Want a Fuku bag?
25I have a friend, who has a friend, who knows someone who wants to give away some Fuku bags. There are four of them; one is a Kickstarter bag, and another one is a drawstring. The other two are... Fuku bags! If you are interested, please post here and if you have a preference. (These are empty bags without any goodies in them.)
If more than four of you want one, a drawing will be held. My, uh, friend would prefer to give these to Mehniacs who have not scored a Fuku and think that "not in a million years" will they ever get one.

While I'd love to say I want the Kickstarter one... the following would happen.
A) My wife would kill me... (she says I have enough crap from MEH.)
B) I don't qualify as I've received all but 3 fuku's so far.
C) the want in me to collect all the fuku bags grows, but I really don't need... and would just horde them...

@sohmageek The Kickstarter bag looks just like the others except it has black, meh.com printing at the bottom. No biggie deal. (I wouldn't want your wife to kill you.)

I have never scored a FUKU :( I would like an empty fuku bag. It would be empty like my fuku-less soul. (KS sounds nice, but it would remind me too much that I don't have a K) No K, no fuku - why do I even mehsist.

@sohmageek I'm not sure if you're asking about a Fuku bag or beer? If it's a bag, I have none so anything will shine in my collection. If beer, today was a tasty Davidson Brown. I'm trying really hard to ration my treats but I gave the 15-year-old her second driving lesson today. I'm really glad that @humper sent me two of everything!

I'd be interested, if they aren't all claimed. (Honestly, I know how to count to four... I just got... lost. I didn't sleep enough.) And if I qualify. I have never gotten a fuku. Though, I did manage to snag one of the fukos. Yes, the one time I succeeded, it was the *un*lucky bag. There was a fanny pack in that thing, so I'm not entirely bagless.

TIA: I already have fuku bags, and use them for groceries. If you are asked by the teenager who is loading your bags what the characters mean, you probably shouldn't say 'fukubukuro'. I did that, and a very nice lady in the checkout line corrected me. It's 'fukubukuro'. Oh. I thanked her and didn't try again.
I've an Eastie and will never get a Fuku. I wake up at 5am and will never, ever stay up until midnight. I would like a bag if you deem me an acceptable mehniac. I don't have a preference.

@LaVikinga I was just thinking the same thing! I actually just walked upstairs to look at my Kickstarter stash because I don't remember getting a Meh bag. What I did get was a paper bag to make my own puppet. But no other bag was included. I did get a birthday Fuku so I at least have that.
@tinkertime I did the same thing. Just the paper bag. I guess they ran out of them somewhere along the line. Overall, despite not getting the bag, I did receive an interesting haul of stuff. Junk I've actually used!

@LaVikinga I just checked my Mom's Fuku bag collection (hi, Mom!) and even though she has snagged three Fukus, including the Kickstarter, she only has two bags. I really think that there is no bag for the Kickstarter. Sorry for all of the excitement. Now, where is my favorite purple crayon?

@mikibell Thank you. Mom is still in the re-hab unit and will be there about another month. [That's the reason I can paw through her stuff--she's not around :) ] They have her walking all over the place and she's looking good. They continue to work on her upper body strength. I can't wait for her to get home.

I think I trashed the fanny packs cause I was so sad. My single bag has a hole in it already just from using it for groceries, so the fanny packs were just such a meh item cause it wasn't a bag.

@mfladd Shoot! I forgot to bring the password to my email account. (I think I'm "losing" it.) I'll be heading home in a couple of hours to sign for a new portable commode that I had ordered for Mom (sigh), so I'll get my password. Anyway, what's happened is that Mom has had a stroke and is in the hospital--she has aphasia. There is no weakness of her body, except, of course, her hip. I have enough of the social worker left in me that my knowledge of aphasia makes me a little dangerous. No one is telling me anything right now, because we are waiting to see if there is going to be further damage.
So, rather than bore everyone here with my questions (and maybe you won't be able to help me), I'll let loose in an email. Thanks!

@KDemo No, they think it happened during the night. They found her this way when she was getting ready for breakfast. TPA has about a 4 hour window. After that, it can do more damage than good.
Edit: Right now, I'm watching the therapist and Mom walk down the hall, so that's a good thing.
@Barney I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you can get all the help and answers possible. Great big purple hugs to you, and all the good juju I can put into the world for her.

@mfladd @KDemo @jaremelz Here's the latest update. First I must tell you that this happened yesterday or perhaps the night before. We spent most of yesterday in the emergency room because two out of the three main hospitals in our town are full. Anyway, things were not looking good. She could say very few words, and those were hard to understand. She couldn't seem to remember her full name, DOB, etc. She could follow some commands, but was confused by others. The nursing home thought it was a TIA, but it was a stroke.
However, today things are better. Speech is still hard to follow, but she's saying more words than yesterday. She still has a lot of confusion though. Not sure how much she is understanding. But you should have seen her power walk with her therapist. She was zooming down the hall. Perhaps it was because we told her she couldn't eat until she walked? :)
Looks like they are going to keep her in the hospital for a couple more days. @mfladd when I get back to the hospital I will start my email to you with my therapy questions.
Now, where the heck is that delivery guy?

@Barney - Sounds like she's improving relatively quickly. Strokes are always so frightening. Do they have a speech therapist where she's getting rehab? You both have been through so much, time for everything to get back to normal. Hope you get some sleep tonight.
@KDemo yup. good call. A speech therapist needs to assess whether it is receptive or expressive aphasia. From the early reports by @Barney it sounds like it is receptive.

(I'm very scared). @mfladd I just got home it's been a very long day with nothing accomplished. I seem to have missed every doctor's visit (note to self: stop going to the bathroom). Also, I couldn't get back on the hospital's wifi when I got back this afternoon. -sigh- I haven't started your email. I'm tired and I'm going to grab a bite to eat and go to bed. Will try writing to you tomorrow. Nite-nite. Oh, and they do have a speech therapist where she is rehabbing and it looks like she will be going back there. Hope to know more about that tomorrow.

@Barney - If the staff won't find you when the doctor comes by, you might ask them to put a note in her chart that you want to talk. The provider will be sure to see that. Good luck.

@OldCatLady She's not any better, if anything she's worse. Tomorrow, Mom has an appt. with one of her own doctors. I'm not too impressed with the rehab doctor and what he is prescribing for Mom's blood pressure. Maybe her regular doc will light a fire under him. I hope.

@jaremelz Well, I've lost nine pounds since all of this started, but I don't recommend this as a weight loss program.
@Barney No, not a good weight loss plan at all. I know everyone always says that you've just got to take care of yourself before you can take care of your loved one, but sometimes that's just easier said than done.

Another Meh. give away I missed, dagnabit! Is there a way to get notified of new posts (if it's easy, please don't reply with duh!), I already stay up late to check at midnight EDT (soon to be EST) most nights, which is sad, so if I could have an automated way to connect with all of this coolness I am missing, well that would just be swell.
@DMlivezey Nope- you can subscribe to individual threads (use the button at the top for that), but no way to get notified of every new thread.
Best way to flip through a lot of posts is to use @jsh139's Meh scroller extension to automatically jump to posts you haven't seen yet in a thread.
Well, guess what I received in the mail today.
My very own FUKU bag since I have never been so lucky (damn Westies)! I think I will give it to my son since he has to bring down a bag of stuffed animals every morning when he gets up (don't ask me why, he just does).
