Hey can someone tell me if they saw what the gaming laptop went for before it "sold out" since they refuse to tell you I was hoping someone else knew or knew how to find out
@Barney@placeholder You won't be able to purchase from them for long. They're about to enter a liquidation and selloff phase... I've got a feeling the site will be totally shut down before tax day.
@Collin1000 GMTA! I just read the head's-up and told The Spouse that almost always means a company is going into bankruptcy or a liquidation. Came back here to mention that, and you'd beat me to it [grin].
I only go on there now for the daily deal slasher, I bought a 100 dollars video card with 100 dollar rebate, I just had to pay shipping, its not an amazing video card but it did the job and I got my money back. besides shipping. They did it again today, gaming laptop sold out before I could even go to the site. Ah Well
@zgranowitz EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti Video Card - 1GB GDDR5 PCIe, DirectX 11 Support, Blu-Ray 3D Support, Mini HDMI 1.4a Connector - 602934 nothing to run new things on but can handle things as a backup when my 2GB failed from overheating
@thismyusername I've got a feeling they will be gone before tax day. The new return policy for me was the clear evidence that they are about to enter a liquidation phase. Founders in jail, sold to a new company, 500 people laid off, all retail stores sold, distribution centers closed.... they're going, going, gone.
Watch out using tigerdirect. In addition to the returns policy, they have been bought out by a direct marketing company. No telling what is going on there. http://consumerist.com/tag/rip-tigerdirect/
@genemct from that story... this is what I remember best (worst?) about Tigerdirect: Ironic isn't it?
They’re probably best known for acquiring the brands and assets of CompUSA and Circuit City when both chains filed for bankruptcy and went out of business.
I love how my wanting to know about these deals that I thought were out of this world ends up turning into a place to discuss the latest headlines that I know nothing of if I may digress they had 2 more laptops tonight "sold out" within 15 minutes?!
Caution for any site that smells like it might not be around in the future: if you've previously bought there and saved your credit card info, now is the time to log in and wipe that info!
There only are a few sites (substantial, reputable, long track record) where I save my (use-it-only-for-Internet... and get text alerts for every purchase) credit card.
I typically use Paypal linked to the above Internet-only credit card when the option is available.
For Tigerdirect, I had to add something to their cart to verify I had not saved credit card info there. Perhaps the "Update your credit card info" option under "Account" did not show up because I had nothing stored there.
according to pricezombie, from dec03-23 $1300, from dec24-31 $1400
Make sure that you are aware of TD's new return policy before you buy anything from them:

@placeholder Wow, thanks for pointing that out. No more purchases from them for me.
@Barney @placeholder You won't be able to purchase from them for long. They're about to enter a liquidation and selloff phase... I've got a feeling the site will be totally shut down before tax day.
@Barney That is because they were bought out and are dumping their inventory. Likely not permanent if they stay in business.

@magic_cave or they are trying out meh's business model. :)

Are they shutting it down? I just read up on what happened to them in the last few months... that is wild.

@Collin1000 I had no idea they even had retail stores…

... scratching my head about whether I've broken my own policy on meh.com. ("long standing") Speed-to-buy trumps policy?
@RedOak Nah it is fuku's that trumps your policy I'd bet...
@Kidsandliz we've already got too much crap we don't really need. No blind, wildcard FUKO or BoC chasing for us.
They are DEFINITELY going out of business...This is what companies do just before they liquidate....
