This is a great watch for people who are actually into running and not just "fitness tracking". FitBits, Vivos, and most of the other popular bracelets are glorified pedometers -- the distance track is inaccurate, the calorie count is vague (and often massively overstated for walking and understated for running), and, of course, no GPS track. That last one may be less useful for people who run a set route regularly, but... some of us are obsessive and like that kind of thing. cough. Plus, to get a heart rate without a chest strap is a nice bonus. Those things suck.
@TehChrisReed I just hit 104 in a row! I almost messed up two nights ago. Would have been such a tragedy. I've been meh for over a year and have only just reached the 100 mark without incident. Congrats!
@dlmasonjr To clarify, this is the top of the line of the 3 'running' GPS watches. The other two you referenced are multi-sport watches that have built in altimeters. They also make one for golf.
My memory have given me the courtesy of forgetting the price but I still pull out the watch every few months when break out my workout plan in efforts of my “this time it’s serious” mode. I’m optimistic that my super hero body is around that grueling workout, 5 month corner. All thanks to being able to track my time and heart rate I’m sure.
This is using the Mio HRM hardware, I have a Mio Fuse and love it, pretty accurate and a lot more comfortable than wearing a chest strap. That being said, these have to be worn fairly snug on the wrist to get an accurate reading as they need to block out ambient light on the reader. So consider comfort, both positive and negative, when considering this fitness watch.
@FightingMongoos Seriously? Um...the Microsoft Band does NOT have GPS, which is kind of the point with this advanced a RUNNING watch...and the reason for the higher price.
@FightingMongoos I was going to say this same thing, and also mention the Microsoft Band is now $99. I think they are getting ready for the Band 2 to come out which is why they halved the price.
I use a TomTom Multi-Sport daily. I like the fit and it doesn't weigh much at all-- unlike the previous Nike+ GPS version as well as comparable models from Timex and Garmin.
If you live on the coast, the GPS track is quite accurate. In the hillier, rollier, hairpin-ier parts of the country, not so much.
Really tempted by this one, I've been looking at a watch like this for a month or two now, but haven't bit yet. You may win this round Meh, time for some research.
My fitbit has this polymorphography, too! Yay unstable green lights! And I already have a dozen cheap watches, a Casio with an altimeter and thermometer, and a fitbit, and one nice watch. I'm good on the watch thing.
I think my brain is already alseep because, that smart bluetooth link led to a lot of words that didn't really say anything. So, no sleep deprivation buying tonight! Research will start in the morn.
If I want a watch I have to go fetch before a workout, I may as well use the one with a strap, which is way more accurate than the optical sensors, and even works in the pool. Phone does GPS tracking just fine... That said I'd be tempted if it had a comfortable leather strap. Half the time my fitness watch ends up in my pocket...
I have the TomTom Runner watch and for the most part I really like it. It has some shortcomings for the serious runner doing a lot of interval training, but this should work well for the casual runner. From what I understand, the software for the Cardio is mostly the same as the original TomTom Runner, so my review should apply: http://www.amazon.com/review/R28OZMK6UXPYVI
TomTom is about to come up with the Runner 2, which is going to have the HR monitor, plus add music via bluetooth headphones (not included, IIRC correctly). I haven't heard if they've iterated on some of the shortcomings of their interval & lap modes, but it seems clear they're pushing more and more towards the casual runner. I haven't seen a price for the Runner 2, but I'd expect it to be in the $250-$300 range at launch.
If you want to track your runs in the rain without worrying about bringing along your phone, this seems like a solid bet. I might buy it to replace my TomTom Runner + HR Strap.
@bmccormack TomTom Head phones can be added/included as an accessory (for more $$ at checkout), but I don't know why anyone wouldn't just use their own or an a2dp transceiver with a 3.5mm jack.
So, I've just starting watching Meh, but it always seems to be low rated products. Is that all's that's being sold here? This product is 3.5 stars with 25% choosing 1 or 2 stars for it. I'm interesting in great deals on great products, not junk.
@kirkhilles You may have come to the wrong place :)
This really isn't a bad product, but it's not e.g. a Garmin Forerunner 225, which costs $300. If you want the 4.5 star running watch, you should probably pay the extra money and get the Garmin.
If you're looking for a casual running watch with built-in HR monitor (admittedly a narrow crowd), this is a great deal. TomTom is about to ship the Runner 2, which is why I imagine they're offering this deal on the Cardio right now.
Haha, maybe not. I don't run. I DO go for walks and very much enjoy my Moto 360 and like the step tracking. I didn't look too closely at the reviews, but just noticed the summary. Maybe reviewers are too hard on the product and if it were priced at this price it would get better reviews. I dunno.
wireless-freezing-jewel Convinced by that lengthy dcrainmaker review up there ^ a ways. Planning to squeeze $40 out of my Fitbit Flex to chisel away the cost a little more.

Anyway. DCRainMaker, who's kind of the industry guru when it comes to GPS watch reviews, gave it a pretty positive one: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/04/tomtom-cardio.html
Not a bad purchase if this kind of thing interests you.
Yay! My 100th meh click. I couldn't have asked for a mehier meh to meh. #atleastitsnotaspeakerdock
@TehChrisReed I just hit 104 in a row! I almost messed up two nights ago. Would have been such a tragedy. I've been meh for over a year and have only just reached the 100 mark without incident. Congrats!

Meeeeeeeh.
@Bluedragon07 supermeh
So there's no actual GPS readout? Too bad. Would have been good for wilderness geocaching.
This appears to be their top of the line unit. Here's the Tom Tom page with available watches. https://www.tomtom.com/en_us/sports/running/#productLineup
@cinoclav it is not their TotL. Two other models have more features and list for $249 and $299. Check best buy for a run down of their models.
@dlmasonjr To clarify, this is the top of the line of the 3 'running' GPS watches. The other two you referenced are multi-sport watches that have built in altimeters. They also make one for golf.
I've been trying to figure out which is the best GPS watch for me for a while. I think meh just made the decision for me.

This image fits quite nicely
@Willijs3 Whatever!

Meh! Give us some cheap harmony remotes! anyone know where I can get a really cheap one besides eBay?
@Rodytoon 'Not sure what you consider cheap, but Worst Buy has a deal on a Harmony Touch for $99. (new)
@Rodytoon Last year bought some refurbs on Newegg.
@Rodytoon I was a minute away from saying "eBay!" Then I read "besides eBay." Oh well, I'll post it anyways!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251853586111?rmvSB=true
@Rodytoon last year Black Friday brought a few Harmony remote deals (BestBuy, etc)

Who here doesn't own ninety million watches by now?
@gertiestn I don't. I don't own A watch.
@Thumperchick I own many watches. I wear exactly zero of them.
in for 3!
@username Congrats! You've bought almost half the sales so far! (AZ or PA?)
The Microsoft Band does more, has a color display, and costs just about the same.
@FightingMongoos Dang. That does look a lot better than the Tom^2.
@FightingMongoos Seriously? Um...the Microsoft Band does NOT have GPS, which is kind of the point with this advanced a RUNNING watch...and the reason for the higher price.
@clarinetbob The Microsoft Band has GPS built in per the website:
But reviews I've read say that it is mediocre as a running watch. Mainly just walking/daily activity tracking.
@FightingMongoos I was going to say this same thing, and also mention the Microsoft Band is now $99. I think they are getting ready for the Band 2 to come out which is why they halved the price.
@clarinetbob Seriously bro. I own a Microsoft Band and I use the GPS function regularly.
Wonder if they'll have a RUN on this deal
yuck. no thanks. not interested in fitness gear.
In for tw....wait, google eyes and mustache NOT included...MEEEEEH
Really tempted by this one, I've been looking at a watch like this for a month or two now, but haven't bit yet. You may win this round Meh, time for some research.
I hate to say this, but this might be a better deal for $100 groupon, but the model is not clear
https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-tom-tom-runner-gps-watch-1
@TaRDy The ones on Groupon are lower level models. See my link a bit down the page for the comparison page.
@cinoclav Thank you for the clarification
@TaRDy it is not this one: those are 1RR0 models and best buy has those for $99, one even at $79.
My fitbit has this polymorphography, too! Yay unstable green lights! And I already have a dozen cheap watches, a Casio with an altimeter and thermometer, and a fitbit, and one nice watch. I'm good on the watch thing.
Those numbers better be important.
i see it on groupon for $100

@bacon4jason Not the same watch. The ones on Groupon are lower level models. See the link a few posts down for comparison.
@bacon4jason I don't think the Groupon one has HRM function.
@bacon4jason no that's not it. Those are 1rr0 models and are $99 and one is $79 @ best buy
@bacon4jason oh thanks, almost bought the groupon one cuz it was cheaper hahaha whew thank goodness
I preordered the Razer Nabu that ships out in two days so... meh.
Besides, $135 for something that can't even display texts? No thanks.
@npsantini if it can't even display sexts then why bother tracking heart rate anyway
@Lotsofgoats JUst make sure to wear it on the corresponding wrist to get those "steps"
@TehChrisReed everybody would lie about stride length though
Here's a very thorough review.
DC Rainmaker Review
I think my brain is already alseep because, that smart bluetooth link led to a lot of words that didn't really say anything. So, no sleep deprivation buying tonight! Research will start in the morn.
and what are you suppose to listen to on this run???
meh no thanks. my phone works fine and plays music and is paid for
@msujp Nature?
