TIL: meh - Portrait vs Landscape
4Never really noticed the slight distinction before between looking at the forum topic list in landscape vs portrait on my phone. Since I generally use a computer I guess I just never paid any attention to the differences in detail.
(I knew you had to be in landscape to be able to post pictures/links but didn’t realize there were other subtle changes.)
In portrait it tells you when the last comment to a topic was made.
In landscape you get the name of the poster as well.
Now you know…

Just checked, and it doesn’t do that on my Samsung tablet. Details are available in both formats. I can also post pics in portrait.
Interestingly the phone has a better resolution than the tablet so that’s not the issue.
Man, so glad I don’t work supporting software anymore.
@pmarin
Really! Way too many variables!!
Ah. I kinda wish I had an HUD embedded in my corneas.
Huh, I’d never noticed that either! Interesting …!
The page does something even more special when you hold the phone behind your head, facing your head.
@OnionSoup
but I don’t have eyes back there.
@OnionSoup
It disappears?
@chienfou @OnionSoup No. It shows the contents of my trunk.
As far as I am aware, you must be in landscape mode on mobile to be able to upload images and add them to your posts. (That’s how I found out about it.)
It’s actually a bit annoying that I can’t add images in portrait because of how awkward typing in landscape is!
@PooltoyWolf
Yeah. I mention that in the original post.
@chienfou Forgive my flu-addled mind for missing that, sorry.
@PooltoyWolf
No problem. Maybe that’s another example of the changes from landscape to portrait!!
Hope you feel better soon. I know in the last couple of days I’ve seen dozens of cases in our ER. Been masking up and washing my hands even more than usual in the hopes of dodging that bullet before we leave for Costa Rica Friday. (Also bumped my vitamin c the past few days). So far so good.
@chienfou Good luck on your trip! Parents have been there twice, I’d love to see it one day.
