Today the clouds were on the ground, but they were thin and not bouncy looking like in the sky. I don’t know what happened, but I think the squirrels did something!!! Must watch them carefully today!!!
When Penny and I first moved to New England (where I grew up) she did not know what to make of the ground clouds. I’d shovel out a path for her and she’d follow it, do her thing, and race back inside.
Last year she showed that she’s clearly adapted to it. I opened the door after a particularly deep snowfall and before I had a chance to clear anything, she barrelled into the snow, shoved her belly down to make a dent, and did her thing before running around sniffing all the squirrel and fox prints she found.
We also discovered that Penny gets snow nose, so that’s now our official seasonal marker. First sign pink means Winter has come.
@Kyeh She loses color in her nose when it’s cold. Most of the year it’s completely black, but in New England winter weather, she gets small patches of pink where it loses pigment temporarily. Apparently it’s a thing for some dogs, but completely harmless.
@goodjuju for the entire first paragraph I thought you were speaking about a woman.
I thought you were being poetic, and that she hadn’t seen snow because she was from the south.
I started to think it was odd when you said you shoveled a path, and she followed it and did her thing, but I thought you were still being poetic and just assumed you meant she followed the path to the car, did her thing (running out), and then raced back in afterwards because she hated the cold/snow.
Good grief. I was a little slow on that one. Probably because I don’t like snow or cold weather, so I could relate to that as a plausible scenario. But it certainly painted an interesting picture in my brain.
Glad your puppy loves the snow now. I love seeing them play in it!
I probably shouldn’t admit that I was still onboard with a woman until your first comma in the second paragraph. Then the light bulb completely turned on and I was like “ohhhhh”
Oh mom said these ground clouds are called FOG. I love sno, it is fun to run in and I like to stick my head in it. Makes my face feel funny no sno here
@CharlieDoggo Ohh, THOSE ground clouds. Those are fun. Penny likes them because they make her feel tall. Since I keep making fun of her height, here’s a photo to prove how ridiculously long yet short she is.
@CharlieDoggo
I was thinking you meant fog but it was fun to hear about the snow stories! We just had our first snowfall of the year last night, only a inch or two, just enough to make a mess!
@Lynnerizer good amount to run in. You know doggo legs are shorter than hoomans! Did you go play? Maybe stick your head in the sno or build a sno hooman?
Yes, snow can be fun! BUT, just like Penny and her snow nose I have a allergy to the snow and cold weather too, I get hives. So no playing in the snow for me!
Thanks for this.

@goodjuju Oh, how strange!

@k4evryng Oh my, the idea I have of what your face must have done when you got to the belly pressing part is giving me so much joy!
@goodjuju

Yes…I laughed at myself out loud.

Ash says to try tasting the ground clouds - it’s fun! (But stay away from the yellow ones!)
