The specs in the upper bullet-point list say 10A, the ones in the boxed list say 8A total. One of those has to be wrong. Either way, that’s apparently no better than 2A per port since they say “10W”, which is not blazingly fast by any current or recent standard. No mention is made of PD or Qi compliance, so I’m guessing that this is more of a USB 2.0 vintage. As an overnight charger, that’s mostly OK. As an “Oh shit I forgot to put my phone on the charger last night and I need to leave in 20 minutes” thing, it’s made of fail.
@werehatrack tHAT’S WHEN YOU NEED ONE OF THE ENDLESS CHARGING BANKS, OR A CHARGER AT YOUR DESTINATION OR EVEN A CAR CHARGER? OR MAYBE just charge your dAMNED PHONE.
@Mandamm@werehatrack Your capslock is broken, but you’re not wrong. I use a battery pack constantly, and it’s not hard to remember to plug in.
I almost want it to charge random stuff, but I can’t think where to PUT the thing. Also, I am leery of chargers from unfamiliar companies, not all of them are made to good spec.
@werehatrack The “boxed list” is for the USB-A ports on the back, the 10W is a “total”, so clearly that Qi charger is a whole 2A (slow).
So yep, this is a “charge a whole pile of things overnight”, which if you actually do you tend not to end up “oh crap! I didn’t charge this overnight! I need to get a day’s charge while I brush my teeth and shower before work! (and obviously don’t have a charger in the car)”
@Pony Though (and I realize it literally says not compatible with 7) how could that be? You have to supply your own puck. Why would it work with 6 and 8 and not 7? Or was it released contemporary with the 7 and doesn’t work with 7+?
@Pony@stinks I suspect it would charge a 7+, but at the slow rates of previous Apple Watches? Just guessing, though. As long as the puck size didn’t change (and I’m pretty sure it did not), you could charge any Apple Watch w/this…
@Pony This thing (like many other products) has a chunk of plastic on a plastic stick. You take your already existing watch charger puck and jam it in there. It will work. It also has a USB-A socket with I think 1.9A at 5V (almost 10W), if you plug the watch puck into that it will charge but not quickly. Noting would stop you from plugging the watch charger into some other power supply while it is mounted on this thing and getting your current charge speed.
So it will work, but it will either work slow, or it will really only be “a plastic thing that holds you charge puck & you have to plug it into another power supply anyway – may as well just go to ali express and buy something that looks nicer to hold the charge puck"
@Pony@theonetruestrip@ambimb That’s my thinking too, all the way through to “go buy something cheap that looks easier to use”. The Amazon reviews were particularly, um, uneven.
@Pony That’s probably just about the fact that the included wall wart/USB supply doesn’t provide enough juice to fast charge. From the Apple page on fast charging:
You also need one of these power adapters:
Apple 18W, 20W, 29W, 30W, 35W, 61W, 87W, or 96W USB-C Power Adapter
A comparable third-party USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) of 5W or greater
So it’ll still charge, just not fast (and the fast charger has a USB-C connector so that might also be a reason for this line.
So either use a C->A adaptor plug and live with the slow charging or just connect the watch cable to a different USB source.
Is the watch tower removeable? If it is this might be a good option for my next cruise. If it doesn’t come off it becomes a packing nightmare and will almost certainly get broken when the cruise line drops a pallet of suitcases 3 stories to the dock.

YES!! I have been waiting for a way to charge my USB ports.
The only thing that’s going is your ability photoshop. AI is the new lead paint.
Meh. If this had a couple of USB-PD ports, I’d be all over it like stink on dragons.
Can I use this to charge my purchase of the item??
If not, then just FUHGEDDABOUDIT!!

@werehatrack 10 watts for the wireless charger (2a) AND 8a for the Port chargers.

@theonetruestrip @werehatrack Most people need to brush longer in any case.
I was about to pull the trigger, but then I saw it isn’t compatible with my series 7 watch. Oh well.

Even then, why not? Weird.

But that Casemates deal seems intriguing…

There are so many wires with that wireless charger.
Blasphemy. Unless you were referring to speaker docks and knives.

@bigpolar Yep, watch tower is removable
@bigpolar Yes, the tower and all the dividers are removable.
@bigpolar @troy @dred but you may have people in suits come to your door and offer you a copy of the Watchtower.

Wait - let me pre-program the fire department into all of my speed dials first.
What? Are there Mehtizens that don’t actually have sufficient USB chargers YET?
They’ve been given all sorts of chances…
None of the separators fit in the slots, they are all too wide. I guess I’ll try shaving them down.
It’s important to note that the AirPods charger will not work with usb c AirPods. The only wire that fits in the AirPods cradle is a lightning cable.
