For, what with my whole world-wide wandering,
What with my search drawn out through years, my hope
Dwindled into a ghost not fit to cope
With that obstreperous joy success would bring,
I hardly tried now to rebuke the spring
My heart made, finding failure in its scope
@Lynnerizer
Maybe you’ll win and then you can take a vacation!!
I’ve been itching to go to the casino for a while but I never win. I’m always hopeful though. I swear a Gypsy cursed my dads family before I was born (even my mom says so bc we all have the worst luck with money.
As someone who does not have children, I try to vacation when the kids are in school giving me a mostly kid free vacation experience. I have already taken my big vacation
Left yesterday for a short jaunt to visit Mom and Dad. I am excited because it has been way too long. Spent 19 hours traveling, stupid airport layovers. We both live closest to smaller airports so fly to larger airports and wait to fly again. Alternative is to drive 10 hours to bigger airports so it doesn’t save any/much time. We just look for cost differences. It is beautiful and dry here in the SW but we did get some rain last night.
I did wave at the Charlotte and Dallas peeps yesterday!
Going up north to boyfriend’s cottage. It’s not really a vacation though bc a vacation includes the anticipation of planning the trip, staying someone new, exploring things you haven’t or don’t usually do. This is just a short getaway to drive 3 hours north to relax.
Thought our cruising days were coming to an end last year when we took what we kind of envisioned to be our final bucket list cruise from Quebec and Fort Lauderdale.
Through a fortunate set of circumstances we were upgraded to a penthouse suite (and an additional cost of course but less than half the regular cabin cost of 7,500 pp.) and was exposed to a side of cruising we never knew existed.
Gave us the incentive to go on another cruise in the same type of cabin in May which was even better as this newer ship had a concierge lounge right across the hall which only 46 of the 1,600+ cabins had access to.
Figured we’d go out with a bang and booked two more cruises for next year at which point we will be almost 80 years old and I probably will be winding down working and not have the extra money to enjoy such expensive luxuries.
Just returned from an outstanding trip in Italy and Greece. I saw so many historic and iconic locations I was brought to tears several times. I cannot wait to go back, especially to Greece
Heading to Florida!!
@yakkoTDI Try not to melt! It’s horrible here this time of year.
@PooltoyWolf
Just like it has been ever since I was born here.
@yakkoTDI I never got used to it. I stay indoors as much as possible during the height of summer heat.
Haven’t gone on a vacation in probably 15 years. Life sucks!
@somf69 About 30 years for me. Life does suck.
It is c things Keeping me grounded. Being a Caregiver to my Mom & lack of cash. But that is the Big one!

That’s a big fat ‘I wish’. Sigh.
A broken ankle keeps us grounded this year.
Hopefully! Well… IDK if it counts as traveling, it’s more of a-get-away! Nothing big or even far, just a few nights at the local casino.

I spent all my vacation sick in bed!
Maybe next year. Did take an extended weekend down at the beach in the early spring though.
Going to visit my brother in NC (hopefully).

@cbatte September and May are my favorites.

I’m sitting on a cruise ship as I type.
@jitc which one, where to and for how long
@Felton10 Disney Wish. We were in Nassau yesterday and Castaway Cay today. We disembark from Port Canaveral on the 5th.
