Not a phone, but back in high school I had an iPod Video (5th gen). On a trip to a one act competition, my friend and I duct taped my iPod to the bus seat and watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Actually she tried to watch it, I fell asleep and she got a lovely picture of me passed out, mouth agape, forehead next to the lying next to the affixed iPod.
It’s like time traveling back to when I was a kid and had a 10"-14" TV in my room (when I wasn’t misbehaving)…but worse as it’s now a 5"-6" screen I have to hold. But at least it’s color now.
My old Cherokee had an aftermarket 3.5" or 4" screen to go with its in-dash DVD player. I can’t tell you how many movies I watched on that tiny little thing while working security stakeouts. A phone with audio to the speaker system would have been an upgrade.
I do this if I don’t have any shows that I want to watch while I’m at work. Mainly for background noise, and mainly something I’ve already watched and don’t mind missing part of.
Voluntarily watching a movie on a phone may well be the most millennial-defining thing one can do.

@shawn_mitch I used to watch movies on my Ipod Touch but it’s been a very long time.
I used to watch filmstrips on my Show’N Tell but it’s been a very VERY long time.
Watch a movie on a phone? Why would I do that when I have 3 TVs (2 of them smart TVs) to watch? Maybe if I was a teenager and bored.
Three TVs? You must have extra large pockets.

i can barely sit through a one minute instagram video on my phone…so no lol.
although when it comes to movies i can barely sit through an entire one on our nice big tv, so. (but binging six hours of a series, this is fine.)
A movie? No. But I will routinely watch TV shows or sporting events on my phone through various streaming apps.

If a screen was big enough for me to watch things, it would be too big for my stubby fingers to hold onto it… Catch-22

Maybe if delayed in an airport. But I normally have my tablet with me so I’d watch stuff on that instead.
