Want 20+ free albums from Google?
21Google Play has been giving away a bunch of free albums lately, and I thought many of you would be interested. Some of the artists:
- Billie Holiday
- Miles Davis
- Europe
- Toto
- Meatloaf
- Bill Withers
- Johnny Cash
- 311
- Simon and Garfunkel
- etc.
Instead of linking to the individual albums, you can find a list here at Slickdeals, or, poke around this canned search I set up at Google Play to find all the free ones. They may have missed some over at Slickdeals. I see a total of 23 right now that are free.
You do have to provide CC info (if you don't have an account with Google Play yet), but you won't be charged anything.
Enjoy!

I have a problem giving out billing info for something that's free. Guess I'm just weird that way
@Foxborn we keep a gift cash card for that purpose - with limited funds on it. Sometimes doesn't work but usually does.
We also have designated a "Internet-use-only" credit card. So we know if it gets hacked, that it happened on the Internet, but also so we don't get credit card-stranded in the brick and mortar world.
Many credit card vendors also now offer single use/single vendor virtual credit "card" numbers hooked to your real credit card.
And finally, Paypal sometimes works.
Thanks. Google already has my CC info, so... free shiz!
Oh. I thought we'd get to choose.
@DrunkCat Well, choose between the 23 free ones! Or take them all!
311! Awesome! Also, the twenty other ones I downloaded. Thanks!
I used your search, and I wonder whether Google charges different people different prices, because a lot of these are nowhere near free. I'll grab the ones that are, though. Thanks!
@editorkid I think he just meant that link will include, but not be limited to, all the free ones. Edit: but it didn't include the "greatest hits" ones. Like the Simon & Garfunkel https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Simon_Garfunkel_Playlist_Simon_and_Garfunkel_s_Gre?id=Bc7mkkuci5m2wglfkur4d56k5ku
@editorkid Exactly what @medz said -- that's the closest that I could get to a full list of all the free ones in one search... with lots of fluff.
@luvche21 Strangely, changing the search term to "greatest hits" not only shows the S&G, but also includes a time warp back to the 50's...
The Best Housework Hits (not free)
@curtw4 lol, she looks waaaaay too excited to be doing housework...
@luvche21 I need that music.
@sammydog01 Whatever it takes to get us to do housework, right?
@luvche21 I think she's got 50 Shades of Plans for those clothespins.
@editorkid
Figures, @mfladd shows up and it goes right from clean, to....
@jaremelz
@mfladd Good man, always remember your rubbers!
@jaremelz
Cool Thanks!
Sweet! Thanks.
@medz brought up a good point - the canned search doesn't find everything (like Simon and Garfunkel)
Definitely check out that list as well at Slickdeals as well if you want to get all of them.
Bittorrent never asks me for my card information . . . just sayin'.
@Pavlov
@medz The "steal a baby" one doesn't quite fit.. The original owner still has the music you copy.. That's like saying "you wouldn't take a picture of a baby!"
@kadagan The picture isn't an exact copy that would give you the same experience as the original owner. So maybe... You wouldn't clone a baby?
@medz why not?
@Pavlov Neither does your cellmate, pal.
Thanks!
@luvche21, thank you!
@sassymango You're welcome! There's some good collections in there!
@luvche21 there were, I dowloaded a lot!
Waylon & Willie - Thanks
@UgaDogCH I was excited to grab that one and I also picked up 8 others including Nas... not a lot of crossover there but I've got kind of eclectic music taste I guess.
What I want to know is how many people turned down the free Jessica Simpson album.
Thanks, I love free.
Wow - "The Best of Europe" shows more than one song.
I don't use Google that often (Apple user). Can I 'buy' these at work, and download later?
Apparently the answer is yes.
@remo28 Yup. You sure can. You should be able to download as MP3s and use on whatever Apple device you have. "Buy" them now and add to your library. Log into your Google account from home and download 'em.
@medz @remo28 You can download directly, but only 2 times per song.
@cengland0 I've never heard of that limit, good to know!
@luvche21 I'm not a music expert but when you click on the download option, this window appears:
@cengland0 I use that Chrome extension so that I can download lots at the same time, and it doesn't mention it when I use that extension.
Thank You.
