We’ve got some white incandescent lights around the eaves, but we’ve also got some WLED strips around the windows. They aren’t properly set to music or anything but they do animate through several patterns.
I can’t compete.
My neighbors had holiday lighting contractors come in and do lights all along their eaves which are high up, and also some glowing candle things along both sides of their driveway. The driveway is straight and long enough that I can imagine it will make perfect runway lights for Santa.
When I traveled in a camper over the holidays I had a little LED lit tree. Also sometimes put a wreath with lights on grill of truck but it used AA batts and was a pain. I was going to re-work for 12V but never did.
I do like when you drive on highways and see big trucks with decor like that though. It’s like We are all out here together; it’s a strange sense of community.
Mostly not doing those Winter road trips anymore though. Get to one place and stay for a while. Each year not sure where that will be.
@pmarin
Was up in Nashville for Thanksgiving and saw a couple of cars decked out with this rig as we were driving around town. Got to admit they looked pretty cool when they were driving. Not sure if I would find it too distracting having a crap-ton of lights on the hood in front of me though…
Image is from the AliExpress site. Didn’t get my phone out to take pics since I was the one driving.
@chienfou@pmarin
That’s pretty cool! The most I’ve ever seen a vehicle decorated was a Herbie with eyelashes! Lol Gotta admit they’re cute as heck and I wish we had them when I was a kid and my parents had their pale yellow rag top!
I have permanent lights on my house to I can “decorate” for any holiday. But for Christmas I put lights on my tree trunks and lights along my driveway/sidewalks. All are smart lights so I change them every few days and the lights are color coordinated.
I chose “inflatable chaos” despite having zero inflatables because it sounded closer to “hundreds of singly-addressable strung LEDs that I can program to do almost whatever I like.”
Evidently the Griswolds have moved out to rural Alabama. Passed this house on our way home from Nashville on Thanksgiving weekend. You could actually see what looked like contrails in the sky a couple of miles before you got to the house!
Cars were driving past and turning around to come back. There seemed to be a soundtrack going on and both the screens had movies playing. So many lights!
If I were to decorate I would prefer the old tiny look, and not country look or any of those kind of things I’m thinking back with a crackling fire and Santa if he exists dressed in green not to Coca-Cola red, greenery, Pine cones,
We had a perfect moment many years ago with Christmas lights! We were coming home from work on Christmas eve. Just got off the subway. If was snowing lightly. Flakes just floating down. The houses were all lit with Christmas lights. One house was playing Christmas music! The music, lights and snow were just perfect!!!
I love the old Christmas decorations from when I was a kid. Most new stuff just doesn’t have the same vibes.
@yakkoTDI “They” make led lights now that mimic the old timey large outside lights. But they don’t look quite right.
@therealjrn @yakkoTDI ![enter image description here][1]

This is an oldie!

@sillyheathen @yakkoTDI D’AWWW that’s priceless!

@therealjrn It is not really the lights but the decorations themselves. Mainly the indoor ones.
@sillyheathen That’s great.
I think you all probably know.
@PooltoyWolf I don’t.
@kittykat9180 @PooltoyWolf Well, kittykat, let’s just say PTW has at least one inflatable wolf that’s as big as a train engine…I know, I’ve seen it!
@kittykat9180 @PooltoyWolf @therealjrn I would love to come and help decorate with y’all!
@kittykat9180 @therealjrn Yeah, you’ve got the idea!
60 inflatable snowmen and a nativity set
@kjady Wow! I hope you post a picture here sometime!
A bit of everything I suppose.
@sillyheathen
@sillyheathen may Santa Croc bring you everything you wish.
@sillyheathen
We call that polish decorating lol (we’re polish) but that’s how we do it too. The bigger the better. My boyfriend hates it.
@Star2236 oh I elf the crap out of our house.
It’s a mix of refined with madness.
“Other”.
@Pony that does mean? Or you are to ashame to admit!
@mycya4me It means I do a mix of this, that and the other thing.
@mycya4me @Pony I would love to pop over with some baked goods so we could chat, drink coffee and enjoy the festivus.
@mycya4me @sillyheathen That would rock.
Whatever my wife wants this year.
I learned one bad season makes for an even worse year.

So many lights!
@chienfou
Omg, I love it!
@Star2236
It WAS spectacular!
I live in a fairly small apartment with no room to store holiday decor, so we just make some paper snowflakes and call it good.
If I were to decorate I would prefer the old tiny look, and not country look or any of those kind of things I’m thinking back with a crackling fire and Santa if he exists dressed in green not to Coca-Cola red, greenery, Pine cones,
My street is named after Saint Nic, yet my neighbors decorate more for Halloween.
@kittykat9180
Saint Nic…Cage?
@jouest that would be even cooler

My family has seizure lights.
