US review of the WLToys V383 collective pitch quad
4This is the first review I've seen done in the US with a retail production version of the WLToys V383 collective pitch quadcopter.
This thing is a GIANT! I didn't realize how big it was until I saw this reviewer handling it. It's about 20 inches long by 17 inches wide.

Yeah it's a 400mm or 500mm class quad. I'd love to see this build in a 250mm class I bet that would be one fun FPV flight.
Anybody out there that has one ? I have mine eith a dx7 spectrum and a hobbyking reaper 500.can anyone help me set this up all the way
@nandom I don’t think anyone in the current active group has one. There was a guy… I think his handle was @DJMajickMan, and I think he got one of these when they first came out a few years ago. He sort of strayed from our community though.
@nandom @ruouttaurmind I have a Reaper 500 that I snagged for $50 on hobbyking when they had some kind of crazy doorbuster sale where everything sold out of super limited quantities in seconds. I got the PNF version but I have no battery that fits it and haven’t ever gotten around to doing anything about that.
I found out afterward that I could have bought the RTF for the same price, but if I’d have spent the time hunting it I probably would have missed out. I also suppose that if I had the RTF version, I would probably now just have pieces of a Reaper.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t help @nandom out with any setup questions.
I’m guessing this is the 3d mode he mentions?
@Seeds Wow! Now here’s a deep cut! Digging into the necro file today? LOL!
At the time, those collective pitch drones were pretty amazing. They haven’t exactly set the drone world on fire, but there is a small and dedicated group of enthusiast and a series of various competitions, mostly focused on free-form type flights (like ice dancing, snowboarding or gymnastics routines in the Olympics).
@ruouttaurmind haha I didn’t even look at the date- just saw @nandom’s bump. In my defense, I’d never heard of a collective pitch drone and thought it seemed pretty interesting.
@Seeds They are most definitely interesting, and every time I watch a vid on one I have to fight back the urge to get yet another freakin’ drone!
