the only one I have seen today. Of course I don’t really look for them.
@yakkoTDI I also stumbled across the Gamers Nexus AI video.
KFC and the chicken flavored toothbrush
Yahoo has a grass covered keyboard for when you need to touch grass. It’s on tik tok, I don’t know how to post a link. You can even order it. On tik tok. Which I also don’t know how to do.
@sammydog01 that’s not a deficiency
The governor of CO posted an official portrait of himself:

Poking fun at the kerfuffle over Trump’s portrait that was taken down last week:

Also South Park is done by 2 Colorado guys.
FlightRadar24 claimed a British Airways Concorde was flying again for the first time in 21 years. I believed it for about 30 seconds and then I was pissed. LOL
@PooltoyWolf I found that site recently. Now I have a paid membership on my phone and sit on the deck watching planes fly to Europe. And a couple of Blackhawk helicopters.
@sammydog01 Same here, Gold subscriber for many years. I find it invaluable for all the info it provides, and it’s also useful when you’re flying yourself!
@PooltoyWolf @sammydog01 My setup for watching planes is a direct one. I got a software defined radio (SDR) from nooelec.com (a bit larger than a thumb drive) with a small antenna for about $50 and use it together with tar1090 software on my PC. It receives the signals from the ADS-B transponders all aircraft are required to have and plots them on the screen like a radar display, providing lots of info on each aircraft within receiving range. I suppose this is the input that FlightRadar24 uses. I live near enough to Boston’s Logan airport to see plenty of traffic almost all the time.
@ItalianScallion @sammydog01 Yes, FlightRadar24 gets their info from ADS-B receivers; in fact, you can set one up yourself, and they’ll even send you a receiver kit for free if you’re in a low-coverage area.
@PooltoyWolf @sammydog01 And one of my fellow ham radio operators told me that if you contribute the data from your radio to FlightRadar24 or FlightAware, they’ll give you free “premium” accounts. Naturally I’m concern about privacy issues and it’s not likely they really need my data anyway.
@ItalianScallion @sammydog01 If ADS-B data, there’s not really anything anyone can glean from it.
@PooltoyWolf @sammydog01 I’m concerned with one of those two websites associating my IP address with my longitude and latitude, i.e., my street address, and then selling that information or having it somehow become public.
@ItalianScallion @PooltoyWolf Experts for my stupid questions! What does this mean?

It came from Burbank.
@PooltoyWolf @sammydog01 do you mean the whole thing, i.e., each item, or something in particular?
@ItalianScallion @PooltoyWolf Why is there no information about it? Or is that common?
@sammydog01
the drug cartel prefers it that way!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ItalianScallion @sammydog01 Private jet owners often have their ADS-B info blocked specifically so us plebs can’t see it. Heh
@PooltoyWolf @sammydog01 I had no idea that aircraft owners could block ADS-B data. Anyway, I found this webpage has some good info on that if anyone else is interested.
@ItalianScallion @PooltoyWolf Damn, the drug cartel thing was more interesting. Thanks for the info.
@ItalianScallion @sammydog01 If it’s any consolation, more than once I’ve gone to look up what happened to an old airplane and the info says “crashed while smuggling drugs”!
@PooltoyWolf @sammydog01 I just looked up the Cessna 152 that I first solo-ed in about 35 years ago. I could have sworn it was wrecked a few years later, but the FAA says it ended up in Poland.
@ItalianScallion @sammydog01 Old airplanes never die, they just change hands! (Well, not never, but they do tend to last a long time.)
Here’s one I might expect to see here…

Hey - they updated the water offerings in the office today!

@ybmuG I want habanero honeydew to be a thing now!
Though if it’s free, I’m going for eggs!
@djslack @ybmuG I’ll have the gold.
@djslack @Kyeh between gold and eggs, it’s a toss up
@djslack @ybmuG But the gold won’t break when you toss it up …
That I’m still the goat even though it’s April.
@ItalianScallion You’ve just been so good they don’t want you to quit!
@Kyeh Sigh. Excellence always comes with a price.
And who is this “they”?
@ItalianScallion
Maybe you are the G. O. A. T. Goat.
@ItalianScallion Whoever turns the goat upside down.
Another April Fool’s joke: December, January, February, and March. Oh wait, that’s no joke.
@ItalianScallion
Pro Tool Reviews really got me! There’s a bunch…

https://www.protoolreviews.com/doge-mandates-power-tool-manufacturers-use-same-battery/
@llangley The second I read there would be a buy-back program, I would have known it was a prank. There’s nothing DOGE-y about that.
@ItalianScallion Exactly. But I didn’t realize until I clicked for more info
The Home Depot charging for parking and OSHA-approved Depends for construction workers stories?? Hilarious!
@ItalianScallion @llangley
This I can get behind!

(I iz not a cat.)
The link is gone now but I grabbed the screenshot. (I get their Pistachio Syrup all the time and was intrigued by the Dill Pickle Syrup)

@llangley I hate the term “girl dinner” but these syrups sound kind of good!
@llangley I would have definitely bought the dill pickle syrup!
@llangley
Pistachios have always been a favorite of mine but what do you use the syrup on?
@Lynnerizer there was a restaurant in Ybor that made the best chicken salad croissant sandwiches; they also had milkshakes and their pistachio was the absolute best! So I got the syrup and realized that I don’t like milkshakes enough to make my own
. But a splash in coffee (or iced coffee) is wonderful!! I think Monin makes the best flavored syrups and they’re nearby in Clearwater (although there’s no storefront, aĺl online orders). I also get the Madagascar Vanilla to switch up my coffee game. And the Root Beer syrup for old-fashioneds to copy the Outback recipe.
️
TL:DR Coffee
@llangley
When I was a kid I used to make them often, peanut butter was a good one. In HS we got a new milkshake machine when I was a senior, I’d have one every day for lunch.
I probably thought I was breaking the rules, I mean who’s aloud to eat only ice cream for lunch…
Oh, I hadn’t thought about milkshakes. I don’t LOVE milkshakes either but I’d probably make one at home before I’d buy one anywhere else!
I do like flavored coffee so I’d use the syrup in there, caramel and vanilla are my favorites. I also used to drink vanilla Coke, that’s delicious!
@Lynnerizer just got this email today
https://monin.us/pages/coffee-sale
@llangley @Lynnerizer Yummmm!
@llangley Thanks for sharing!
Does this count? Chrisfix did a Tesla engine oil change:
@narfcake
Amazing!
(but I have to say the Solo Cup trick for the filter was GENIUS!)
@chienfou FWIW, it’s Rich’s V8 Tesla that he started on several years ago:
(It was done as a middle finger to Tesla because they wouldn’t sell him parts to rebuild that Tesla, whereas he could buy a LS crate motor without any issues from GM.)
