This is one of about 25 different national fill in the blank days for felines, and there are at least three that are simply national cat day. The cats obviously have amazing PR people working for them.
According to Wikipedia, National Cat Day exists on a different day in each of 5 countries. But it turns out that Canada picked August 8th, which coincides with the international holiday. (or maybe the Canadian cats are more influential, and the international day copied them?)
@Kyeh Yeah, some of that bulk is long/thick fur, but they have an overeating issue. We’ve tried to cut them back, but my wife usually gives in to their pestering.

@werehatrack Yeah, I was wondering about that. Mostly I remembered this day already happening in this forum not too long ago, but it turns out that was international cat day instead.

Thanks! I was going to note that but didn’t get to it. Any excuse to post cat pictures is okay by me! Here’s Toby:
And here’s my brother’s strange but beautiful little Tonkinese. She can be sweet but she’s very very shy, and sometimes bites without warning.
Since he’s always judging me anyway, I put my cat’s picture up on my fridge as a diet aid.
@gogrrl Purrfect!
This counts, right?
