@yakkoTDI You know, it actually might. You can get DOOM on android devices, and since this has Andriod built in with play store access, the answer is “probably.”
@Shilofax And why not? The method is sometimes referred to as side loading. I’ve used it on several Android devices that no longer receive updates as they have been halted by the manufacturer. ASUS is notorious for this practice. In fairness, I’ve never performed an update on a projecter, but please, enlighten me as to your understanding of how Android OS updates work, and why it couldn’t be accomplished via SL with this projector.
OK, now that National Chilly Dog Day is complete, everyone can take their pups out of the freezer (leaving more room for batteries) and sit them down to watch 101 Dalmations from one of these projectors, while they become hot dogs once again.
As a projector, this is far worse than the 720p LED model from last year. As a smart device, this thing is ancient. I don’t think you can even install Netflix on Android 7.1.
It is also less than the sum of its parts. Hard pass on this thing.
@ohhwell Actually, given that this one’s horizontal resolution is 854, it’s slightly higher than that 720p was. But it’s still not even 1080, let alone anything resembling high def.
Fuggit. The willful ignorance on display is not worth my time. I’m out of this thread. (I wouldn’t buy this projector, but that’s because I have zero need for one. If I needed such a thing, I’d shop around rather than impulse-buying a unit merely because it was heavily discounted.)
Recently purchased a much better projector from big A*. Super specs compared to this one at half the price. I appreciate MEH trying to give us great deals but this isn’t one to me. Vankyo is also sold at BB. Same issue of low specs vs. high price even with an included screen (that you have find a place to hang up yourself).

Will this run Doom?
@yakkoTDI You know, it actually might. You can get DOOM on android devices, and since this has Andriod built in with play store access, the answer is “probably.”
Android 7.1 OS…hmmmm…hmmm…
@eeterrific You should be able to download the apk for Snow Cone ( v. 12.0 ) and install/upgrade.
@detailer That is not at all how android updates work, lol.

I’ve gotten a few of their projectors. They’re wildly adequate.
Vankyo?? No Thank Yo!!
@IndifferentDude You’re velcome!

@phendrick You’re a sick puppy!
@ircon96 But I’ve had all my shots, and try to cut down on my eating cat poop.
@phendrick Good boy! But you’re still not allowed on the couch.
ONKYO, in association with VANDELAY Import Group presents the new Vankyo GO300 Mini DLP…
@MrJazz
/image vandelay import export
150 lumens?!? Maybe I can add some brightness by putting a candle inside it.
Y’know what, I’m not going to bother trying to 'splain what’s wrong here.
Go read the ANSI spec docs for measuring projector output, and then do the quiz.
@werehatrack Fine I’ll link your reply from the last projector sale
Was considering it for some reason until the review they posted mention the sound is pretty crappy…
@shirlema all i needed to hear… or not hear i guess. Thanks for saving me some projected dough
@shirlema connect a Bluetooth speaker to it. Should help with audio
Picture me this: a shady merchant selling a projector that can’t cast shade.
@hchavers It has no issue casting shade. That’s the trouble- we want it to cast light.
120" screen and 480p resolution?
That sounds like a 10 feet of disappointment.
@OutbackJon 854x480, which is 16:9 but weird, and infers lots of pixel interpolation or discard going on.
These should just be « direct to IRK » and save us all from discussing how crappy they must be.
Seems like it would be fun to take camping. 2 hour battery charge. Throw the screen up on the side of an RV and good to go.
Ew 480p
@Skylord123 854x480, which is 16:9 but low by current standards. Still, it’s not anywhere near as ludicrously bad as NTSC.
Do these things still have a loud fan?

@werehatrack The horizontal resolution of 720p is 1280 pixels so, no.
@werehatrack 480p is 852x480. This is 854x480. It what universe does an increased width of 2 pixels make it better than 720p (1280x720)??
@Jamesperson @werehatrack I believe they were confused on horizontal VS vertical.
480p , didn’t realize it was 1999
@spivy66 854x480. That’s actually pretty good.

150 Lumens…but hey, at least the native resolution sucks! (Or, as grandpappy might-would’a-used-to-say: “All that meat and no ‘taters!”)

@werehatrack Then you are definitely on the wrong site. most purchases here are an impulse buy, yo. Vankyo!

@mehmef Wow. A DLP projector with a built in battery and internal android operating system with Wifi for $60?
@mandirose @mehmef probably not.
hey Marlins Guy!
resolution is pathetically low
480p resolution is rather sad, could have easily have been 720p which would have been a hell of a deal
