I’m tired of buying backpacks that have “all sorts of pockets” where they’re all about the same aspect ratio. You need one, long pocket (inside or out) for chopsticks, a spork and collected plastic cutlery. (Metal) Chopsticks and a spork are travel essentials. Skip the plastic utensils (intentionally or accidentally) and with the spork you can actually eat the food you grabbed. Save the plastic utensils you inevitably get. With chopsticks you can eat Cheetos and other finger food that you don’t want to touch with your hands (corona virus, flu, colds, other icky crap) or just to skip the bamboo chopsticks. (Why do classy restaurants that would never think of offering you disposable forks only offer you single-use chopsticks?).
@ergomeh Both the ramen and sushi place by me only use the bamboo chopsticks if you get takeout. They have plain black (wooden?) reusable ones at both locations.
I do carry a bag of random crap around though and it does have a small velcro pocket that I keep a couple of sporks and a pair of chopsticks in.
@ddbelyea Congrats on finding a place that understands cutlery (US and oriental). You can get that same spork design in titanium, but I’d suggest the one that doesn’t have the serrations on the tines - the TSA took one of those from me.
@ergomeh The Korean place I go to uses metal chopsticks, but the Chinese place still uses bamboo for both carry out and dine in. It’s become a real problem in China; just think of the millions of disposable chopsticks they go through every day. I don’t know why they don’t switch to reusable.
@ergomeh At least China switched to bamboo and saved the forests, but it’s still a lot of waste to dispose of. Since part of the rationale for using disposables is avoiding contamination, the current coronavirus will probably set back efforts to get rid of disposables, but Western countries that use silverware don’t seem to have a problem with illnesses spreading, so that argument is specious at best. Maybe everyone should just carry their own set.
@Aschdrw@Kidsandliz Yes there’s even a video that shows the pockets pretty well. It looks like a nice bag and surprisingly larger than expected. The water bottle holder seems a bit shallow (it looks like they use a short bottle in the video).
I am unsure what size my work notebook workstation desktop replacement is. I guess I could either go pull it out of the meh purchased bag it’s in & measure it or just buy this & see if it fits.

how do you think this would be as a carry on for those small planes I take out of Louisville to Jersey?..I had a small suitcase (under carry on dimensions)…but the wheels kept hitting the compartment lid and i had to gate check it…I just bring a change of clothes…no laptop
@fastharrydotcom@olsmeister
This is brilliant advice. I have only ever tried to wear a change of attitude over my actual attitude, but I fail every time.
I love seeing mentions of the “fanny pack”. Swiftly renamed the “bum bag” once they started trying to sell them in my homeland (the UK), since “fanny” means something entirely different in British English…
Get the Outdoor Products Vortex daypack. $25 at Wally World. More pockets, built-in waist strap for heavier loads, hydration compatible, water bottle pockets. Lifetime guarantee.
Wish I had the item. It was supposed to have been delivered by this evening. Someone was home all day but no delivery. The tracking info said unable to access location. WOW that is a crock. I live on a side street off of a highway. The roads are clean and plowed and you are within 25 steps from the road to my back door. Hope you others have had better luck with their delivery service than I have.

@ddbelyea @ergomeh Somewhere there’s a TSA agent sporking it up with titanium.

According to this article: https://www.irishtimes.com/news/here-s-hoping-chopsticks-are-given-the-chop-1.282439
(Korean news from the Irish Times - but that’s as far as I’m researching)

@lisagd and a spork. And a quality backpack that can handle such a healthy and environmentally conscious request…
It’s pronounced “tooly”.
@jsh139 don’t you mean thuly?
@jsh139 ah - I see where you were going! You edited while I was mid-comment.
@ybmuG yeah, the site crapped out for a bit. Was having trouble commenting!
@jsh139 that’s our Meh!
OH MY GOD GLEN IS BREAKING OUT OF HIS TRAVEL CARRIER AND HE’S ABOUT TO GET AWAY!!!
If it was plusterra, maybe. Subterra just makes me feel iffy.
@actionPacked Subterra suggests that it should be buried.
So where are the photos of the rest of what the inside of the bag looks like?
@Kidsandliz The pictures were too dark.
@Kidsandliz if you click on the Amazon link and look at the photos in the different offered colours. You can see how many pockets are inside.

sounds like a non crappy offering for once, but don’t need another backpack
I own 3 Thule bags of different sizes and shapes. All are very well made and intelligently designed. Just don’t need one like this at the moment.
Tempting, but I just scored a near-new Mares Cruise Journey backpack at the thrift shop for $8.
I have one of these and love it. I’m so tempted to buy another at this price, though I cannot come up with any logical reason I would need two.
My only regret is that I have bonitis.

@fastharrydotcom @olsmeister

@olsmeister i kind of did that the last time with the suitcase…awesome advise
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!
@fastharrydotcom Too big to be a Spirit bag.
Is this thing gonna fit a 16" Macbook Pro?
@bwarman if it fits the 15" it probably fits the 16" considering they’re very similar in size (just slightly bigger on the 16")

@Shagbert I use call it the ole’ prison wallet.
How do I do the thing where I post a gif or an image using my order “number”?
@mehvid1 Here’s an example, type this out on its own line and put in your order number:

Is the 23 too small? Amazon reviews say the 30 is better for travel. I like to pack my bags to max capacity and avoid checking a bag.
@Ownix The reviews on Amazon say the 30L is HUGE, so I’m still contemplating the 23L.
