Dimmable is nice. Bright white? Meh. Also: looks like only 3 LEDs. I’m sure they’re bright enough, but how even is the light they cast? I prefer a warm white diffuse glow under my cabinets, not separate pools of light.
Cool, so you make me feel like a stupid shit because I bought those cheaper lights? I’d have to get 5 of these and spend $100 for the same overall coverage. Fuck you meh!
@robson Meh claims that the previous ines were marketed as cheap shit, but they lie. Meh specifically said “These are rigid strips of middle-end LEDs”. Get your story straight, meh.
@njd Yeah, or maybe lighting up glass front tower cabinets from IKEA, which is what I’m considering doing (when I REALLY should be securing our crap before the hurricane blows in).
You guys should see if you can get some of these: http://www.hisgadget.com/product/oxyled-t-02-led-motion-sensing-light-copy/
I’ve got two and they are really nice. I got them for $12 each, but for the right price I would definitely get more. Different application than the light you’re selling today, but still… Almost 5 stars on Amazon!
They say these are dimmable, but it looks like you have to use the built-in dimmer switch. Does anyone know if they would be dimmable using a wall switch?
I lit up two kitchens with similar lights from General Electric. 22 inches long, illuminated continuously (not just three little spots), $25. I got them from Mall Wort. After shopping a half dozen other stores, I found these were the best combination of features and price.
So if you are intrigued by the concept, meh is not the only good source of the product.
Last time they ran the Westek light strips, I bought a set for the armoire/bar. It’s incredibly flimsy plastic and made incredibly cheaply. That being said, I guess it does what it’s set out to do, but just beware that it’s not quality stuff.

Bright idea - see what you’ve been missing ?? For a man cave --light bar -watts up meh!
Why, yes, they ARE linkable. Why do you ask?
What’s the mileage on that Kia?
@StGermain I have one that’s got about 133,000 and I love it!

Is this really a deal at $20?
@Stallion
More than a $ an inch?
Here, this one dims and changes color for like 10% of that cost https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00ASHQQKI/
@mehdaf That’s for lighting up the side of a house or something, not illuminating stuff. They’re fancy Christmas lights and this is a desk lamp.
@oregon_ian more like an under counter light… the others are stage lighting…kinda like-a totally differenta thinga!!!
Bought 6 of them. My biggest meh order ever. This may have been a bad idea.

@MrGlass
Yep!
@mehdaf I have a very specific thing I need to light. These could either be perfect, too many, or utterly useless. We shall see.
@mehdaf Oh, I forgot one more option: these don’t arrive early like I am hoping & I need to buy something else to use new weekend
@MrGlass Do you have a very specific set of skills…? Lighting skills?
@GLaDOS I have a very specific set of skills…
Not in lighting though. Or in the other construction aspects of this project. This could all go terribly wrong.

@mhuyck I’m OK with the color, but it’s the three LEDs that keep me from ordering. I’d like more even coverage.
If they were cheaper I’d probably still buy three or four.
A little too spendy, this one.

@awk LOL, love that gif that giphy found for you.
/giphy super spendy
Can you sell these again in about a month? I think I want some but won’t be sure until I’m in my new house.
@metaphore they’re available on tanga today … so you may have gotten your wish.

@GLaDOS Wait, this is the same brand. So these were cheap junk but the ones today are quality? I’m suspicious.
What do you do with these? Specifically would they be ok for backlighting one of those dust collecting over head space areas newer houses have?
@njd Yeah, or maybe lighting up glass front tower cabinets from IKEA, which is what I’m considering doing (when I REALLY should be securing our crap before the hurricane blows in).
Hmm, I was just thinking it would be nice to have more light under my kitchen cabinets…
@jqubed Odd, I was thinking it would be nice to have more kitchen cabinets under my light. Different strokes for different folks.
Wondering if one of these would make a good light for the top of my dart frog terrarium - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OAYXTK/
I think I’ll sleep on it and do some more research in the morning. Any input from the peanut gallery here?
If you have any that’s battery operated, let me know. I like this kind of light bar for black outs. I like LOTS of light, though.

334 lumens of plain old white light, no RGB or anything? For $20 each? Pass.
They say these are dimmable, but it looks like you have to use the built-in dimmer switch. Does anyone know if they would be dimmable using a wall switch?

334 Lumens, that’s about as much as a 40 watt bulb. Not really enough to use under cabinets in the kitchen… no thanks.
334 lumens from 9 watts? Only 40 lumens/watt?
Not too bright.
The $10 lights were 184 lumens from 3.9 watts (47 lm/W)
And the bulbs give 800 lumens from 9 watts (89 lm/W)

The cheap ones are brighter per watt. It isn’t 334 lumens vs 47 lumens, it’s 40 lumens vs 47 lumens. These are way overpriced.
I just bought 2, I hope the application I want to use them for works. I won’t know if they were worth it until I have them.
This thing is terrific. Since my wife loves not to turn off lights, I no longer worry about it. No heat and uses almost no electricity.
