This or That, Day 26
6We’ve been running with the family theme this week and yesterday it was a runaway win for I Love Lucy. I kind of feel bad for @stolicat. And we learned we have Lucy to thank for Star Trek, which I am watching right now, so Lucy FTW.
And so as we get closer to Thanksgiving and one f the biggest road travel days of the year…
…we come to our last car-themed choice. But this time we ask who makes the best supercars.
Italy
Germany
England
Sweden
or US
Oh, I’m sure someone will pull out some obvious car I’m leaving out by omitting some country. Like maybe this one:
Well, since when has that stopped you?

Corellia
@stolicat Well that’s one I didn’t anticipate!
Italy
@tinamarie1974 Probably the most relevant WW entry yet!
@tinamarie1974 doesn’t count, it was used a few days ago …
@stolicat I cannot help it that @mike808 posts a plethora of pics every day. Since I did not post it, it counts. @jnkl is not here to make the rules this month
/giphy giggle
@stolicat @tinamarie1974 Given that rules to this group are only suggestions, what does “count” actually mean? Besides, I don’t actually count anything. Who has time to count?
@tinamarie1974
I approve. Sweet ride. The car too.
@tinamarie1974
Apparently Germany gets the nod for a daily driver.
@mike808 well done!
I like mustangs
@CaptAmehrican But not with this paint job!
Mars
O Canada!
Oh crap.
“Best” is pretty subjective.
We talking looks? Top speed? Overall performance?
Well, I’m going with looks.
Unless you’re driving it on a track, speed and performance mostly go to waste.
So I’ll take a beautiful work of art every time, even if it has a top speed of 80 and takes as long to get there as my Corolla.
And for looks, IMO, it has to go to Italy.
I think Ferrari has made a few of the most beautiful cars ever designed (and some uggos too), but there’s also Fiat, Alpha Romeo, Maserati, Lamborghini (whose designs I don’t personally find all that appealing, but many do) and a few others I’m not as familiar with but still have some very sexy designs.
Some of those brands have been notorious for quality/reliability issues but, again, just based on beauty of design, it’s no contest - Italy ftw.
edit: Hmmm - I may have been thinking a bit beyond the strict parameters of “Supercar”, but I stand by my choice!
@DennisG2014 :
Carrozzeria Pininfarina
@aetris Yeah, Pininfarina is responsible for some of my most and least favorite car designs.
I don’t know all the details of Italian automotive history, but I assume Enzo Ferrari and/or Pinin Farina are responsible for most if not all of what I love about Italian sports cars.
@DennisG2014 - There used to be a site that listed ALL of the Pininfarina designs, but I forget where it was. Many, many incredibly beautiful designs.
And some weird stuff.
Russia.
@Limewater Or who could forget the bakelite Trabant

@ybmuG Are you afflicted with a stutter? It seems todays This or That is really This This This This or That
You could have just left it as a “This” with AMEHrica.
/giphy Made in america
@Mehrocco_Mole I - I - I - I - I don’t know what you mean. I was just trying to be more inclusive than just two choices, but you see how that turned out.
US and England
ThrustSSC, driven by Royal Air Force pilot Andy Green, holds the current land speed record at 760 mph set October 15, 1997.

Themyscira
No love for the French?
@mike808 Yeah, I thought about it. Just let the whole “owned by VW” thing get in the way. But not wrong as French and definitely worthy of supercar.
@mike808 @ybmuG I don’t know - how many parsecs in the Kessel Run?
@mike808 @stolicat less than 12…hundred. No direct road route
Denmark
@mike808 Zenvo? They’ve made like maybe 50 cars total. But sure, if you must.
@ybmuG
I have zero fucks to give.
Add that to your count.
Japan
(To the moon, Alice!)
@mike808 OK, now you’re just being silly
@ybmuG Playstation, bro. GT2020.
@mike808 You play, I’ll drive.

It is rumored that the engineers of Corellia modeled the YT-1300 cockpit after this ancient artifact was discovered on a backwater mudball of the Orion arm.
America-
The 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake would be one example…

@mike808 Fenyr - with what, 10 sold? But OK you can Google. Congrats.
@ybmuG What’s your point? Only 18 Koenigsegg Agera were made in your picture for Sweden.
Blame the scapegoat. Is your prostrate swollen again?
@mike808 My prostate is fine. How’s yours?
@ybmuG Doing great.
