@the_inevitable It is. After my last cheapo drone flew away never to be seen again, I picked this up last month. It flies much better than I expected and is loads of fun. And if I crash it into a tree, no big loss.
@goffstock@PhysAssist@the_inevitable “Headless” is a way of making the controls and directions stick to what they were at take-off. You don’t necessarily have to see which direction the drone is facing/heading, since it’s relative to you.
The link above has a deeper explanation that goes into more detail about this, as well as the various terms for this mode as DJI or Yuneec rename them.
@goffstock@the_inevitable Your last drone was a homing drone that followed its instinct to join long lost Chinese relatives floating in the Pacific plastic island.
@PhysAssist@username It means the drone will fly in the direction you push the control stick, regardless of which direction the front of the drone is facing. (Without Headless Mode engaged, if the drone were facing you, control inputs would be reversed, for example.)
Looks like a cheap version of the DJI Mavic. If it’s a decent drone, that’s promising. It definitely looks cool. But I wonder how reliable or capable it really is…
@rjquillin You mean the app that you can download for free? I mean…would be weird to put that on a USB drive for you to get it since it’s on the app store. Not included in this case is just referring to the “smart device” mentioned. It’s just a bring your own phone type of deal.
So every time I see a reasonably priced quadcopter I consider getting one for practical reasons but don’t.
My use case is inspecting my roof and gutters and possibly effing with any hornets nest the appear under my soffit
With some occasional usage for fun and shenanigans in an open field while camping.
This was sold previously so current owners and others with insight, would this meet my needs?
@RedOx I already have one of these from meh and I use it for exactly what your describing (plus chasing my son and friends through the local park–he loves it). Battery has a micro-usb charge port on it.
@Stumpy91 It’s 720p, so a bit potato quality. Better than I’d expected for the price though and less fragmenting than the other cheapo drones I’ve bought.
@goffstock@Stumpy91 Not terrible. Image quality is decent. Frame rate is … choppy, like 5-10 fps indoors right next to the drone.
There’s something odd going on with the aspect ratio/zoom/fisheye or something, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Does anyone know a source (or type/part number) for additional batteries? I’m trying to determine if it would just be better/cheaper just to buy two kits. Thanks.
I’ve bought so many of these cheap DJI Mavic knock-offs, that I can tell the crappy apps apart from the screenshots. Spoiler - the software is trash, and most likely doesn’t work. Also the drone will probably be unstable, and will fall down if a cat farts in its general direction. Hard pass!
If you want a cheap starter toy drone, go for a $100 DJI Tello instead.
On the fence on this one. No RTH, Return to Home feature like my other ones… Which helps if it gets away from you. But at this price…May use it or gift it…
@gfreek@Stumpy91 Mine is still in the box so not sure. Have you tried the One-Button landing button? I was just going off of what I read on the Amazon page for it.
@gfreek@TrolleyCart the one-button landing works but just slowly drops straight down. No RTH. I also with there was an emergency stop button. There isn’t on the controller. Possibly in the app.
@Softteddy I bought one in December. It’s not bad–more stable and responsive than the other cheapo drones I’ve had and I’d say it’s the first cheap drone I’ve bought that was actually fun to fly.
It’s decent enough that I just bought another today for the spare batteries and for when I inevitably slam it into a tree while using it to chase my son through the forest in our local park.
Was actually going to try this one out!! Can’t believe it sold out so fast!!
They’re starting to model the cheap ones after the Mavic series, lol. I have a few DJI Mavics, but was going to buy this one as a gift (or maybe resell) to a family member who has expressed interest. Can’t believe it sold so fast.
BE REALLY CAREFUL WITH THESE DRONES.
My Mavic Pro even has a hard time with wind sometimes, and this drone is much, much lower in quality. (remember. No GPS, none of the advanced safety features. Only a few minimal ones)
Don’t fly too far with it, keep it within eye site! YOU WILL CRASH THIS 100%, EVERYONE DOES. I’ve crashed every drone I’ve ever owned. Thankfully they’ve been pretty controlled, haha.
If you are interested DJI (Sadly the ONLY company out there right now that has quality drones) has a few products out there that are (somewhat) affordable and I’m kinda’ annoyed, because some of the features mimic my $700+ drones!
If anyone is interested in more info let me know, I’ve been flying since 2014
Seriously surprised at the price on this one, even the Amazon at $75 or so after tax wasn’t a bad deal for beginners.
JUST REMEMBER THEY HAVE NO GPS.
( It’s easy for everyone to fly the drone: On altitude hold mode, you can accurately lock the height and location, stable hover and capture video or photos from any angle shooting, making the experience very easy and convenient, even a novice, can play this drone easily. The drone automatically takes off and lands with one click, which is very handy. There is an emergency landing feature to prevent collision with other things.
3D flip & one key return & Headless mode & Trimming: The E58 Drone includes the new 3D rolling special effects and can be quite the surprise! One-key return function allows the drone to return automatically without losing the drone. The Headless mode option can make the drone’s front side the same as the remote control, making it easier to fly to your destination. With the Trimming function,you can adjust according to the tilt direction thus, making the drone stabilize during flight. )
You’re really wanna’ only keep this drone at 30-60ft (if that) and walk along with it as you go, don’t trust the return to home feature but it’s neat it has it, and the safety features built in are good enough for a beginner.
I’d say 100000% buy this from Meh, but it sold out, I say 30% buy it on Amazon, and lastly if you’re actually interested saved up and get a DJI Mini, or Mini 2.
@Sgt_Bilbo I struggled getting it working too. Got the wifi connected but no video until I turned wifi off, turned on drone, and then turned wifi back on. And I started getting video streamed to my phone (Android). I still have mobile data active.
@username I ran into the same problem; then, started trying combinations against the directions in the manual. I’m able to have both talk to the drone by connecting the controller first; then, connect the wifi and open the app. Edit: it takes around 15 seconds for the app to pickup the video feed after hitting play.
Mine just arrived. There is only one battery, the other two that it said were included are missing. Since the package only mentions one battery, I think this is an issue for the folks at Meh.
@thompp Response I received is they made a mistake and there is only one battery. They said they have refunded me a part of the amount. Hmmm. So far haven’t had any luck getting the battery cover off of the remote to see if it even works, and app isn’t working either even though I can connect to wifi on drone. So far this is less than meh.
So to get video feed from the drone I had to connect to wood and then disable my cell connection so the phone didn’t jump to my cell plan for internet. Then the app worked
I also only received one battery. As far as the drone, it flies great, very snappy and responsive so far (in the house at least). Tuned it a bunch but can’t get it to hover in place very well. I imagine it’d be even harder to do so outdoors in the wind.
Make sure you hit the “calibration” button (top right button on the controller) before you take off for the first time or you’ll surely crash it immediately. And be aware, on minor crashes the drone legs seem to pop out of place because they are designed to fold up. If it starts flying crooked that’s why.
Overall good deal for the price, hopefully meh will come through with extra batteries?
@betaRepeating@Stumpy91 I have not yet received the credit but they have credited me before so I have no reason to believe I will NOT receive this one. Although, purchasing additional batteries was more expensive than anticipated. it may take them a few days to respond. Everything is damn COVID now. Excuse for everything.
@tedesj I’m not sure. I messaged customer service yesterday and never heard back. Customer service hasn’t posted on this thread either. Maybe they’re trying to figure out what to do since it appears these were drop-shipped from somewhere given that they shipped FedEx. I guess give them some time to respond but it seems a few people have already got a partial refund.
I contacted customer support, and they replied that the listing was in error, and they are refunding half the cost to cover the 2 extra batteries that are not included.
Yep, what a pisser! No batteries! The 3X battery was the impetus to buy. Otherwise you spend half the day charging for maybe 5 minuets of joy and anguish! Say it ain’t so Meh!
As an update - Do contact Meh, they will refund some of the price. Makes it a great little drone for fun and first time fliers. Extra batteries are easy to find on ebay, etc.
I was able to control the drone with the app. I didn’t even turn on the controller. Just connected wifi from phone to drone, opened the app, pressed Play and waited for the video to show up. The last time I had to turn off my mobile data but that isn’t always the case. There are a lot of cool features with the app to explore before destroying or losing the drone.
I found the missing batteries! My drone came with an extra box with like 100 batteries in it. Wow!
Just kidding. Like everyone else I only got one battery instead of 3. I also checked the drone box, and indeed it only listed one battery being inside. Bummer…
I contacted meh about the batteries and they took care of it.
Drone flies well! Granted, I’ve only done inside flights. Hope to get it outside once the wind dies down.
I was able to get the iOS app connected and video working. Turn on the remote, turn on the drone; connect the remote to the drone (push the stick up, the down, listen for beep). Connect the app to the drone’s wifi and you should be all set.
I managed to get a great video of me backing the drone right into some decorative stick thing my wife has in the living room.
My first drone and I crashed it a few times in the house and now I can’t get it to take off. The front just raises up a few inches. All rotors are spinning. I’ve done the calibration with no luck. Battery is recharged. Anybody have any ideas?
@sstoppelman make sure the “wings” are pivoted and extended all the way. My drones tend to pick up Sheltie dog fur under the propellers which really messes with uniform speed of the props.
Well, it lasted almost 4 flights. No crashes or anything. But now it won’t turn on anymore. If I hold the button down it will blink the light, but the minute I let go it turns back off. Tried ordering a new battery, that didn’t fix it. So I guess it’s trash now. Really disappointed.
I can get my camera to connect to the quadcopter’s wifi, but for whatever reason, the app you download says it’s not connected – anyone else have this problem?
Yes i have that problem. Can someone send me the QR Code or the name of the app or a link to it. Maybe i have the wrong app. When i first purchased jt i didnt have any problem at all but now its not working ive troed everything.

Oh good, the same no-name drone that was literally being sold like five hours ago.
@harveydanger You know you want it.
@harveydanger
Literally 40 minutes before and it was the same price.
I bought one.
And I’m already meh about it.
@harveydanger @robthedude05 But 3 batteries, so 3x the mediocrity!
Is it… Good for… N00bs? Seriously. I would like this to be a good deal. This seems cool, but I’m hella weary.
@the_inevitable and wary?
@mehvid1 I’m so tired, I want to die.
@the_inevitable It is. After my last cheapo drone flew away never to be seen again, I picked this up last month. It flies much better than I expected and is loads of fun. And if I crash it into a tree, no big loss.
I just picked up a second in case that happens.
@goffstock @the_inevitable
As an experienced droner, WTF does “headless” mean?
@goffstock @PhysAssist @the_inevitable
https://comedronewithme.com/what-is-headless-mode/
@PhysAssist headless usually means no need for screen/monitor
@goffstock @PhysAssist @the_inevitable “Headless” is a way of making the controls and directions stick to what they were at take-off. You don’t necessarily have to see which direction the drone is facing/heading, since it’s relative to you.
The link above has a deeper explanation that goes into more detail about this, as well as the various terms for this mode as DJI or Yuneec rename them.
@goffstock @the_inevitable
But, are you a drone?
@mehvid1 @the_inevitable This discussion is making me Larry of the whole thing.
@goffstock @the_inevitable Your last drone was a homing drone that followed its instinct to join long lost Chinese relatives floating in the Pacific plastic island.
@robthedude05 @the_inevitable How did you know?
@goffstock @PhysAssist @the_inevitable it mean don’t expect any blow jobs with this drone
@arosiriak
Thank you!
@PhysAssist @username It means the drone will fly in the direction you push the control stick, regardless of which direction the front of the drone is facing. (Without Headless Mode engaged, if the drone were facing you, control inputs would be reversed, for example.)
Looks like a cheap version of the DJI Mavic. If it’s a decent drone, that’s promising. It definitely looks cool. But I wonder how reliable or capable it really is…
@Bandrik Amazon reviews show it’s pretty decent at $70. So for under $40 I’ll take a shot and add it to my collection.
@Bandrik yes, looks the same
What’s the deal with the not-included extra stuff needed for video?
@rjquillin You mean the app that you can download for free? I mean…would be weird to put that on a USB drive for you to get it since it’s on the app store. Not included in this case is just referring to the “smart device” mentioned. It’s just a bring your own phone type of deal.
When there are absolutely no specs on the video resolution or fps, you absolutely know it’s going to be garbage.
@ciabelle 480p was fine for your grandfather, and it’s just fine for you!!!
@ciabelle I believe it’s 720 x60 FPS
@ciabelle @PocketBrain 480i. Grandpa watched 480i.
My my, this looks oddly familiar…
So every time I see a reasonably priced quadcopter I consider getting one for practical reasons but don’t.
My use case is inspecting my roof and gutters and possibly effing with any hornets nest the appear under my soffit
With some occasional usage for fun and shenanigans in an open field while camping.
This was sold previously so current owners and others with insight, would this meet my needs?
And how do you charge the extra batteries?
@RedOx I already have one of these from meh and I use it for exactly what your describing (plus chasing my son and friends through the local park–he loves it). Battery has a micro-usb charge port on it.
@RedOx
This was one of the key elements of my position paper as presented to my wife as justification for the purchase of a DJI Mavic Mini Fly More package.
“What if there were a way to minimize unnecessary trips up a ladder to clean already clear gutters and the risk that goes with it?”
@RedOx Bear in mind, the camera only points in an arc that includes “forwards and slightly down” through “down”. It can’t aim upwards.
Per amazon, fly time 7-9 min per battery, 3 batteries, 720p / 2MP camera.
Headless mode is where it orients on its launch point, so left and right and back and forward are from the pilot’s perspective and not the drone’s.
The extra batteries sold me. This is my third purchase of this model and the first still flies just fine.

@Stumpy91 It’s 720p, so a bit potato quality. Better than I’d expected for the price though and less fragmenting than the other cheapo drones I’ve bought.

Glue the blade guards on with something like rubber cement (shoo goo), or you’ll lose them quickly when they get knocked off in a crash
@xterraguy how about the 2 feet? They fall off easy and look pretty fragile.
@Stumpy91 haven’t had mine come off yet
The controls in the app don’t work BTW, it can only relay the video.

@gfreek According to Amazon web page "It also has a built-in One Key Return Home feature that will allow the drone to fly back to the transmitter. "
@gfreek @TrolleyCart I don’t see a RTH button on the remote or the Android phone app.

Yup. Extra batteries are missing, and I can’t get the camera to function at all on mine.
@Sgt_Bilbo Tip: turn off mobile data.
@Sgt_Bilbo I struggled getting it working too. Got the wifi connected but no video until I turned wifi off, turned on drone, and then turned wifi back on. And I started getting video streamed to my phone (Android). I still have mobile data active.
I can’t get it to connect to my phone. Any tips besides what the crappy manual says?
@wratz so far for me it worked when controller is off, cycle power on drone, then try to find drone wifi in wifi list
@wratz Turn off mobile data and connect to the drone’s wifi.
it’s also either controller or phone to control, but not both at the same time, right?
so you can’t use controller for flight and phone for vidya at the same time it appears
Just opened mine to find only one battery… sent a note to the Meh Master, may send it back if just a solo battery. We’ll see what the response is.
Same issue, only 1 battery. 3 batteries was a major selling point. We’ll see what Meh says.
I agree, the 3x Batteries that were supposed to be in the box was a major selling point as that would be more flying time.
I can get my phone to connect to drone but no picture.
@guavablueses Try turning off mobile data, worked for me.
@guavablueses switch wifi off and back on. Then connect to drone wifi. I never had to turn off mobile data.
@Stumpy91 Got it to work, thanks.
Mine is missing the other batteries as well. Will Meh be doing a blanket partial refund or do we all have to complain individually?
@strikes2k complain for $20 back
@Lazarpandar @strikes2k I contacted meh days ago and never heard back.
No extra batteries here either.
Contact customer service, they are aware and will issue a partial refund if you keep it or full if you want to return it.
@Czechbikr I contacted them days ago and just crickets.
Mine only came with one battery as well. Where do I contact customer service at?
1 battery. 150 min charge time / 7 min fly time. Meh,meh,meh,meh,meh,meh,meh. Keeping it though.
For those looking, these appear to be the same batteries - https://www.amazon.com/sea-jump-Lithium-Battery-Quadcopter/dp/B07FMPFL6B/

Only one battery
@Kenmbz Same.
So to get video feed from the drone I had to connect to wood and then disable my cell connection so the phone didn’t jump to my cell plan for internet. Then the app worked

@betaRepeating Meh has offered me a half refund, i’ll be using it to buy the spare batteries I was promised!
@betaRepeating how long did it take you to hear back from them?
No extra batteries here.
Yep, you guessed it. Only one battery.
@Stumpy91 Contacted customer service. Bueller, Bueller?
@Stumpy91 same for me!
Just bought one pretty small drone
Arrived with only one battery. I’d bought this same drone previously and only made this purchase for the spare batteries, so this is useless for me.
Also a single battery installed in the drone for me, no other.
The remote connected, it flew. I scanned the QR code for the app, loaded it, and it did connect! So it does work!
I look forward to trying it outside.
3 batteries included…meh…it only came with one.
@eileencobb message them for a partial refund, use it to order the extra batteries from one of the above links
@betaRepeating @eileencobb have you heard from them and got a refund? I contacted them yesterday and haven’t heard back?
@betaRepeating @Stumpy91 I have not yet received the credit but they have credited me before so I have no reason to believe I will NOT receive this one. One battery, darn.
They’re going to make good on the batteries, right?
@ltruelove I’m not sure what they are going to do. They’ve been quiet on the subject.
Mine arrived with only one battery. What is being done about this?
@tedesj I’m not sure. I messaged customer service yesterday and never heard back. Customer service hasn’t posted on this thread either. Maybe they’re trying to figure out what to do since it appears these were drop-shipped from somewhere given that they shipped FedEx. @Stumpy91 I emailed and was offered a return or a 50% refund. They responded within 2 hours
What a betrayal… one battery here as well.
I also only received one battery. My kid is going to be so disappointed when we get 5 minutes of fun.
Has anyone tried a larger milliamperes battery?
Yea i only got one battery. 3x batteries was a major selling point for me so I’m a little pissed about the false advertising here.
I contacted customer support, and they replied that the listing was in error, and they are refunding half the cost to cover the 2 extra batteries that are not included.
@starrigger when did you contact them and how long did it take to get back to you?
@starrigger @Stumpy91 They contacted me first thing the next day and refunded half for me as well.
@strikes2k @Stumpy91 Same here. Very quick and courteous.
@starrigger @strikes2k yeah, I missed the prompt email from them. Damn focused inbox. I thought the hadn’t responded.
Very unhappy with one battery. Only reason I purchased. Bought this to learn, now it’s gonna take 3x longer.
@Stumpy91 ok that’s cool. I’ll have to try that out!
Am I missing something with the blade guards? Put them on, but they’re too short! The blades hit them when they spin!
My drones tend to pick up Sheltie dog fur under the propellers which really messes with uniform speed of the props.
this is such a junk don’t waste your $ tiny little drone worth pennies
/giphy size doesn’t matter
Hey y’all. If you haven’t reached out to meh.com/support about the batteries, go ahead and do that. We’re happy to help get these sorted out.
It died on its maiden flight. One propeller arm completely burnt up. I was hoping for much more.
@eileencobb If you haven’t done so already, contact Support. It might just be past the 90 days warranty, though.

Can someone tell me what the app is called? I don’t have the link
Which app controls the camera
I can get my camera to connect to the quadcopter’s wifi, but for whatever reason, the app you download says it’s not connected – anyone else have this problem?
