@caffeineguy@zhicks1987 That depends on the type of wasp. We have two different kinds of mud dauber around here that would absolutely adore that thing. But the problem should be obvious. Supporting the proliferation of mud daubers means that you end up with more mud dauber nests everywhere else as well. This is not a useful outcome.
@crow Because it’ll probably only house one big black carpenter bee that won’t let anyone else near it. As if that little bastard didn’t already have enough holes in your mailbox, fascia, fence posts, etc
@caffeineguy@crow I don’t know but our science museum has a big one of these that was an Eagle Scout project. There aren’t many bees but they put it on a high roof instead of in the garden.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The top portion looks like it could be used for mason bees. I just watched a really interesting show on them; I’m going to try it out and get some cocoons. I like how they guide you through the process and even buy back excess cocoons at the end of the season https://www.growingagreenerworld.com/mason-bee-revolution/

I don’t understand the backdrop but the bee house is pretty cool.
Don’t put two of them up there if you’re just selling one of them.
@zhicks1987 How are you supposed to see what the back looks like?
@sammydog01 @zhicks1987 A second image of the back would have bee-n better I guess
i bought one of these on sidedeal a while ago, didn’t last a year and i never saw any bugs living in it. neat idea but i don’t think it really works.
So it’s a big wasp nest? Or a home for big wasps?
@caffeineguy Bees like them. Not honey bees, the other kinds. Carpenter bees?
@caffeineguy This is definitely what would happen at my house. Friggin mud daubers…
@caffeineguy Wasps are going to get into everything BUT that. They’ll ignore that thing, but go straight for the cover you have on your motorcycle.

Why does the description subtlety hint at, but never specifically mention bees?

@llangley I was just about to post a similar article- it says we have mason and leaf cutter bees where I live.
