@azndante
Read: plastic. If you’re living in a cold, dry climate and your heat doesn’t work, totally pick up some microfiber sheets. Otherwise, avoid like the plague.
Oh and the microfiber sheets I mistakenly bought have always had tons of static to make that more fun as well
Microfiber is rebranded polyester. It’s basically plastic fibers woven into cloth. It’s not breathable, but it’s cheap to make.
Any time you see ‘moisture wicking’ clothing it’s these plastic fibers. The synthetic ones are smoother than real fibers so fluid moves along them more easily
@haydesigner@KyehI had some cheap cotton sheets before but they don’t last long. On the plus side, they were super cool because they were so thin. As a hot sleeper, it’s a double edged sword.
@hchavers
I would have washed them before using them no matter what they were, and I’m not going to take their word for it that pre-tumbled means something similar to being washed. As for why I would wash them first, it’s not to remove any possible residues that might have been present as a result of somebody testing them in advance. It’s because I don’t trust the manufacturer to not leave traces (or more than traces) of industrial chemistry in them.
Hmm… so it is pre-tumbled so that you can go to bed, go to straight to sleep and in the morning others can be impressed you had been, umm, doing tumbling business in bed that night?
@craigcush I mean, this is a one-item-a-day outlet sale site that these guys have been successfully doing for like 2 decades now. This isn’t a department store or Walmart. If you don’t like the selection, shop elsewhere?
@emcrocetti Clearly, a well&funded study to examine this issue in detail is called for. But with all of the other crucial topics competing for the research budgets, I fear that it would be some time before this could be addressed. Perhaps we could get a whole bunch of people to contribute small amounts by having some sort of promotional thing like the Girl Scouts do. Perhaps by selling, oh, I don’t know, just brainstorming here, cotton sheets?

What do you mean???
Yay, more sweaty plastic (I mean microfiber) sheets!
Microfiber…pass
Please dear Gods of Meh, sell some cotton sheet sets!
Signed,
Someone with worn sheets.
We just got rid of our microfiber…did not work well in our washer…too much water got absorbed. Hard to drain, put stress on the drum.
I didn’t even have to look at the specs to know it wasn’t 100% cotton…
(hinthint Meh buyers)
@haydesigner Yeah, the price alone gave it away…
@haydesigner @KyehI had some cheap cotton sheets before but they don’t last long. On the plus side, they were super cool because they were so thin. As a hot sleeper, it’s a double edged sword.
Please, NO MICROFIBER CRAP…
Great to know these sets are washed before we get them. So, what about all those other sheet sets?
@hchavers

@hchavers @werehatrack Yeah, same reason I wash all the new clothes I buy, too.

Very pretty colors!
My friend is still asking about the rubber sheets.
So they come already wrinkled?
You people don’t listen… or read!
Most comments are and have been negative about microfiber! Many, Begging for cotton sheets myself included.

@SnDMommy Yes dear.
Ugh! Meh has previously offered us COTTON SHEETS!
MICROFIBER is Hot!!! No way!! Give us COTTON SHEETS!!!
…I think folks are pissy about the plastic sheets, and they may prefer cotton. Unsure.

Yeah, sorry, I’m not buying sheets that release microplastics into waterways on every wash and aren’t even comfortable. Hard pass.
I see Meh’s policy of California King exclusion continues!
A giant MEH to microfiber!
@nigebirch I 60% hate the ones that are 60% “microfiber” so that must mean I will hate these 100%
Where were these made? I could guess but, wouldn’t it be better if you just told us (always)?
/buy --material cotton
@caffeineguy Sorry, this deal contains 8 unique items and I’m not sure which one you want. You can review how to pick one, or just try ordering from the checkout page.
@caffeineguy I see what you did there…
It was awesome even though @mediocrebot didn’t get the joke.
POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
…“Buying low-quality GSM (90 and below) microfiber increases the chances of your sheets ripping and falling apart after just a few washes.”
Good for Mhee. i used to think cotton and natural fibers were good. No more. Cotton is the worst material in the world. Love microfiber.
Loved the ad copy.
I’m sure I would have just said “Who wants to buy this vintage sheet?”
These sheets are unbelievably soft and cuddly. I never want to get out of bed.
These sheets are done after 1 use. Already falling apart
