This is one of those things that, 2 years ago, the Meh copywriter would have convinced us what a terrible piece of shit this was, and a couple of us would have bought one anyway, just for the office holiday party gift swap. Now, they actually try to sell us on it.
// There’s also a USB cable, a sun visor, and a cigarette adapter for your devices. //
Wait a second! It comes with a sun visor?! Now it sounds like the car my sister in law won on The Price Is Right. Totally stripped. No interior carpet. Glove box was a hole with no door. And, yes, sun visor on driver’s side only.
My car has more cupholders than seats, which I always found rather humorous. Though, two of the three are kind of useless since they get in the way of shifting, and the third is easily knocked around by a potential passenger (it’s kind of in that footwell).
@Yoda_Daenerys I eat breakfast and listen to podcasts at 3X normal speed with BT earbuds while driving, but I drive through the city, so nothing over 20mph. Great ways to save time and enjoy the ride!
As bad as driving and texting are today, it’s nothing compared to D.C. rush hour traffic in the 70s. I remember more than one guy eating a bowl of cereal while also reading the newspaper. Putting on makeup was very common. And parents turned all the way around lecturing kids in the back for a good 30 seconds.
@calbear That’s been one of my favorite cars since the 90’s. Someone drives one to work in my building at least a few times a week. Red and looks brand new still, at least from 20’ away.
@djslack I agree about the NSX being one of my favorite cars. I have had two simultaneously (first was bought in 1997 and sold less than two years ago), and even with the other cars I have, I look forward to driving the NSX every time. This will be great for somewhat updating the car.
@danpritts Thanks Dan. I will take that as a compliment. I updated the car to the 2002+ Type R look. Here is a recent pic. Looking forward to using this in the car, especially with the new law in effect next year about not being able to touch your phone at all while driving.
@calbear i would totally buy one off you lol meant to but hubby went into for heart surgery and didnt get a chance to get back to meh before they sold out
I have yet to meet a bluetooth microphone - headset or visor clip - that actually works as described. Not one. I’ve tried cheap and expensive, boom mics and earbuds. Never have I ever had a call on any of them that did not involve me resisting the urge to toss the damn bluetooth device out the window.
I like my phone, but the headphone jack is trashed. I wonder if I could get the one of these with headphone jack and plug my favorite headphone into it? Put the “car kit” on my belt…
@kaighintze you could use one of the Bēm not-mini speakers for that… pair your phone to it via bluetooth and then plug your headphones into the aux out.
No clip, but if your put it in your pocket you would have a conversation starter…
neanderthal-neutral-heart
Cool I can use this with Smart Lock to keep my phone unlocked when I’m driving my old Jeep. My old Motorola one is dying. Got the secret $1 off too!
This is something i want but the $5 shipping kills me since I’d only want one and current budget constraints (and 2 years of checking in on here) usually mean i probably won’t buy another thing for VMP to matter
Man, I hate bluetooth. I never make calls on the go anyway, so for me the only use is to play music from mine (or a friend’s) phone. It used to be you had an Aux. In port that took any 3.5mm cable and plugged into the matching 3.5mm jack on your phone, you hit play on the phone, and that was it. Now it’s a bunch of connection verification gobbledy-gook and ‘You cannot connect a device while the vehicle is in motion’. What a waste of good technology.
I was hoping to add an odd picture of Neil Gaiman’s Morpheus but I like this better.
So I was looking for one of these anyway and at this price it’s worth just giving it a go since I am always using my bluetooth headset. I’ll be curious to see what the sound quality is like. Especially with that battery life.
How is this different to the Ayrton Senna version on Amazon?
Is it just a missing logo, or is it different. Does the Ayrton Senna version make you drive faster? Can you use that as an excuse to get out of tickets?
I’ve got one of those fancy Ford’s with the Sync built in. The three phone calls I’ve made in my car so far this year have been pretty dang good through the factory system, so I think I’m okay passing this up. I’ll see how I feel about it in the morning, just to be safe.
Both my vehicles are 2006 Fords so this will bring them both a decade forward. Both vehicles are in good condition so I plan on driving them as long as possible.
Also why not?
@Baber08 well this is a daily deal site and the deal changes daily, but good news… they usually repeat deals, weekly and monthly sometimes, so hang in there… it might come back up… maybe… if they have anymore… and knowing them they do… they usually do…
I ordered the 3.0 hoping that it would be the Ayrton Senna Signature edition as shown on Amazon. It came yesterday and it totally was! Even came with a little Senna signature pin. I’m stoked and now I don’t have to worry about sending those freaking little bluetooth ear pieces through the wash anymore. Hooray!
Well, that was a total bust. I got the Bluetooth 3 version. Half the time holding the button does nothing, and it disconnected in the middle of a call (sending it back to the phone) one of the times it started out working.
After going through a zillion blue tooth headsets, this fit for me. It picks up my voice easily, unlike the speakerphone on my my phone. I always ride alone and I have one for each car. Happy.
Quite decent characteristics, even it’s a pity that I have not heard about it before. Nowadays the market was asked by such manufacturers as iSPAM, ParrotSPAM and others. Although the Spammers for Dummies kit has a lot of different manufacturers, it’s still difficult to choose because some are confident in the tops, but such little-known brands are unfortunately lost.

SAEM as it ever was…
Water dissolving, and water removing …
This would have been cool if I hadn’t just replaced my stereo…
What the hell is this shit?
@j8erg
This is one of those things that, 2 years ago, the Meh copywriter would have convinced us what a terrible piece of shit this was, and a couple of us would have bought one anyway, just for the office holiday party gift swap. Now, they actually try to sell us on it.
i love when everyone in the car hears my conversations
@ihaveyoursox
I talk to myself out loud all the time just so folks ignore me when I’m actually on a speaker.
@MehnofLaMehncha clever
@ihaveyoursox @MehnofLaMehncha My dog ignores me anyway. In the car and out of it.
Worthy?
@Stallion I hope so since I bought one. My current one isn’t lasting as long as it used to.
@Stallion
James?
@MehnofLaMehncha Nope
I have no idea what this does.
I guess for traveling back in time to when cars didn’t have blueteeth?
Does it somehow relay between the carborator and the flux capacitor?
@MehnofLaMehncha
You can connect your phone to it, and it serves as a Bluetooth speaker+.
(Of course, there are alternative solutions which are cheaper, but whatever…)
There’s also a USB cable, a sun visor, and a cigarette adapter for your devices.
Doesn’t everyone’s phone already have a speaker? And the car has a cup holder? Put the phone in the cup holder, speaker pointing up. Same thing, ja?
@MehnofLaMehncha No cupholder in either of my cars. And they’re both manual, so no holding onto the phone while driving either.
I’m starting to think we should all be enjoying the ride and forgetting about the phones in the first place
Actually, enjoying the ride is the first place, so forgetting the phone is the second
@PlacidPenguin
// There’s also a USB cable, a sun visor, and a cigarette adapter for your devices. //

@narfcake You need two hands to shift?
@schni You expect me to steer with my feet?
@schni & three feet!
My car has more cupholders than seats, which I always found rather humorous. Though, two of the three are kind of useless since they get in the way of shifting, and the third is easily knocked around by a potential passenger (it’s kind of in that footwell).
/giphy hopeless-sudden-acoustic
can someone explain exactly what this does?
Is it just a speaker?
@elpepe Speaker phone, hands free.
@Stallion
Except for the hand you need to hit the button
I jumped on this since it claims to let you sleep for two years!

Will my mother be able to use this thing?
@christinerenee what age is your mother, and what’s the most technical word you have ever heard her utter
/giphy udder milking
@Yoda_Daenerys graphic, nsfw. might wanna edit that
@harveydanger Agreed. For anyone wondering, it was cows that were bloodied but still hooked up to milking machines for some reason.
@Yoda_Daenerys She’s 62 and I’m still trying to think of a technical word I’ve ever heard her utter…
@harveydanger hmmm, that’s not the giphy i saw the last time i saw my post
/youtube i’ve been framed cheech and chong
@christinerenee in that case, i wouldn’t suggest this device for your mother
i admit it, i play pokemon go while driving
@Yoda_Daenerys
I knit while driving.
@MehnofLaMehncha thanks for that
Meh.be we will run into each other one day
@Yoda_Daenerys
Do you know who I ran into on my way to the optometrist?
Everyone.
@Yoda_Daenerys I eat breakfast and listen to podcasts at 3X normal speed with BT earbuds while driving, but I drive through the city, so nothing over 20mph. Great ways to save time and enjoy the ride!
@Jonas4321 I saw someone eating a bowl of cereal while driving earlier this week.
@zachdecker

these are absolutely useless for margaritas
@alacrity not true, hook one of these up to your 64 oz. margarita and you will be the live of the party
@Yoda_Daenerys ah! Yes- perfect for when you’re too drunk to hold your cell phone.
Or as a coaster.
@alacrity What about calling in your order while you wait in line at Drive Thru Daquiris?
Yo,
I am never going to buy morningsave.com again.
I literally just bought this for double, that’s not sitting right with me.
Not at all.
@csos How does it work?
@Stallion you pay them money and morningsave ships you things.
@csos I stopped visiting them when they made it so you had to login JUST to see what they offer.
I have one of those cars that didn’t come with Bluetooth. Can’t decide if I need this or not. I’ll wait and see what the herd thinks.
@mehgrl you may need help sorting out need vs. want
if you talk on the phone in the car today with the phone propped on your shoulder, you need this
@Yoda_Daenerys I usually just put the call on speaker.
@mehgrl if that works for you pretty well, skip this
i got a much more expensive version of this for the spousal unit and it sounds horrible
@Yoda_Daenerys Good to know. Thank you.
This would be great if I had a car that was built in 1985.
@gglockner i’m driving an '04. The factory stereo didn’t even have a CD player.
@danpritts should’a’ went for the $1200 cd player /s
My 2011 truck does not have bluetooth.
But I am still not buying one of these.
My car was built in 1986.
But my GPS has Bluetooth, so meh.
I had to buy three of the BT 3.0. One is for my 1991 Acura NSX, which still has a tape deck. The two other are for potential Xmas gifts.
awry-damp-bat
@calbear That’s been one of my favorite cars since the 90’s. Someone drives one to work in my building at least a few times a week. Red and looks brand new still, at least from 20’ away.
@calbear “my 1991 Acura NSX” i am sooo jealous
@djslack I agree about the NSX being one of my favorite cars. I have had two simultaneously (first was bought in 1997 and sold less than two years ago), and even with the other cars I have, I look forward to driving the NSX every time. This will be great for somewhat updating the car.
@danpritts Thanks Dan. I will take that as a compliment. I updated the car to the 2002+ Type R look. Here is a recent pic. Looking forward to using this in the car, especially with the new law in effect next year about not being able to touch your phone at all while driving.
@calbear definitely consider it a compliment. Looks great.
autotrader here i come
@calbear i would totally buy one off you lol meant to but hubby went into for heart surgery and didnt get a chance to get back to meh before they sold out
I mean the 3.0 one does have a2dp… so it will bluetooth mangle music… so I guess this technically is a bluetooth speaker. keep up the good work meh.
I have yet to meet a bluetooth microphone - headset or visor clip - that actually works as described. Not one. I’ve tried cheap and expensive, boom mics and earbuds. Never have I ever had a call on any of them that did not involve me resisting the urge to toss the damn bluetooth device out the window.
how does removing a space and a capitol B get you 664 more days?
Does it come with the lapel pin?
I like my phone, but the headphone jack is trashed. I wonder if I could get the one of these with headphone jack and plug my favorite headphone into it? Put the “car kit” on my belt…
@kaighintze you could use one of the Bēm not-mini speakers for that… pair your phone to it via bluetooth and then plug your headphones into the aux out.
No clip, but if your put it in your pocket you would have a conversation starter…
(the not-mini one)
@kaighintze Pretty impressive, you’re a visionary. Apple trashed their headphone jack and made everyone pay for the favor.
I’m one of those “hang up and drive” people.
The only people that call my voice number are people I don’t want to talk to.
neanderthal-neutral-heart
Cool I can use this with Smart Lock to keep my phone unlocked when I’m driving my old Jeep. My old Motorola one is dying. Got the secret $1 off too!
@LankHairdoo What’s the $1 off deal? From email?
1 dollar? Aint nobody got time for that.
This is something i want but the $5 shipping kills me since I’d only want one and current budget constraints (and 2 years of checking in on here) usually mean i probably won’t buy another thing for VMP to matter
@Twiminy oh come on, you know you want a water bottle or four…
freezing-unnerving-liver
Can we buy these in bulk and pass them out to people we see driving with their phone on their shoulder? Much friendlier than using a brick…
@mehcuda67
Squirt gun?
Ewwww Meh… I feel old enough already as it is. Stop this
Man, I hate bluetooth. I never make calls on the go anyway, so for me the only use is to play music from mine (or a friend’s) phone. It used to be you had an Aux. Is it just a missing logo, or is it different. Does the Ayrton Senna version make you drive faster? Can you use that as an excuse to get out of tickets?
Is there a Tora Takagi version? I want to spin.
Can music be played thru this as well?
@Cooky on a Youtube video review, it said it could.
I think I found my Christmas gag gift for my nephew. Give him a reason to call me an “outdated fart”.
I’ve got one of those fancy Ford’s with the Sync built in. The three phone calls I’ve made in my car so far this year have been pretty dang good through the factory system, so I think I’m okay passing this up. I’ll see how I feel about it in the morning, just to be safe.
What advantage does this have vs me just buying a new vehicle with this feature built in? Portability?
@MrMark If you replace your 1996 Accord with a new one, your insurances costs will increase.
@MrMark it costs about $20000 less.
Is the bluetooth 3.0 completely sold out, or might there be more available at 4pm / post 4pm for VMP?
@SirLouie they are gone…
@thismyusername for them being gone. for your South Park clip.
/giphy puny-detrimental-raspberry
Both my vehicles are 2006 Fords so this will bring them both a decade forward. Both vehicles are in good condition so I plan on driving them as long as possible.
Also why not?
@gr8whiteninja my vehicles are both 90’s models. This will make me hi-tech.
Give it a camera, this looks like it belongs in a tape deck
Hmmm … comment / reply counter is acting up.
Can’t see the 42/62.
Hands free but it is thinking free? Nice piece thogh
We have one vehicle with no bluetooth, so this will come in…handy?
/giphy itchy-lucky-farm
I tried to update my credit card info to buy this, two of these actually. Something went wrong, it wouldn’t update. How can I get these?
@Baber08 well this is a daily deal site and the deal changes daily, but good news… they usually repeat deals, weekly and monthly sometimes, so hang in there… it might come back up… maybe… if they have anymore… and knowing them they do… they usually do…
perhaps you would like a water bottle instead?
I ordered the 3.0 hoping that it would be the Ayrton Senna Signature edition as shown on Amazon. It came yesterday and it totally was! Even came with a little Senna signature pin. Me like. I like the on/off SWITCH. Maybe I will wear it on my baseball cap.
Sorry, but it’s not worth the money. It’s nothing more than a glorified speaker phone. I used it once and put it in a corner somewhere.
After going through a zillion blue tooth headsets, this fit for me. It picks up my voice easily, unlike the speakerphone on my my phone. I always ride alone and I have one for each car. Happy.

@mrAcksel nice try mister…
@thumperchick are you hungry for some link spam?
@thismyusername mmmmm, SPAM.
