VMP-A Winner and Loser at the same time!
10I became a VMP member on my very first order and I was hooked. I was thinking about just how much the VMP has saved me, but also how much it has cost me. Looking at the numbers overall, I would say I'm pretty happy.
Order's to date: 17
Amount Spent: $145
Amount VMP saved me in Shipping (17x$5): $85
VMP Membership Cost 2 Months @$5: $10
So to help me justify my purchases and all, I look at it like this:
$145 Spent on 17 orders of awesome stuff
-$85 saved on shipping with VMP membership
=$60
+$10 for VMP membership for 2 months
=A Grand total of $145 total spend but easily justified $70 spent for 17 orders worth of stuff!
Not to mention the items in my Fukuburoko were probably worth retail well over the justified $70 spent minus my quirky math and savings.
I would say that is a big fat double Meh thumbs up!
Meh, keep the experiments going. The VMP definitely may be a win-win, win-lose, or lose-lose on my/your part, I still don't know. But right now I feel like I'm "winning" in this experiment.

@Stallion Those are some impressive math skills. I bet you understand Common Core math as well!
@Pamtha Yup! Anything to justify my spending here on Meh!
ahh
sometimes it seems like the entire experiment revolves around the life span of vacuum cleaners.
we need subliminal "how's your vacuum holding up" messaging to build up anxiety.
anyways, sure you are winning :)
Meh - invaluable source of weird speaker docks for avid collectors.
@wishod I really like the idea of some deranged collector that's bought 1 of every speaker dock we've sold.
Because of meh, I now am 2 speaker docks and 6 mugs richer
My husband and I both have VMP memberships and it's still worth it. Especially since I'm all about that badge...'bout that badge...
@ABitterWoman no treble.
@ABitterWoman Ummm,. you don't have the badge, but thanks for trying!
@tightwad The Kickstarter badge trumps it but it's there if hovered over. What. .you think I don't have 5 bucks?
@ABitterWoman I don't....that is, I don't have $5, so I canceled mine. I felt justified as the VMP badge doesn't show with the Kickstarter badge, which is of course the "better" badge.
@tightwad Oh..okay. Because I'm rollin' in ones, man. Upwards of 3!
I have a growing pile of quirky crap that I don't quite regret ordering, but can't quite remember why I thought it was a good idea. VMP, gets you every time.
@Thumperchick I do too. I recently put all the unopened items that I bought into a large box so they are at least in the same location instead of spread all throughout the house.
@cengland0 tribbles ?
@ceagee the junk box is multiplying in size.
@cengland0 @Thumperchick - Same here. VMP has lapsed, and I"m trying to be a little more discerning. On the other hand, VMP is becoming more elite, so how can I refuse savings and status/rewards? Just waiting for something worthy so I can rejoin. Next I might join one of those exchanges if I can send and not receive excess stuff.
@ceagee I'm using my purple tribble Bluetooth speaker right this very second. Playing Fox Confessor Brings the Flood in our hotel room.
I love purple.
Oh… This made me do some serious thinking! Well if you count orders I am behind on them I only have 13 orders but… In those shipments I have collected 31 items (counting each in 2for Tuesday). I have spent a total of 518.00 in product plus 20 in VMP Grand total $538.00!
However, 2 items were for others. I was reimbursed the amount; totaling 155.00, which made the credit card company give me points for those dollars. With which, I spent the points getting another 10 items for absolutely FREE. So… I don’t know if I am making out like a bandit but I feel pretty good about all of my Super Toys! My favorites so far are the Speaker Docs used every day,(first two purchases), My Neeto Vac (totally awesome), and the Bluetooth keyboard (the coolest addition to my phone accessories)! The extra points will bring me 10 x 1L Vapur collapsible bottles! Thanks MEH for the Cool Stuff and all the Fun!!!!
You all ROCK!!
@silverqueen No you rock!
I don't buy a ton of stuff, simply because I don't have the money to spend, but I still think my VMP is well worth the $5 a month. :)
@Pony I'm with you. I also have not made a ton of purchases but it's been more that three So at the very least I have broken even. Being a VMP has done one unexpected thing. taught me allot about my will power!
I'm glad this thread is here because I just did the math and actually feel better about the many purchases I've made. Not including a couple purchases made with my husband's account, I've spent $162 (orders only, not including vmp) on 13 orders which included 37 items. I thought I'd spent a lot more than this here.
I love purple.
I just like spending money on shit I don't really need
I just canceled the renewal of my VMP...my wife may or may not object to the number of packages of "stuff" arriving. The Meh shirts, the batteries, backup battery/chargers and the headlamps are about the only things that get used. The BT Keyboard hasn't been connected, the waterbottles gather dust. Hopefully tomorrow brings something worth renewing VMP for...(you aren't reading are you honey???)
