With most carriers, you will need to pay at least 2x this price to bring it on each flight. My niece says “always use first class” but I had to say they don’t have a first class on that airline. We are limited to economy, basic economy, premium economy. It’s sure not like in the good ol’ days.
@pmarin With the notable exceptions of United’s “basic economy” and most fare classes on Frontier, you should be able to bring a carry-on bag of this size for free on domestic airlines. If you aren’t paying for “premium economy” let alone first class, then you’ll probably be asked to gate check the bag for free anyway. I’ll often take advantage of this even if I have an upgraded ticket. (I’m tall, so I often pay the “extra legroom” tax) Then I can stick my backpack in the overhead bin after pulling out a small bag with just my earbuds, hand sanitizer, and charger/power bank for my underseat item.
Honestly, it seems backwards for carriers to charge for checked bags while allowing a free carry-on. Everyone tries to push the size limits, it encourages “gate lice”, and it slows boarding times down as folks scramble trying to find overhead bin space.
@pmarin I hate how they keep making the carry-on size restrictions smaller. I have a 24 inch suitcase that is one of my favorites that used to be the carry-on size
