@Willijs3 Having watched the firewall traffic, all communication & video goes through Trifo’s endpoints. The app communicates via cloud as well. So, if they go under, you’re left pressing start/stop on the vac itself.
@DaveKnowsAll@Willijs3 from reading the user manual it looks like you can run it manually, without it being connected to the WiFi. That’s mostly just so you can connect it to your phone and see through the camera and (I guess) cruise around the house checking stuff out remotely.
@mrJmw It’s a no for me, then. Having to hit the button kind of defeats the purpose of having a robot clean for me while I’m at work. As @DaveKnowsAll commented below, maybe this is one of those products that will get better after the company goes bankrupt and someone creates a better solution. I’ll buy one when they go on sale for $35.
@DaveKnowsAll@Willijs3 I’ve been a bit dismayed at the lack of an API or an SDK. One of these days I may get bored and take a stab at decoding it’s communication/control commands. With it’s cheap cost but decent features, I’d love to see a community tear this thing apart and rebuild it better than before.
Being able to manually edit the map to focus it’s cleaning and maybe keep it away from places robot vacs get stuck would be the killer feature that puts this one over the top. Unfortunately, according to the manufacturer, you can only adjust its boundaries by “closing doors.” Gee…thanks.
This may be one those devices, that gets better after the manufacturer goes bankrupt and communities opensource the code.
@DaveKnowsAll While it draws a map, it does not seem to retain it as it redraws it with each cleaning. I don’t believe this device is “smart” enough to have any actual positioning awareness, it is simply creating a map by knowledge of turns/distance.
Am I reading this right, I can remotely fire this thing up and chase the cats around? I looked at the user manual on their website and it wasn’t really clear on how the manual operation works.
@stolicat I was similarly intrigued by this capability, but after doing some digging with the manual, and the Amazon reviews, it seems that the video feed is set to a very steep delay of a few seconds, or more. Not so much a remote controlled pet-stalker, so much as a robot-vacuum with an incidental ability to check out where it’s going. Yes, you can take manual control, but not effectively maneuver for more than minor adjustments to check on something; not chase it.
Roving robot mounted camera just running around the house willy nilly… umm, I’ve seen that movie and it doesn’t end well. NOT TODAY ROBOT OVERLORDS!

Do not waste your money! I purchased this last month and have been trying to return it since day one. Meh won’t assist other than to direct me to Trifo, and Trifo is wholly unresponsive.
@coolbluelb i tried calling customer service first, and the gal i got was zero help. Ive heard their link on the site didnt go anywhere. The direct email will work.
Sorry Trifo. You are not meh enough. You work too well - and do not belong here. I bought this last month given early as a present and they are very happy with it. You can manually start the cycle, verbally initiate clean and return return to home through Alexa or schedule it. It’s a mop and sweep or vacuum and it cleaned the cabin completely and return to base on its own. It was headed toward my moms chair and she kicked at the bumper plate - and it said ‘stop!’ (Hammertime) And then did.
Then started back up on its own.
Alexa, tell Rosie to stop! - initiates a return to dock for charging. One 800 sq ft cabin hard floors and one carpeted room filled the vacuum bin. No bags. Click to eject, flip to empty, then rinse.
I bought the + model the last time it was for sale here. Word of caution…I would consider this hard floor only. I have very short pile carpet (less than 1/8"), and it cannot handle it. Repeatedly says “main brush stuck”. It does work very well on hard floors though.
@dparry Call them or send email. Mine did the same thing and I sent a video and they said its defective. Their online form doesn’t seem to transmit the email field along with the comments. Oy. They’re sending me a replacement.
Bought last time offered as well, dealing with trifo directly since Meh is meh on my response. M6+ was DOA, trifo sent me a replacement as H6 due to shortage. H6 is not recharging battery and waiting for another replacement. Trifo has great customer service but their QC on robot vac. is horrible. So far, meh.
@nodor Call them or send email to the support@trifo.com. Mine did the same thing and I sent a video and they said its defective. Their online form doesn’t seem to transmit the email field along with the comments. Oy. They’re sending me a replacement.
Mine gets stuck everywhere and likes to go outside. Door jam, no problem, M6+ jumps it like Knievel. It also likes to hide underneath the couch and sit there. Also, when I get him to actually want to work, every time, he heads to the dining room and gets trapped underneath the table and just bounces off the legs until he tires out and takes a nap. This thing is about as useful as my 11-year-old daughter with cleaning the house. Buyer beware, you are buying another child that you will have to take care of.
Umm, Love mine, but quickly realized that this vacuum is NOT good on carpet. Gets stuck all the time, so much so, I close the doors with carpet.
As for hard wood floors. PERFECTO. Love it. Has not had an issue yet.
One weird thing tho, has anyone else noticed a low hum noise when its charging? Just sits there and hums. No issues besides the slight hum. Weird.
@xavier2677 Call them or send email to the support@trifo.com. Mine did the same thing and I sent a video and they said its defective; though I wouldn’t characterize the hum as super low. Their online form doesn’t seem to transmit the email field along with the comments. They’re sending me a replacement.
@tolian49 Its just a low hum for me. Not really worth the effort of packing it up and shipping it off or anything. I just love the fact that a cheap robovac is picking up all the dog hair…
Just waiting on a robovac that will climb and vac stairs…
We bought the Trifo robot a few months ago and after a short while we had to return the iRobot 985 back to Costco, as it did not noticeably outperform the Trifo, and for four times the cost!
It may not have all the features of top of the line robots but it did not cost us 800 - 1000 dollars, either! Only problem we experience is that it struggles with carpet fringes… well… Rumba does that too…
I bought the Ironpie 6+ and it works great, but we have one stair and it doesn’t seem able to realize there’s a drop off so it gets stuck there every time so now we put a box in front of that. Other than that, it works great and this model is currently for sale on Amazon.com for $450 so it was a bargain. And when it got stuck it sent me a message while I was shopping so my husband could go “free” it. Cool. And I can can see what room it’s in with its video camera.
Is there a way to set a perimeter so it won’t leave a certain area? I thought it would create a map of my home but it just seems to map out each cleaning session (which don’t last very long since it gets stuck a lot under furniture or on rug fringe).
Gets stuck on carpet, great for hardwood floors. Maneuvers over area rugs well, but gets all messed up on electrical cords. More trouble than it’s worth. I can use a vacuum cleaner and spend less time than following it around and freeing it from whatever trap it has fallen into.

Meh
I bet this thing sucks
Anyone know how much of the thinking/processing is done locally? Or does it send all the video and data to the Trifo servers first?
I guess my real question is, if this company goes under, will I be stuck with a useless vacuum?
@Willijs3 And how much of your floor plan will have been made available to foreign powers, and/or hackers…?
@Willijs3 Beware! Putin is watching your cat!

First comment 3 minutes in… Is this the apocalypse?
@chienfou Maybe. Better have a drink just in case.

@stolicat Yes, you can. It gives you a Dpad and video display in manual mode
@stolicat I was similarly intrigued by this capability, but after doing some digging with the manual, and the Amazon reviews, it seems that the video feed is set to a very steep delay of a few seconds, or more. @bransonboyds - Also, it doesn’t do carpet well.
Manufacture pay for two way shipping for warranty?
@givemehdeal Yes, but it takes a loooong time for the robot vac to find its way back…
@givemehdeal @shahnm
thank god for that they already longer than they need 2 B
they climbin in yo windows they snatchin yo people up
@dvermilion OMG… that ‘dog’ is WAY too much like the Black Mirror episode Metalhead
@chienfou that’s where black mirror took it from.

@chienfou
/youtube spot Bruno Mars
@chienfou and I actually like the fan remix better. More unsettling.

Do not waste your money! I purchased this last month and have been trying to return it since day one. Meh won’t assist other than to direct me to Trifo, and Trifo is wholly unresponsive.
@coolbluelb i emailed support@trifo.com and got a response in a couple hours, and they overnighted me a new unit.
@coolbluelb No issues with mine…wifey loves it.
@jnicholson0619 I filled out the warranty form on their website as directed by meh. Will give the email a try. Thanks for the info.
@coolbluelb i tried calling customer service first, and the gal i got was zero help. Ive heard their link on the site didnt go anywhere. The direct email will work.
really hittin’ that Christmas market hard, right Meh?

@runny this one doesn’t do the mop - that’s the M6+. This one just vacs.
@runny this one does not mop. I got that one too. Love it!
I am very happy with my Rosie, working great for the last month. We often have deathmatch battles with the Roomba and Rosie is most-often the winner.
I bought a robot vac from meh a few years ago. I thought it would help keep our floor clean.
Unfortunately, our floor is too.cluttered and dirty to allow us to run a robot vac.
@OnionSoup This. Who are you people who live in unlived(unlivable) environments, museum floors?
I bought the + model the last time it was for sale here. Word of caution…I would consider this hard floor only. I have very short pile carpet (less than 1/8"), and it cannot handle it. Repeatedly says “main brush stuck”. It does work very well on hard floors though.
Does this thing remove DNA evidence? Asking for a friend.
@Kenbo Only when you direct it to ‘spot’ clean.
Skynet?
@Jaicienil No. Floornet.
It’s the meh precursor to Skynet.
Bought last time offered, mine makes annoying hum/buzz noise when powered on or charging. Wrote customer support weeks ago. No response.
@dparry did you check your spam and promotions inboxes? Sometimes mail get rerouted there instead.
Also try:
support@trifo.com
@dparry Yes! Mine does too. I’ve been happy with it aside from that. I’d really like to figure out whats up with that.
@dparry Call them or send email. Mine did the same thing and I sent a video and they said its defective. Their online form doesn’t seem to transmit the email field along with the comments. Oy. They’re sending me a replacement.

@myst00 Ugh I hope my replacement that’s on its way is better than yours was…
I have one and it humms (fan running) when it is on the charger. Does this happen with others? It is rather annoying.
@nodor same here

If you’re a VMP. it’s cheaper on morning save (after you factor in the reoccurring discount code us VMP’ers get)
Is VMP’ers a word?
Ordered one and it seems to be stuck at the post office. Attempted delivery every day since Friday, still not delivered. Maybe tomorrow.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@tinamarie1974 Maybe your postoffice has really dirty floors.
@mehcuda67 bet they are clean NOW!!!

the word “Ironpie” is eating my brain

The removable dust collector broke after a week. The plastic seemed old and just cracked as we opened it. Very disappointing.
I am very disappointed with my triforce vacuum. It will not do carpet. Only hard floors.
