@tinamarie1974
Oh YES, hash browns OR any potato derivative works for me! French fries has ALWAYS been MY favorite!! I even have a story! (for another time)
Yum, yum, YUM!
All of the above… plus French Toast…plus grits…plus home made biscuits with lots of butter and jelly/jam.
Actually, I haven’t met too many breakfasts that I didn’t love! Esp. when I’m traveling. Somehow breakfast is always better when you’re on the road!
@mike808@tinamarie1974 Grits are corn, but CoW is similar and I do like it. We used to get Ralston Wheatena when I was a kid - kind of the whole wheat version. My favorite because it needs nothing is Bob’s Red Mill 7-grain hot cereal, but they haven’t had it in months.
Steak and eggs, side of shredded hash browns with onion fried in like Walker Brothers restaurants do.
Walker Bros. '49-er Flapjacks (plate size sourdough pancakes) redolent with butter and real dark amber maple syrup. With side of shredded hash browns with onions fried in.
Jones Dairy Farm scrapple with eggs, side of shredded hash browns with onions fried in.
Bacon! Just Bacon! With eggs. And maybe shredded hash browns, with onions fried in
Every meal with eggs, the yolk must still be runny but not the whites.
Periodically we will make our family breakfast slurry in the big cast iron skillet. Potato hash (with the little cubed potatoes, nicely browned in butter), diced sweet onion (cooked until soft then added), crumbled bacon, crumbled breakfast sausage (already cooked), steak chopped into little pieces, several eggs mixed in, cooked, then cover in the pan with a layer of fiesta blend (four cheese Mexican) shredded cheese. Break several more eggs on top, put the lid on, and cook until the egg white are set.
It can usually be sliced like a pie and served in pieces on a plate with a whole egg on top.
And while I’m disappointed in Rouses right now after Rouse Sr’s participation in the Jan 6 rally to incite insurrection, I ain’t gonna lie - this is bread pudding on crack.
i prefer sausage links to bacon though, and my eggs over medium. (or scrambled if i’m cooking.) will add french toast, crepes, corned beef hash, omelettes, grits, home fries, soft boiled eggs, buttered toast (jam at the table), mcdonalds hashbrowns, and dutch babies as some other great breakfast items not listed, but mine is certainly not an exhaustive list.
All of the above, minus the bacon (I don’t eat meat), but also muesli with yogurt, migas, ricotta pancakes, matzo brei…Breakfast is my favorite meal, any time of day.
I cannot believe no one has said creamed chipped beef on toast (or biscuit, waffle, etc.). Also known as SOS. So I’m adding my vote for that, but I also love most of the other things already mentioned, and others not yet mentioned like baked oatmeal. Breakfast! The most important meal of the day.
@caramelarrow There is the beloved hangover cure, the Saturday 4am breakfast above all other breakfasts, “The Slinger”. 2 cheeseburger patties on top of hashbrowns, eggs, bacon, cheese, onions, and smothered in chili.
/image st louis slinger
@caramelarrow@ybmuG Nope. No mac’n’cheese or O’Brien potatoes. Shredded hash browns. 'Murican cheese slices on dem burgers. And the chili has beans. None of that Cincinnati chili crap. That shit’s like burnt tendons and cumin puree.
/giphy that nasty.
@caramelarrow@mike808 sorry Mike, not mac and cheese, it’s mac salad and it’s an option, but one I highly recommend. And not Cincinnati chili, it’s a meat hot sauce. If you’ve never had it, you don’t know what it is. I agree on the Cinci chili. This ain’t it. And there are beans - they’re baked beans. And those are home fries which, frankly other restaurants do better, but Tahou’s is where it all started which was my only point.
I’m sure yours is fine, just that it’s a decedent from the original (1918).
@caramelarrow@mike808@ybmuG Yikes. If I try to eat a breakfast like that my stomach goes completely haywire - I just can’t take anything really heavy to start the day!
Hash browns crispy then covered with shredded cheddar sufficient to make a wide skirt of fried cheese goodness all around. Two over medium eggs on top and sausage gravy if I’m extra hungry.
yes… all the above
@chienfou Exactly. Who is gonna turn down breakfast?
@chienfou @DoctorOW And Yes to any restaurant that says “Breakfast All Day”
Hash browns
@tinamarie1974
Oh YES, hash browns OR any potato derivative works for me! French fries has ALWAYS been MY favorite!! I even have a story! (for another time)
Yum, yum, YUM!
@Lynnerizer such a tease!!! Story please
Pancakes with real maple syrup and about half a stick of butter
Biscuits and gravy a close second!
@cpierce, I’m a syrup snob, it’s gotta be real maple. I’ll pass on the butter though.
French toast, fools.
@melonscoop Or even better, french toast bake:
monte cristo sandwich
@panafonics
YUM! Always a favorite but we have it for lunch or dinner, never for breakfast, WAY too heavy!
hmmmm
well
eggs, over medium, with a high quality white or sourdough bread - brioche works well - toasted and buttered.
waffles and apple butter
baked french toast - add some vanilla
biscuits and gravy made with good sage sausage
pancakes with loads of butter - syrup fruit or caramel sauce optional.
@Cerridwyn All at the same time? Not judging, just asking. Sounds like a fine morning, though I’d need a bit of coffee and a few hours.
@ybmuG
of course not
just too many excellent ones too choose from.
Oh, a good cheeseburger quiche (I know, not traditional, but yummy)
/image moonstruck eggs
Last night’s pizza.
(But with today’s cold beer, if reheated.)
@phendrick with a poached or fried egg on top. Mmmmm
@phendrick reheated beer sounds gross
@IWUJackson, that’s what I was thinking
/image octopus

Chorizo, potato, egg, and cheese taquito
@mvalleeis This! (Except Burrito!)
Buttered grits. With two soft-boiled eggs or over easy, shattered bacon. Pop the yolks and taste the bliss.
And a side link of boudin. Red if I’m feeling the need for something mineral.
I’ve probably done this before, too.

/giphy “second breakfast”
@f00l by the time you finish the 10th breakfast, do you kinda just skip lunch ?
All of the above… plus French Toast…plus grits…plus home made biscuits with lots of butter and jelly/jam.
Actually, I haven’t met too many breakfasts that I didn’t love! Esp. when I’m traveling. Somehow breakfast is always better when you’re on the road!
Stroopwafels! (I have to finish all these by Feb. 24 when they expire!)
@jimdkc, that’s just a suggested date
@kittykat9180 Shhh… I’m trying to be funny!
Coffee!!
For fancy breakfast, shrimp and grits
@evbarnstormer “Fancy breakfast” is called “brunch”. And you forgot the mimosas.
You know what I don’t see on anyone’s list? Cream of wheat. No takers? No fans? Thought so.
Grits, FTW!
/image kiss my grits
@mike808 so grits and Cream of Wheat are not the same thing??? Never had either, but thought they were the same!!! Quaker Oats here
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 Grits are corn, but CoW is similar and I do like it. We used to get Ralston Wheatena when I was a kid - kind of the whole wheat version. My favorite because it needs nothing is Bob’s Red Mill 7-grain hot cereal, but they haven’t had it in months.
@mike808, pass that cream of wheat, I’ll take some.
@mike808 @tinamarie1974 Cream of Wheat is like grits… but with no flavor and worse texture!
@jimdkc @tinamarie1974
Cream of wheat is why kids eat paste in daycare.
/giphy eggs
@somf69 Even Giphy knows to add bacon!
Chocolate croissant with cafe mocha
Eggs over easy with buttered toast and bacon. Mash the eggs so they’re a runny mess and dip the toast.
Steak and eggs, side of shredded hash browns with onion fried in like Walker Brothers restaurants do.

Eggs and grits mixed up together with bacon on the side
Since it is Mardi Gras season, somebody gotta set y’all straight…
Cannoli-filled King Cake
Have a piece, …
And to touch up your coffee, …
And while I’m disappointed in Rouses right now after Rouse Sr’s participation in the Jan 6 rally to incite insurrection, I ain’t gonna lie - this is bread pudding on crack.
/image Chapelle y’all got any more of that
@mike808 that king cake looks delicious
@mike808 @tinamarie1974
the king cake cream looks tasty, but I hit Rouse’s for the Praline liquor usually!
@chienfou @tinamarie1974
For savory breakfast, there’s Boudin King Cake!
For the DIY crowd, if you can source your own boudin, …
@chienfou @mike808 that looks amazing
@mike808 @tinamarie1974
Nice! Sounds fantastic. And for some reason made me flash to turducken!.
2 eggs sunny side up, 2 pieces buttered rye toast, 1 piece of bacon. Pot of coffee.
a little of everything please!
i prefer sausage links to bacon though, and my eggs over medium. @ahacksaw corn beef hash has meat
I love pancakes with bananas in them.
Waffle House style hash browns. Onions, ham, cheese. Extra crispy.
Also German apple pancake like they serve at original pancake house.
Bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, and capers. Shot of vodka.
@probablecaws I’ll go with the bagel and smoked salmon (lox) cream cheese and sweet onions.
@Felton10 you got me on those sweet onions. But I make my own smoked salmon so I have to like it better than lox.

@caramelarrow @Kyeh @ybmuG
It’s not a breakfast to start the day.
It is a breakfast to solemnify the end of yet another legendary evening of youthful debauchery.
@caramelarrow @mike808 @ybmuG I don’t think I’ve ever been drunk enough to be able to stomach that “garbage plate” - that’s scary.
@caramelarrow @Kyeh @mike808 @ybmuG ummmmmhashbrowns are not good on the way back up. Just sayin
French Toast!
Hash browns crispy then covered with shredded cheddar sufficient to make a wide skirt of fried cheese goodness all around. Two over medium eggs on top and sausage gravy if I’m extra hungry.
