View Master Virtual Realty Viewer
1This seems like a logical progression to me. I bought one of the cardboard kits and felt like I was using a View Master anyway. I really liked messing around with the cardboard app but the kit wasn't very sturdy and the lever to switch screens didn't work at all (it was on clearance at book store so I didn't expect too much).

Lol at the third party Amazon price, $108! Plus, they say you need the physical reels to unlock the AR content but I'm pretty sure just printing out a picture of the reel will do.
If I stumble across one of these for cheap (sub-$20) I'd pick one up to play with it. Never did build the cardboard one.
@stardate820926 - Really interesting, but I don't quite understand. It uses your phone to see more advanced view-master style pictures?
@KDemo It's a generic VR rig for Google Cardboard apps, with some View-Master specific content.
@stardate820926 I bought one of the $3 Cardboard kits from China that had minor improvements over the original printable design. The slide switch worked with my Moto X but I had to glue the inner magnet in place. I imagine it is not terribly reliable with all phones since they have a variety of different magnetic sensors.
Came to the forums before the front page this evening. Definitely thought Meh was selling Viewmasters. Letdown!
@brhfl Hahaha I wish they would :)
I got one of these last night. Target has them, but seems to be keeping them in the stock room in most locations. Load up the Viewmaster page on your phone (either using Target's app or site, but the app buys you a little more cred) and go to the Electronics counter and tell them you can't find it. They'll type the Target product number into their tricorders and tell you it's in the back and hopefully will offer to get one for you.
I really like it, but there are a lot of problems that I don't think are caused by it, too. If any Google Cardboard gurus are around to field a few questions, I've got a few...
Virtual realty viewer? Sweet!
