@crown_bug@ohhwell Googling doesn’t give me any information on this. Any pointers? (All I’m coming up with are articles about vehicle driver fatigue.) Thank you!
@carolineecou@crown_bug Electros are considered very “clinical” by many which can lead to listening fatigue. Pair that with these cheaper sets that require a good bit of power/volume to not have peaks in the response and listening to your co-workers’ voices could get a little old.
I have never used this particular set though so it’s conjecture and not everyone has the same hearing.
@carolineecou@crown_bug@ohhwell Yeah I would say a quality headset made for conferencing would be a far better choice, lighter and smaller on your head. Good ones would be a similar price, and available with USB for direct plug-in to a computer.
But then I long for the days when I didn’t have to monitor about 8 different devices each day to make sure everything was fully-charged. And since the built-in batteries inevitably die after a few years, also the constant fear that my wireless headphones, Meh powerbank, Meh bluetooth speaker, Meh personal pleasuring device, etc, is now non-functional.
@Kyeh@phonepole@Fuzzalini@ohhwell
Wow I’m surprised! I guess it’s one of those “to each his own” kind of things.
Who knew…? I would have thought everyone would’ve been on board with me on wanting a Mehrathon!!
AW HECK! YOU GUYS are just a bunch of party poopers! Regardless, do go on and ENJOY YOUR DAY!
It was hard enough to confirm Voza is a Verisonix brand (thanks for being too bothered to mention the name, Meh ). I can’t find an actual review of these, but at $99 on Amazon they probably aren’t anything like the N501 headphones (still happy with them!) that were $500 MSRP.
Maybe. But the Verisonix models Meh has been selling lately have lower specs than the first batch, so now I have to go look up the originals and compare them.
Ugh. There are no specs on these. Considering that Voza only seems to exist as the “Voza Store” on Amazon — and most of their products are unavailable — my expectations are getting lower and lower.
@TheFLP Yeah, I do remember a discussion here about that. I got some of the first batch I think, and I was quite pleased. But also I was used to what electrostatic (or semi-but-not-really in this case) are good for. Would not buy them for “Mega-Bass” (as Sony calls it) or loud action movies or video games.
On a different but related topic, I get notifications from another “deals” forum about electrostatic headphones. Where they tend to go from $400 - $4K. And then people argue about who would pay that much, but then why are they looking on that deal page to begin with?
So you can say that this is a “pretend” entry into the world where you can argue about expensive headphones, but only costs you $49 to get in the club. Of course you will be mocked by the people that paid 10x as much, and yet the people that paid 50x as much will mock both you and the 10x people.
But at least you will have a microphone on your $49 phones, and none of them will. So you can mock them and they will be silent in response.
@pmarin Sounds like Drop.com. I got a pair from there that I love the sound of, but they were definitely not four figures and I have no idea whether they’re electrostatic.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! My ears!
Pretty meh reviews. How apropos!
@ciabelle That’s for sure. One positive review seems rather fake and the other written by a buffoon living in “hi-res” land.
Cable and mike both detachable means cats or parrots can’t destroy the whole thing easily.
@werehatrack -… Or at least not all at once.
Since I don’t have very clear ears, would these help me??
Another brand of electrostatic headphones? I hated the others. Are these any better?
@Num1Zero
Given that the writeup says that the guts are the same, I think they are admitting that these are pretty much SSDD. Quelle surprise.
How would these be for zoom calls / working from home?
@crown_bug my question also
@crown_bug if you don’t mind looking pretty rediculous and aren’t prone to fatigue from electro static drivers… They should be great!
@crown_bug @ohhwell Googling doesn’t give me any information on this. Any pointers? (All I’m coming up with are articles about vehicle driver fatigue.) Thank you!

There was a time I used headphones with analog plugs. Then I moved into the digital wireless world.
@hchavers Yeah, me, too sometimes.

@hchavers Bluetooth: the K-Cups of audio.
Not again, please. Probably the same failed hybrid system in another headset from China.
@radi0j0hn my thoughts exactly when they mention “deep base” at this price point.
@ohhwell @radi0j0hn I would say “Deep base” in the description of any “quality” headphone is probably a negative indicator.
Headphones with earbuds? Isn’t that like buying a pair of pants and getting a bonus pair of shorts?
@katbyter In this case more like a pair of JNCOs and getting a speedo with them.
The ONLY thing I want to hear is “IT’S A MEHRATHON”!!
$5
Anyone else agree with me?
@Lynnerizer No.
@Lynnerizer Maybe
@Lynnerizer no
@Lynnerizer No.

@Lynnerizer Maybe a good old-fashioned Woot-Off
@Lynnerizer @MrJazz
Sadly, Woot has forgotten how to do that.
@Fuzzalini @Kyeh @Lynnerizer @ohhwell @phonepole
Better a party pooper than a panty pooper.
Yes
Phones!

@TheFLP But on the other hand, it means they probably aren’t total crap, right?

Mine came. But there were two sets of earbuds instead of an aux cable in the box.
I can’t figure out how to charge mine, with the stuff I got in the box.
