@boygenius1991 I got them last time they were up (for $96 I might add) They sound alright, but they constantly will drop signal and I have to unplug them or restart them. Not sure if it’s a regular occurrence or just mine.
I’ve been dying for meh to do another headphone deal, as I’ve managed to break one pair of 808s, lose another, and ripped those godawful Looney Tunes buds to shreds. I don’t really care about the mic, would this be a good Bluetooth over-ear for every day use? Ideally for audio isolation from weirdos on the train and at work?
@dcm714 I use them to shut out other people, and they work well for that. It becomes almost disorienting to no longer hear the noises around me that I know should be there. It’s not like the entire world goes silent, but it does get a lot quieter.
@dcm714 Do you like ear buds that go all the way in your ear? A decent set with comply foam tips added make a great seal. I have an old set of klipsch s4’s and shures’s that are decent and it’s like wearing ear plugs.
@techn9ne816 legit question: Is SteelSeries stuff any good? I’ve been sitting on a pair of mechanical keyboards that I picked up at an auction, a SteelSeries 7G and a Sades K10… I was intending on auctioning them (because I’m happy with my Logitech G510 even though it’s not mechanical) … but I got to looking at them, and I kind of want to try one out. The SteelSeries seems to not have a Windows key, though, which is pretty crappy for using it when not gaming… and the K10 LEDs look like a nightmare… lol
OTOH, I can’t actually list the SteelSeries at ebay because of some brand restriction BS.
@eblade They are amazing they are the top brand now and esports are using them. My buddy is sponsored by them and he gave me the m500 keyboard which is 100 bucks. Steelseries, now is the way to go. Razor dropped a lot.
I have a bit of a technical question, how does bluetooth have the bandwidth to handle 8 channels of high quality audio? If the source is 320Kbps-per-channel (times 8 it would be 2,560Kbps total), and bluetooth has a limit of 2Mbps (2,048Kbps?), so how does that work?
I hope the Big Meh Man will put something up that’s nice at a killer price, one per customer, As a way of saying thanks, and our way of saying thanks is to buy it. Maybe this is the deal, although someone said this deal was up once before. I’ll wait for a few more reviews before judging.
I’m also not a huge fan of Turtle Beach, they’re pretty close to the bottom of the barrel… they usually break within the first 6 months or so and their CS reps are what some might colloquially refer to as “dicks.”
@Chops I can concur with the Turtle Beach breaking as I have gone through about eight sets I have bought off of woot. Am I allowed to use that word here, meh? Anyway I just broke another pair and it is always in the same place too. I managed to tape, glue, screw, brace them for another few weeks until they break again. But meh is always one step behind, I already bought another headset from another site and just received them on my doorstep this morning for me to try when I get hone tonight.
@Chops lol. my step son and his friends insist that Turtle Beach is high quality stuff. I’m just thinking… unless the world has gone completely off the deep end, Turtle Beach stuff has historically been ass garbage.
Been using these for a while. Aside from some bluetooth silliness with the Mac and them feeling a bit clampy after 6+ hours, I love them. Definitely worth it for $75.
So, I don’t really want 'em, but I decided to read the manual anyway to see what people were fucking up and ahh… yeah I dunno. The basic setup all looks pretty standard to me. The most I’d say you need to take a look at is the diagram of what all the buttons 'n shit do. Only thing I can see that gets a bit complicated is if you want to connect multiple devices at the same time but at that point if you’re not at least checking the instructions you deserve to fail.
No sign of any “boom mic” as mentioned in the writeup. Are you guys posting this shit from Colorado? Are you smoking that new Hunter S. Thompson Gonzo designer weed?
Hey meh, got these last time @ $94, so fuck you! I guess I’m a sucker and a stupid fuck to boot! You owe me a refund on the difference which I’m sure you won’t do…
If you have any integrity as a company you will refund me $19, and I will sing your praises far and wide
@robson you’ll probably get a refund for the difference, on your death bed.
OR
they’ll give it to some other deal you backed out of, like a magazine subscription or your late fees at blockbuster.
which then you’ll have to go somewhere to file something in some office, in triplicate and
pay a $10 handling fee.
But you’ll only have a credit card, so that costs an
extra $5.
But you’ll go through with it because otherwise all the time you’ve already invested+ the gas, ink, stress of knowing you paid too much. they’ll send you the $4 check, but your identity will have been stilen from the transaction that took place, so you wont be able to deposit it.
Either way - you die with out that money.
Happy Holidays!
@robson I once asked Amazon for a difference refund when the price dropped on an item I had just bought. Sanjay (aka “Steven”) laughed so loud I didn’t need the phone to hear him.
Mehhhhhhhh… I’m tempted (7.1! That’s so many .1s! Two more than usual!) but there’s not a set of over-ear headphones I’ve tried that weren’t super uncomfortable to wear with glasses. It’s like anti-nerd prejudice or something, maaaaan.
I got these last time they were up (for $94 I might add). They sound great, when they’re working. Unfortunately they will regularly drop signal and just stop working. I then have to unplug the wireless hub and plug it back in to get them working again. The bluetooth is a bit more reliable, but has done the same thing. I do like that you can dual pair bluetooth. e.g. your phone and laptop. Makes it easy to switch between them. But unfortunately, they keep dropping sound and I don’t know if I would recommend purchasing them, unless it’s just my pair being buggy.
Ok, so I bought these for my 13 year old daughter and she was PSYCHED! Then she tells the mic sucks and gives them to me. I don’t know what the heck is up with the mic, but I found the mic to be awesome! I made tutorials using it and I spoke at my normal volume and they are all clear as a bell. It turned out that she was wearing them backwards (hello, there is an R and an L on each side!!) so she took them back. No report yet on whether she finds the microphone sufficient when wearing the set the right way…I’ll report back when she does. But F*CK ME, these headphones are AWESOME! Really kinda hoping that she still isn’t happy and gives them back to me!
@paulasheri Dear Diary, I’m as dumb as a 13 year old girl. Was I … yes … I WAS WEARING THEM BACKWARDS. Thank you for figuring out my technological (and psychological) issues. Many thanks.
@PlacidPenguin@paulasheri’s post showed me that I too was wearing my headset backwards, which is still quite comfortable, but renders the mic virtually useless. I had never seen (and still can’t find) the L or R to indicate direction, however the buttons are supposed to be on the back NOT the front.

I can’t hear you!!
@yakkoTDI What did you say???
@Stallion huh?
@pbjpenguin “I-Said-What-Did-You-Say-?”, better yet maybe this will help:
@yakkoTDI Obligatory earworm:
are these good?
@boygenius1991 3.5/5 stars on amazon. Time to Meh.
@boygenius1991 I got them last time they were up (for $96 I might add) They sound alright, but they constantly will drop signal and I have to unplug them or restart them. Not sure if it’s a regular occurrence or just mine.
Game on tonight you hear me now?
So incredibly meh.
Last time these were posted everyone said the mic might as well be non-existent it’s so bad. Which might be a deal breaker for a “gaming” headset.
Got these last time at $96. Can confirm mic sucks ass.
Come on, real men don’t RTFM!!
@dcm714 I’m enjoying picturing you wearing the Looney Tunes buds on the train.
@dcm714 I use them to shut out other people, and they work well for that. It becomes almost disorienting to no longer hear the noises around me that I know should be there. It’s not like the entire world goes silent, but it does get a lot quieter.
@iynque That sounds like just what I’m looking for, thanks!
@dcm714 Do you like ear buds that go all the way in your ear? A decent set with comply foam tips added make a great seal. I have an old set of klipsch s4’s and shures’s that are decent and it’s like wearing ear plugs.
@dcm714 yeah those 808s were great at the price! I also know the pain of going through headphones like a hot knife through butter…
@RDW0409 I just got a pair of these for myself and M’lady. For $15 they are freaking amazing.

If you’re a gamer everyone knows you go to steelseries, so Meh!
@techn9ne816 legit question: Is SteelSeries stuff any good? @techn9ne816 hmm. the one I have is a 7G. I didn’t find too many reviews. :|
@trav Two speakers. Two ears.
The rest is marketing BS for channels and such. And crap loads of lossy compression.
@trav That’s available when using the USB transmitter with a computer, not over Bluetooth.
@mike808 @iynque thanks. in short, “meh”
@trav not sure I have EVER seen a device (phone, tablet etc.) that is listed as capable of sending a bluetooth 7.1 signal…
I hope the Big Meh Man will put something up that’s nice at a killer price, one per customer, As a way of saying thanks, and our way of saying thanks is to buy it. Maybe this is the deal, although someone said this deal was up once before. I’ll wait for a few more reviews before judging.
ugh these again?
Anyone know if this works with an Xbox One? And how does the mic compare with the bundled headset that comes with the Xbox One?
@kmbear I’d say most likely not, it looks like it uses a USB transmitter https://shop.turtlebeach.com/us/i60
I’m also not a huge fan of Turtle Beach, they’re pretty close to the bottom of the barrel… they usually break within the first 6 months or so and their CS reps are what some might colloquially refer to as “dicks.”

is this a sound purchase?
@sp3ar
@sp3ar not really, they’re kind of cool but uncomfortable if you have a big noggin
@Chops Collaborate and listen…
Newegg has a set of over-the-ear BT headphones as a Flash sale right now. Not fancy 7.1, but they’re only $17.50. Bluedio TS2 at Newegg
@huja … Dude, thanks. I bought 2 more. I own a pair I bought for $30. They are great
@huja link goes to what is clearly an ON EAR headphone, so, thanks but no thanks…
@huja One thing I like about Meh, if the day’s deal is really meh, but I want a non-meh version, somebody always has one in the comments.
So, I don’t really want 'em, but I decided to read the manual anyway to see what people were fucking up and ahh… yeah I dunno. The basic setup all looks pretty standard to me. @jaburg There is no boom mic. The internal mic is awful. Assume it’s worthless and you’ll save yourself a lot of hassle.
Oh yeah. Got a set of these for $20 - not wireless, but they kick ass and they LIGHT THE FUCK UP!
LED Headphones
To return to fucking manufacturer or to not return to fucking manufacturer?
Really depends on the warranty language. And the store. And the manufacturer service quality.
Are headphones the new speaker docks? Ugh.
Hey meh, got these last time @ $94, so fuck you! I guess I’m a sucker and a stupid fuck to boot! You owe me a refund on the difference which I’m sure you won’t do…
If you have any integrity as a company you will refund me $19, and I will sing your praises far and wide
@robson So whenever you buy something and it goes on sale for a cheaper price at a much later date, you’re owed a refund? Get real.
@robson
@robson you’ll probably get a refund for the difference, on your death bed.

they’ll give it to some other deal you backed out of, like a magazine subscription or your late fees at blockbuster.

@robson This might be the dumbest comment I’ve ever read on here. Or the best troll.
@robson where on the site does it promise that they will never undersell themselves at a later date? Pray, tell me.
@robson I once asked Amazon for a difference refund when the price dropped on an item I had just bought. Sanjay (aka “Steven”) laughed so loud I didn’t need the phone to hear him.
Would these be good to watch tv in bed so my wife doesn’t get ticked when I watch tv late?
@footerwah1 No, but these would be perfect for you.
North Dakota! seriously?
RTFM!
My recommendation…
http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=15274
Designed for fruits, but “also works with Windows” and 90% of the set up instructions are for fruits? Easy pass.
“If you want to get the most out of the dual noise-cancelling boom mics”
I see no booms. Wut?
I got these last time they were up (for $94 I might add). They sound great, when they’re working. Unfortunately they will regularly drop signal and just stop working. @de1irium
o_O
Not really sure what just happened.
@PlacidPenguin @paulasheri’s post showed me that I too was wearing my headset backwards, which is still quite comfortable, but renders the mic virtually useless. I had never seen (and still can’t find) the L or R to indicate direction, however the buttons are supposed to be on the back NOT the front.
Lol glad to be of help with the technological issue, you’re on your own with the psychological ones.
@paulasheri I’m something of a prodigy amongst my friends now. I’m not allowed to repeat the story any more.
