@OnionSoup Well, that certainly dampens my appetite for the meal I have on the way! On the other hand, most bags I’ve received have been stapled shut and had tons of restaurant-branded stickers sealing them. I remove the stickers before recycling the bags, and usually have to tear the bags to do so. I’ll start watching for exceptions.
@ThunderChicken yeah, I think they’re doing that for Covid now. I’ve noticed that picking food up too. Pizza places for example don’t open your pizzas to show you any more. They come in sealed boxes.
So you’re probably safe from them tampering with your food now if is stapled or taped shut. One good thing to come from the coronavirus.
I’ve never used food delivery services on the basis that the delivery convenience isn’t worth the extra cost to me. I also have half a dozen restaurants I love to get food from within biking distance from my house, so there’s that, too.
I’ve used them and delivered for them when times were hard. My father and girlfriend have also delivered for them during periods between jobs. None of us have ever sipped a drink or stolen a fry. Can’t speak for others, but that’s just gross. Plus, most people order food I don’t like anyways.
I use Postmates. It’s big in LA and they have pretty good coverage by me.
Keep in mind, if you want to support a local biz during these times, ordering directly from them saves them the 15-30% commission that delivery apps take as a “customer referral fee”.

Not to mention certain app companies have “tip sharing” policies that essentially steal tips intended for the delivery person to subsidize the delivery apps when they pay less than minimum wage. Cash is always king.
Nah, I wouldn’t want the extra complexity if I’m not happy about something, don’t like the idea of a startup screwing up a restaurant’s ability to operate. Don’t really like it when people show up at my front door, in general. I’d rather pick things up myself.
Don’t trust them.
I think I read 80% of drivers admit to having stolen fries or taking sips from drinks (or otherwise stealing portions of your purchase).
I wonder if the drivers wash their hands before sticking it in your food too.
/ It might not have been 80%, don’t remember exact number but I remember it was a very high percentage. Definitely in the majority.

Only a couple times when on vacation and at hotel and getting out somewhere would cost anyway, cheaper than from the hotel.

Never used any of them. If I want delivery I get pizza or Chinese. It just seems like a waste of money to me.

We haven’t because celiac. I don’t need another weak link between my food and me. We have enough issues dealing directly with restaurant staff.
