Yeah, I do not appreciate the Christmas decor before Halloween. Retailers can at least wait until November to cram music, displays, merchandise, etc down our throats.
I feel like it won’t be that long before “Christmas in July” is when displays start showing up in stores.
It bothers me that I have to start my annual online and mail chastising of retailers that steal Thanksgiving (and more and more, Christmas) from their employees, having “Black Friday” sales starting right at dinnertime of Thanksgiving day, and “Day after Christmas” sales starting on Christmas afternoon. They are evil, heartless, cruel, grinch-like and they suck.
Man, and I guess they really one-upped all those other products that just have video games, like 7 Up, Domino’s Pizza, Pepsi, Cap’n Crunch, Kool Aid, Purina Dog Food, Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonald’s, and Charles Barkley.
@RiotDemon@tinamarie1974 Santa is depicted with his eyes close to symbolize the blind consumerism that has corrupted Xmas. Hands are off the wheel and the vehicle is shown crashing into other holidays which speaks to the damage this reckless attitude has on our society.
This past weekend there were already wall to wall Christmas movies on the hallmark channel.
We were at a friend’s house who has satellite and I saw it when they were flipping through the guide. They could have been doing it for a month already, I wouldn’t know.
@djslack I wouldn’t know either. I’ve never watched that channel. I ran a store that sold used DVDs, and we couldn’t give away the Hallmark Channel ones.
I have a serious vendetta against Christmas music to the point that I leave stores if they play it too early in the year.
And luckily my wife mostly agrees with me, although she’ll convince me we need some Christmas music in the home about once per year, so I’m then extremely picky about what recordings I’ll let into my home.
@luvche21 I have to admit that I’m guilty in one aspect…I purchased the new Rob Halford (Judas Priest) Christmas record & received it last Friday. I haven’t listened to it yet as I intend to wait it out until after Thanksgiving if possible.
And then adding insult to injury, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is performing on November 14th locally so I’m sure to get a little early Christmas in…Firmly in the #WayTooEarly crowd, but can’t miss this show!
@tohar1 I don’t think a Judas Priest album would convince me anyway, although it does fit in the same vein of “far enough away from traditional instrumentation” that I might allow it from time to time, which is normally the only ones I allow in my home. Nothing with sleigh bells in the instrumentation. Preferably no voices at all either (however from time to time an actual choir is OK, but most of the time it’s too hokey).
@luvche21@yorkrk I do have that as well as almost everything that is hard rock/heavy metal Christmas. I actually do like the season, just not before Thanksgiving!!

@tinamarie1974 I worked at a Hallmark store. They had Christmas in July. Listening to the musical ornaments for months drove me crazy.
I still work retail, and Christmas stuff doesn’t bother me. It does bother me if Christmas music starts playing before Thanksgiving, however.

#SaveThanksgiving. Keep Black Friday on Friday.

@tinamarie1974 wonder why the original Santa was covered up with the anime version.
@RiotDemon i thought that was odd too!
@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 This is a more accurate depiction of the real Santa.

I was at church just yesterday and it was all “Jesus this,” and “Jesus that.”
It’s not even Halloween yet.
At least it’s not Christmas music yet.

@luvche21 @tohar1 Try Gary Hoey’s Ho! Ho! Hoey.
…after Thanksgiving of course.
@tohar1 @yorkrk Not just after Thanksgiving, but maybe December 24th?
@luvche21 @yorkrk I do have that as well as almost everything that is hard rock/heavy metal Christmas. I actually do like the season, just not before Thanksgiving!!
@luvche21 @tohar1 @yorkrk Including Thrashing Through the Snow: A Very Megadeth Christmas?
@Limewater @tohar1 @yorkrk still not gonna listen until mid December (although I have vague memories of listening in the past)
I recommend good headphones.
Altho @RiotDemon in particular might not be able to use them when needed, due to work duties.
I think you meant to say sleigh too soon?
@Targaryen One can never slay too soon.
