@ircon96@richseibert
It’s very tasty. First ran across it when we were visiting my son in Boston. Going to Pittsburgh (his current residence) this week and we’ll probably bring a couple of blocks home. I can’t find it locally.
@llangley@yakkoTDI The best Cabot cheddar IMO, if a bit hard to find, is Orne Meadows, from their founders collection. Nutty, sharp, sweet, and delicious — similar to Sartori Montamoré. Somewhat easier to find, and nearly as good, are the Cabot Clothbound cheddar and their Alpine cheddar. (My dad prefers them to Orne Meadows, in fact, so YMMV.)
@agnesnutter@yakkoTDI I’ll have to look for that! Sartori Montamoré is my absolute FAVORITE. My little Publix store carries the original but I found smoked Montamoré at ABC Liquors
@chienfou@llangley It used to be the case that the creamery in Cabot had a visitor’s center with tours and a never-ending table of samples of all their cheeses… I’m very sad that’s gone away
@agnesnutter@llangley
Another (collateral damage) victim of CoViD-19 I imagine.
When we were in Oregon a few years back we toured the Tillamook factory. They did the same thing and they also sold packages of scraps/block ends for a pittance. That was wonderful.
(Wow. Just looked it up and it was actually in Dec 2018… damn time flies!
bursts through the door Did someone say Vermont??
Oops, I thought I was on time, but apparently I am 9 years late.
Regardless, several of these were fun and I didn’t know them, so thank you!
Deal coming up on Cabot Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese?
@richseibert Yummy… although, i sense another food-borne illness outbreak coming… #candycornpocalypse
@ircon96 @richseibert
Is really good also…
@chienfou @richseibert Mmmm…i love extra sharp cheddar with Ray’s Secret Sauce, which has horseradish in it, so that’s right up my alley!

Vermont (to me) = Cabot Cheese (garlic cheddar, yum!) and The Dog Chapel (bucket list item, as was Rainbow Bridge at Lake Lure, NC )
Oh, and now “Season of the Sticks”
@llangley Stick season! (Also we have mid season!)
@llangley I am still a little mad they stopped making the Chipotle Cheddar.
@Wolfidy Heh, that’s a fairly apt typo
@llangley I’ve been through many a stick season, but I’m unfamiliar with “season of the sticks”—are you referencing something?

@agnesnutter @Wolfidy lol, I guess it’s in the lyrics but not the title of the Noah Kahan song. Oops

@llangley Ah, okay, TIL there’s a song about it
@agnesnutter @llangley
Cabot horseradish cheddar is also tasty (see above)

@agnesnutter @llangley @Wolfidy Love that song; Noah Kahan is great!
Well that was random video for meh.
I went to sleep away camp in Vermont when I was a kid. Loved it.
